Being a huge fan of supporting local businesses, I couldn't help but want to have lunch here given the unique decor and varied menu. We waited less than a minute to be seated at a two top. It took us some time to decide on what to eat given the variety of options. Just about everything is priced at 19.99 or less which makes cost a non factor. It's also easy to be distracted by the wall decor featuring signed dollar bills, stickers and writing everywhere. We finally landed in the huevos with over easy eggs and the avocado toast. My huevos were really good! Combination of black beans, mushrooms, pico, half of a ripe avocado and cotija cheese was perfect! The red salsa was smoky and sweet too. Potatoes are small squares that are cooked to be a bit crispy. Hubby enjoyed his toast and took half home because it was a generous portion. Happy to come back to try other items because it all looks good. While the restaurant is part of a small chain, it certainly felt very local. read more

Based off of the reviews, my friends and I were expecting great things from Squeeze In. The vibes are very cute and homey, though I think the food can be greatly improved. When we went at around 11am on a Sunday, they were out of 50% of the dishes we tried to order, which was a little strange. I ordered the Lake Taco Omelette with Carne Asada. I thought it was good, but really dry. Aside from the actual meat in the omelet, everything else lacked basic seasoning. Our service was really slow and inattentive (they seem very understaffed), but they were quite friendly. Fun, unique place that's very narrow with an eclectic interior. The breakfast here is good, the menu has a lot of variety and the dishes are well prepared. Took a nostalgia tour of Truckee this week where my family owned a home for 25 years. You can see from my original review, that Squeeze In was a beloved family breakfast spot for years. And while it looked the same (teeny tiny and filled with graffiti to the ceiling), it was NOT the same. One improvement is the reservation system, so you can stroll the downtown shops while waiting for a text letting you know that your table is ready. But, the menu? What happened to the crazy menu with all of the omelet choices? All the fun of the original is gone. Service was not great and it was 'just a restaurant' NOT a destination. Bummer. read more

Great service, love the old building with all the character. Food was delicious. I had the Classic Chad Burger. Burger party was tasty but I'd prefer just a little pink to my burgers...this one was cooked to well done. It was still a good burger. I did think the giant leaf of romaine lettuce was a bit much. My personal preference is iceberg on a burger, romaine stems are tough to eat. Fries were perfectly done and very good. Brioche bun was nicely toasted with some juicy tomatoes and red onions, it was a very good burger (once I removed the lettuce). Staff were very friendly and the decor is great. Had a DoorDash order and I really wish they would include utensils. The potatoes were delicious great flavor and perfectly cooked. The eggs and were also good. The French toast were so hard I had a hard time chewing them. Not sure if they just got cool too soon but I couldn't even eat them. Came here on Mother's Day with my daughter and husband while the food was good, the service unfortunately made the experience disappointing. Every time we asked a question, it felt like we were bothering our server. I was not rude or demanding at all and honestly just assumed maybe she was having a bad day, so I tried to be understanding. What really hurt was watching flowers being given to all the other mothers around us while I was skipped over completely. It may seem small, but on Mother's Day it definitely stood out and made me feel unwelcome. We still tipped 25% because we understand restaurant days can be stressful, but it was hard not to notice the difference in how warmly other tables were treated compared to ours. Because I am Forced by yelp to give one star....As soon as we sat down and I read on the menu this was a chain, my heart sunk. And it shows in the quality. everything I ordered was inedible. The French toast was Rock hard and tasted like it had been sitting out for weeks. The root hash tasted uncooked. The Misty's mocha was day old drip coffee with a splash of hersheys syrup. I had to send most of my order back which I never do. The two servers both seemed miserable which is ironic for a place with good people good vibes on the door. My family came here for breakfast on a Sunday while visiting Truckee. I recommend putting yourself on the Yelp Waitlist during the weekend. We spent the 1 hour+ wait time at our cabin packing up while waiting for our table to be ready. The restaurant is relatively small, so it took longer to accommodate our party of 7. Overall, the service was excellent! Our waiter was attentive, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the Mango Tajin Mimosa and The Spanish Flay Omelette, which was featured on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay. The omelette had good flavor, but it was nothing to rave about. It was a weird day, my friend and I decided to go to this restaurant in Tahoe City but they were closed for a maintenance so we drove to Truckee and tried option 2 restaurant which was also closed then the diner, under staff, nobody couldn't feed us but we found this cute place, they were able to feed 2 hangry people without a wait. The service was great regardless of only one lady serving. I ordered The Garth breakfast sandwich with carne asada because the picture looked yummy, it was yummy just like the picture!! This place was recommended to me by a worker who works at the Ritz and has grown up around Lake Tahoe his whole life. I'm so glad I took that recommendation, because this place was great! It's a little hole in the alley, literally. There was an old alley way and they built this food establishment into the alley. You can see the old brick walls as the inside walls for this place. Very unique! Now I know this is a chain around this area, but it looks like is the only location that has this type of vibe and uniqueness to it. The girl working there was a complete boss! She was working the front by sitting people, she was waiting every single table, and was cleaning every single table. She was the only worker in the eating area and she killed it! She did everything but cook. The inside is not very big, so be aware, but that doesn't take away from how impressive this individual worker was. The food was very good too! We saw three parties leave just put go waiting way too long. Some waited far longer than we did. Staffing seems to be a major issue here and it's unfortunate we never got to even sit down to enjoy the food. This place is very overrated as a breakfast stop. We chose the Squeeze In Truckee location and used the Yelp app to check in, which we were glad we did because the wait was about 35 minutes. That part was actually very convenient, and the host was incredibly kind and communicative while we waited. She was by far the friendliest person we interacted with. Unfortunately, our servers were not very customer-service oriented. My husband ordered the Garth sandwich, and while the garlicky bread was delicious, it was the best part of the sandwich. The potatoes, however, were excellent and easily the highlight of our meal. I ordered the veggie eggs Benedict, which was pretty good, especially with the avocado. My poor son ordered the Queen French toast (six huge slices with strawberry and banana), and it had zero flavor. It was overly cinnamon-heavy, lacked butter, and wasn't cooked all the way through. Honestly, it was the worst French toast we've ever had. Such a bummer considering how expensive the meal was. The service was also disappointing. Our server never checked on us or refilled our coffee. When we finally flagged someone down, the busser tossed butter on the table in an attempt to fix the French toast (which didn't help) and quickly refilled our coffee with a noticeable attitude. I understand she was young, but when we asked for the check, she yelled it across the room to the host, who then apologized. Yesterday morning (Saturday), we were able to get seated right away. We were seated next to a server station where the servers would congregate, and talk with each other loudly which was a distraction. The service was not good. The server was indifferent and after taking our order never returned. The coffee was not replenished and the food was overcooked. Since there was no server around, we just accepted it as their standard. There was no sign of management around. When the check came, the server was again indifferent and didn't even say thank you when the bill was paid. We left disappointed and will not return. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that we will try rather than returning here. read more

We tried Squeeze In in Truckee after seeing all the glowing Yelp reviews and were really looking forward to a solid breakfast experience. The food itself was good and lived up to the hype, but unfortunately the service and overall treatment from the front-of-house staff completely overshadowed the meal which appears to be consistent with a lot of other reviews highlighting this poor attitude from the front staff. From the start, the interaction with the host was off-putting. While leaning in to take our order, the host stepped directly on my foot hard enough to throw off their balance and never acknowledged it, let alone offered an apology. I try to be understanding, mistakes happen but there is no realistic way to step on someone's foot like that and not realize it. The worst part of the visit came a bit later, around 9:20 a.m. on May 9, when a blonde staff who was refilling condiments and running food from the kitchen. Plates were dropped or shoved onto our table without a word, and the expression on her face was a clear frown every time she came by. At first I thought she might just be having a rough morning, but it quickly became obvious that this behavior was reserved for our table. Every other table received greetings, and basic courtesy, while we got silence and visible attitude. The contrast was uncomfortable enough that it felt less like an off day and more like a message about which guests are welcomed warmly here and which are merely tolerated. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, the food was tasty and well-prepared, but the front-of-house team could stand to learn the basics of hospitality and respect. If a certain demographic isn't genuinely welcome, the restaurant should be honest about that so we can take our business, and our money, to one of the many other excellent nearby restaurants on Donner Pass Road where we've previously enjoyed both great food and genuinely welcoming service. read more
