Just wanted a quick bite between mini golf games. Saw this very humble taco shop and was incredible surprised. Salsas burritos tacos beans rice all of it tasted authentic and home made. Well let's start off by saying the food is 4 star. Meaning it's decently edible, but leaves much to be desired. Meat wise the asada was bland and not great. But all the other ingredients. Were good. The service is a 5 star as the staff is super nice and courteous! The building is 3 star as there is extremely limited seating. Not gunna like, the dishes in the standing area with full sinks was really off putting. I get with the design that there isn't much options otherwise, however it was not ideal or pleasant. So this one will get 4 stars. I could eat there again, I would order to go, but I did really enjoy the staff and that's predominantly why I would come back. read more

Not sure why this is called authentic Mexican food. We had tacos which were pricey with low quality. The chicken tacos were made with shredded chicken which is a first for me. Jalisco style tacos are not like this, it's more like Tex-mex food. Salsa was bland and not spicy at all. We also had a carne asada taco that was dry and not seasoned either. Was hoping to find a nice taco spot in kings beach area but I was better off going to Taco Bell. Food prep was being done in front of customers, not in the kitchen. Everyone had a tall can of beer in their hand. If the food was good I would look past all this but the food was bad and pricey. I hope whoever eats here knows that tacos are not made like that in Jalisco, this is a shame. read more

Yes, I really did expect better. For $11 for 3 tacos and a can of soda, I was a bit underwhelmed, to say the least. I ordered a fish taco, chicharron taco and a carne taco. I sorely missed not having any pico de gallo on offer to use as a topping. Salsas didn't have too much kick to them. On the plus side, the ladies who run this place are very nice. read more

Majorly good taqueria, who would have thought it on the shores of Lake Tahoe? But Kings beach has a thriving Mexican-American community and here they come to eat. They have tacos with all the usual ingredients ranging from carne asada to cabeza (pig head meat), tacos de ceviche, Meixcan-style shrimp and octopus cocktails -- if you haven't had these, they're much better than the American version. Various kinds of homemade salsas. All in a ramshackle little ski house on the main road with ten seats inside and one table on a deck outside, with views of the lake and mountains. It may have started as mid-fifties American fake Swiss, but the utilitarian way everything is arrnaged inside is very homey, very Mexican. And if you're there when school gets out, lots of small bilingual children come over and hangout, must be the owner's family. Plus best of all, they have homemade menudo and pozole -- pork and hominy chile stew -- seven days a week! Very, very good pozole. read more

I appreciated that the lady at the counter was the only one working in this hole in the wall taco place. Prices were slightly more than the average food truck ($2.50 per taco), so the gf and I ordered tamales, one chicken, and one pork. Overall, less "corn"-tasting than usual, but a pretty good enchilada-like sauce drizzled over the top. There's only enough room for about 10 people and everything is as simple as can be. I ordered a burrito with lengua, but was left pretty unimpressed. The meat barely tasted like cow tongue and I suspect she might have just thrown in some carnitas in there. Aside from that, all you've got is rice and beans. No cheese, guac, lettuce or sour cream. Pretty unexciting, dry and lackluster burrito with low quality tortillas. Props to the lady for doing it all by herself and getting 9 plates out within 20 minutes, but the food is just unimpressive. Don't expect any frills. I mean no frills at all, no decor, no atmosphere, no comfy seating, nothing. Just a couple of ladies slinging up some fresh and tasty tacos. I stop here every time I'm in the area, and the tacos are always great. Can't speak too much about the other items on the menu, but I can vouch for the tacos. No guacamole. They just don't make it. My wife and I were very impressed with this tiny place in North Lake Tahoe. We are from Los Angeles and have tasted some good Mexican food. This place is right up there with the best of them. The place is tiny. It could seat 10-15 people and the entire kitchen is right there in the dining room where 2 sisters whip up some amazing dishes. I had a carnitas burrito with sour cream and avocado added. It was delicious. My wife also had chicken enchiladas that she loved. I also ordered a pork tamale that was quite good. Decided to drive around Lake Tahoe and was glad to find this little restaurant at Kings Beach as we didn't want a full meal, but we're hungry for something. No no no. Only seating is outdoors. Food is served on paper plates. No ice, bottled drinks come out of a refrigerator and not cold. You come inside the building and order in the middle of their sanitary kitchen area so the sinks are behind you and the grills are in front of you with a cash register in the middle. It was all very very strange. And honestly, the foods not that great. There were some people out front that told us how great it was while we were waiting in line, but we totally did not agree. We had a Carne Asada burrito And it was just all very bland beans and rice and just a little bit of meat. We also ordered a chicken quesadilla that was decent but simple and basic enough it could be made at home. We wanted some thing with a little bit of Mexican flair and decided on this place while we were spending the day at Kings Beach and frankly there are a lot of other options that we could've tried instead likely for less money. I think our overall meal was about $45. read more

Food is served on paper plated and anything, I mean anything and everything is made to order and is excellent. Enchiladas, tortas, sopas and green Chile pork are personal fav's. Order at the counter, prices are reasonable and if you want a soft drink or beer just open up the fridge and crack it yourself. They also have a dozen or so help your self salsas and hot sauces.
