Choosing Blend as our caterer was easily one of the best choices we made for our wedding day! Working with Whitney and the Blend team was an absolute pleasure from the very beginning. They were always quick and responsive to answer our questions and the ease of scheduling our tasting was so easy! We loved that the tasting was an option and we both agreed this was easily our favorite part of the planning process. The only difficult aspect was selecting final proteins, sides, and appetizers because they're all SO good that you wish you could choose them all. The catering team on the day of the wedding were so freaking sweet. They were flexible, rolled with the rain, and didn't skip a beat on timing or set-up. It was important to us to attend our cocktail hour (in lieu of photos and missing out on guests), but as an extra benefit - the second I'd finished an appetizer, the Blend team was magically at my side to give me another. Truly, 10/10 service! In an unexpected moment, one of the Blend catering staff had congratulated us on a beautiful wedding and had then said: "They say rain is good luck on your wedding day because it washes away all the hardship that's come before." I've previously heard that 'rain on your wedding day is good luck', yet I'd never heard the second part of the saying or 'why' it's good luck. She couldn't have known our story, but my husband's a Marine and we've been together for 11 years through countless deployments, exercises, and overseas assignments. Her sharing that with us meant so much and it's stuck as one of the profound moments where I felt incredibly present and rooted on that day. Not only that moment, but all of the Blend staff were so kind and present with all our guests. I would see them laughing and joking and our guests could not stop raving about how good the food was!! They also LOVED that there was the option to go back for seconds. Each of the Blend staff at one point had complimented my dress (it was black!) and they all made me feel beautiful and seen in so many ways. As the late night bites were passed around and one of the trays emptied, the Blend girls joined us on the dance floor and it was such an epic blast. On the logistics front, Blend delivered yet again. We had 2 guests with allergies and 2 guests with dietary preferences and coordinating their needs were so easy. We also discovered one of our guests had a tonsillectomy 3 days before our wedding, so we messaged the Blend team to see if they could make any last minute accommodations and again - they delivered! From the food, to the service, to their people - Blend is one of the best choices you can make for your wedding. I can't recommend them, their food, or their staff enough. I've had the pleasure of enjoying the culinary creations from blend catering at many many many events throughout the years and I finally had a chance to have them cater one of my own! I was looking to host a 40th birthday party for my wife and reached out to the professionals at blend catering to help craft a menu. I knew that I wanted the menu to be entirely gluten-free and be something that could be vegan friendly. They directed me to the Mediterranean section of their menu which has clear influences from Israel and I got really excited because this also happens to be the type of cuisine that my wife loves. We had that za'atar chicken Shawarma, spice cauliflower and carrots, dill infused rice, freshly made hummus and a beautiful Israeli salad featuring a ton of mini heirloom, tomatoes, shaved, radish, and cucumbers all in a tangy vinaigrette, and 100% of the menu is gluten-free and everything except for the chicken was also vegan! The team at blend delivered everything to the venue and set it up in chafing trays for easy service. They provided tongs and spoons necessary for serving the food and we brought our own plates and silverware to make sure that was on brand for the party. The feedback on the food was incredible and even though we ordered food for the exact number of guests that were in attendance, there was even still enough food left over to provide one or two meals afterwards! After an exhaustive search for vendors for our raw wedding venue, we stumbled upon Blend, who was a perfect fit from the start. They were able to bring their entire team to our VRBO kitchen to make our wedding meal dreams come true in a personal and intimate setting with just 25 of our loved ones. The team utilized the entire kitchen and were barely even noticeable until they showed up to professionally pour the champagne for the toasts or to serve the next course during dinner. I was so thankful the team was flexible in a new environment. The food was incredible and even the commonly-forgotten vegetables were getting compliments from guests all night. Blend was a dream caterer to work with and the best wedding food we've ever had - and that's not just cause we're a little biased. If you want to wow your guests and treat yourself with ACTUALLY good food and not just a standard steak, salmon, carb and veggie spread that so many weddings default to, then just flip through their menu options and you'll be in love right away. Of course you will pay for it, but you're paying for professionalism, top ingredients, a one-on-one tasting experience with great advice for crafting your menu, and a team who will truly take care of you on your special day. They made us a plate of each of the appetizers for right after the ceremony so we didn't miss them, and they made our dinner plates for us too. Unfortunately I missed our dessert bar, but luckily one of our desserts was gourmet pistachio baklava doughnut holes which they passed around appetizer style during the dance floor so I don't feel like I missed out too much - and I highly recommend you do the same because you'll be busy having fun. One of the deciding factors in choosing the venue we did (Dancing Pines) was because they allowed (actually required) outside catering and Blend was on the preferred vendor list, meanwhile several other venues we looked at had their own catering and we weren't impressed with the food options. Blend Catering created the absolute MOST DELICIOUS food for our wedding ever imaginable. I am a super foodie, so I cared a lot about giving our 180 guests the best food experience at our wedding. SO many people, including some very picky people, absolutely raved about our food and told us it was the best wedding food they've ever had. From the passed appetizers (incredible rice cakes with salmon tartare, beef bulgogi lettuce cups, and more) to the main meal (the best short rib I've ever had hands down, unbelievable salmon with green herb oil, twice smashed potatoes) everything was 5 stars. The staff was great, serving tasty appetizers like lobster rolls and tiny chicken & waffle bites during cocktail hour. Then at dinner the buffet included seasonal salads, breads, crispy potatoes, delicious short ribs and fish with a delicious sauce. Why didn't I see you at this Israeli dinner ? A pop up dinner at the Nevada Museum of Arts that was a joint effort of the in house cafe, Chez Louie, and Blend Catering. This family style dinner started with a delicious array of appetizers- Blend prepared a basket of fluffy seasoned pita, creamy hummus, spicy babbaganoush, and a fresh and bright Israeli salad of heirloom tomatoes and fresh herbs. Chez Louie presented sweet, perfectly al dente Moroccan carrots, fried cauliflower with herbed labneh, and potato salad. An Israeli white blend and Cabernet Sauvignon wines were served. All that could have easily been my dinner, wine and a smorgasbord of appetizers- perfect. But there was more food to follow- first course from Blend was a flaky ocean trout with zhug and shawarma spice over incredible slightly sweet beets and a purée. Chez Louie sends out a second course of coffee rubbed brisket nestled on a twice baked eggplant. And of course you must have dessert- I hate cigars, but not these babies. Doh! Everytime I think of this catering company I hear Homer Simpsons voice. MMmmm. Doughnuts. Doh! My experience with their food started at a small gathering where I was able to sample quite simply the most amazing Guac I've ever had. Then here and there they have found ways to "get in my belly"! Most of the times in the tasty and totally sinful forms of those doughnuts! I think I have tried a handful of flavors but I think they have a whole palette of flavors available to them. Some even on the savory side. But really, what makes them amazing isn't just their doughy balls of heaven, it's just how skillfully they approach every dish. There isn't any "phoning in" on this or that plate, everything makes your mouth joyous and your taste buds beg for more. The most recent experience I had with Dough at their Ohev Pop Up at Czyz's appliance on South Virginia. Wow this one, in my opinion, topped the Israeli International Supper Club dinner they put on at the Co-Op. They just know how to put tasty things together and make it extraordinary. The staff they have on hand for the different events is always really cool and personable but very professional. I haven't done any contract work with them because I just haven't had the need. Blend Catering made my COVID cancelled wedding experience even worse. Due to a COVID required cancellation we lost a $3,000 deposit with Blend. Whitney with Blend said they would honor a date change but when they couldn't make our new date she said there was nothing she could do. She wouldn't even consider my request to use the $3,000 non-refundable deposit to make meals for the nearest homeless shelter/soup kitchen, stating the money had already been used. We had to cancel our original wedding 4 months prior to the date - the only things that had been done related to catering was a tasting that we had to pay ADDITIONAL money for. The deposit is just going straight into the company's pocket. I was hoping Blend was a diamond in the rough of the icky wedding industry but was proven time and time again to not be. I am SO glad that I selected Blend Catering for my September 2018 Wedding. I have been in the wedding catering industry for 8 years. When it came time for me to get married, I chose a destination location in Tahoe and didn't have time to do a food tasting. I chose Blend based on positive yelp reviews, excellent menu offerings that were on-trend and right up my alley, and really reasonable pricing. Whitney was my main point of contact and always replied quickly and provided plenty of insight, recommendations, and advice. My wedding was at a private estate that I didn't get to see until the day before my wedding. I did not have a layout or an accurate seating chart, but that didn't stop Blend from providing quick and excellent service. Everything was right on time from set up, prep, plating, and clearing. I also asked them to move my ceremony chairs over to the dinner tables, which they banged out with no trouble whatsoever. The food was to-die-for. Our appetizers were tray-passed and came out right on time, and quickly. Mini Chicken N Waffles with a Sriracha Glaze, Smoked Pork Belly Skewers, and the best citrus cured trout with avocado mousse and puffed grains--my guests were obsessed with the hors d'oeuvres! Our family-style dinner consisted of a delicious plated salad with grilled summer peaches and goat cheese, and the entrees were a braised beef short rib in red wine caramel, *custom requested* grilled shrimp in a citrus buerre blanc but with a paprika or something that added a beautiful hint of spice to it, served with amazing twice-baked smoked potatoes with black garlic aioli and asparagus with citrus and almonds. They made fresh doughnut holes for my dessert, and when everyone was dancing and partying, they quickly adapted and went from table-service to tray-passing the sweets around the party. Our guests couldn't stop talking about the passed appetizers, the 48-hour short rib, citrus salmon, and the smashed potatoes. But not only was the food tasty, they accommodated the fact that the bride, the mother of the groom, and a bridesmaid all have celiac by making the entire menu gluten free without compromising on flavor and texture. Josh and Whitney are the team behind Blend Catering, a dynamic duo whose love of (and talent with!) food is perhaps only eclipsed by their event planning and execution finesse. My wife and I got married last summer and had a camping wedding in the mountains. During the planning phase, we had five different catering teams lined up to interview - after talking with the first four we were pretty disheartened with the responses. Our wedding had a lot of constraints that ranged from high altitude outdoors cooking to not having large refrigeration units and being 60 miles from the closest major town. Other caterers either scoffed at our constraints, couldn't provide the menu we wanted, or quoted us extravagant amounts for the challenges our site presented. Then we talked to Blend. Whitney and Josh didn't bat an eye when we described our wedding venue and all the culinary delights we wanted our guests to experience: outdoor kitchen, smaller stove, no ice onsite, BBQ rehearsal dinner, Mediterranean cuisine for the main event, late night pizzas, a brunch, and oh-- a couple hundred guests. They worked with our vision and budget to come up with a plan for our big weekend. After presenting us with a great proposal, they went to the extra effort to come meet up with us at our venue and inventory the equipment available onsite - they took one of their days off and drove 3 hours from their home in Reno to check everything out (and brought their awesome dogs with them too!). After getting a lay of the land at the venue, they stayed to have lunch with us simply to get to know us better. We knew after that visit we had made a great decision and chosen the best team for the job. Throughout the wedding weekend, Josh and his team executed our plan with incredible ease, even despite not having traditional cooking equipment at his disposal and with a surprise course correction weekend-of (we arrived at the venue to discover a promised new stove had not been installed in the outdoors kitchen as previously expected) - and despite that rather significant change, Josh and his team made do with the smaller stoves around the site. And they did it with so little fuss that none of our guests had any idea about the hiccup. The food was amazing all weekend; our friends and family raved about the menu and everyone was stuffed and satisfied. All i can say is those other people did me a favor, or i would not have found Blend. I have had the pleasure of attending a few events catered in full or in part by Blend. I'm never disappointed. A couple of weeks ago they catered a breakfast for a groupe of Yelpers and the food was delicious. It was a Mexican theme with build your own breakfast tacos. They had a chorizo and potato dish as well as a pork dish that was AH MAY ZING. There was also a vegetarian selection and some delicious salsas and pico de gallo. Tonight I attended the Reno Bites kick-off at Reno Provisions and Blend provided a tasty pork belly in a sauce of olive oil, herbs, and citrus. The other item they provided I cannnot do justice. I hired Blend to feed 20 for a graduation party. The food (pulled pork, tri-tip, brussel sprouts, collard greens and German potato salad) was excellent! They were also willing to accommodate our request of bringing the food in fairly late and Josh was extremely helpful. I thought they would just be dropping off the food items since it was a bit late on a weeknight, but Josh came in and took care of everything, including moving all the food to platters I had set out, heating up some items in the oven, etc. The price was fantastic! Josh and Whitney are two classically trained chefs from the Culinary Institute of America. After chatting with them, I learned that the name dough comes from a food truck that they owned and operated in Florida prior to their relocation to Reno, NV in 2013. Since they came back to Whitney's hometown, they have an exceedingly popular reputation in town for high-end private catering events. Tonight was a great treat when I got to sample some of dough's outstanding talent at the Campo Goat dinner, with special guest chefs, Josh and Whitney! The seven course dinner was a combination of dishes offered up by Chef Mark Estee and Dough. This dishes that dough put out were cocoa braised goat carmelle pasta, goat shoulder with a pea puree, goat loin, and a goats milk panna cotta. OMG! Each dish was better than the next! The handmade pasta was thin and delicate and rolled around succulent braised goat, finished with a sweet but tart red wine reduction topped with crumbled hazelnuts. THen came the goat shoulder, tender as can be, and served with a delicious brown butter sauce and wonderful vegetables (cauliflower, mushrooms, etc) to complement the flavor. The goat loin was a real treat, as that is something I have never eaten, and was surprisingly tender and flavorful, crusted in juniper and served atop a parsnip puree. If all of that wasn't enough to satisfy the palate (and the stomach!), the dessert course was TO DIE FOR! A delicious soft goat's milk custard, topped with a salty caramel sauce and crunchy, buttery pistachio brittle and small slices of blood orange. AMAZING! These two chefs have some serious talent and I would highly recommend them for any catered event, large or small! At the end of the meal, as if we weren't all full enough, Whitney served these lovely bite-sized cookie/cakes made from plenty of butter and goats milk. We had our wedding in Tahoe in June 2019, and were blown away by Whitney and team at Blend. They were friendly, helpful, professional, and the food was GREAT! They offered personal service, and helped make suggestions for our non-standard arrangements (breakfast burritos for 100 people at our Sunday Brunch was an absolute hit). We particularly loved the southern-themed appetizers. The gochujang chicken+waffles and fried green tomatoes were phenomenal. The short rib and duck were also very well received. Wow. This is the only word that comes to mind when I think of the catering quality and execution from our wedding this past Friday. The staff from Blend was not only timely, prompt and professional; they were also courteous, pleasant and truly showed care while demonstrating an incredible work ethic during our event. We can say without a doubt that our wedding would not have been as perfect as it was had we not had hired them. For this, we still cannot not thank them enough. One of the best parts of our experience working with Blend was the level of our guests' overwhelming satisfaction at not only the flavor and quality of the food, but the high level of personable service each of them received. Each staff member was kind, polite and tended to the needs of the event with incredible efficiency - and it didn't go unnoticed. The food was amazing...the service was amazing..and most amazing of all... ...the areas of our home they used (in the heat with no air conditioning I may add - with no complaints) were left unbelievably spotless. Like no one had ever even stepped in them. Unreal.
