We had our wedding in Tahoe in June 2019, and were blown away by Whitney and team at Blend. They were friendly, helpful, professional, and the food was GREAT! They offered personal service, and helped make suggestions for our non-standard arrangements (breakfast burritos for 100 people at our Sunday Brunch was an absolute hit). If there is any meal you are going to venture while you're in Reno, make sure one of them is an experience by Dough Catering. They do not own a brick and mortar venue currently, so either attend one of their Pop Ups or hire them for a high end special event. I have had the privilege to enjoy two of their Israeli dinners, their chocolate doughnut creations at Fantasies in Chocolate, a sample of their appetizers when they opened Reno Bites at Pignic, and their entry in the Reno Bites Chef Showdown. I am amazed each and every time by the presentation of the plating, the quality and freshness of the food, and delighted by the taste of everything they offer. There is no run of the mill, ordinary menu item. Every item I've partaken has been innovative and incredible. And let it be known that I consider myself a picky eater. I do not like beets, yogurt, nor lamb. However, at the Pop Up at Czyz's last Saturday, the second course consisted of roasted beets with shawarma spice, raw beets, sesame, avocado, labne and citrus. It was delicious and I ate my fill, and then shared with my husband. If I had read this on a menu at a restaurant, I would skip it. But knowing that Josh and Whitney can take something I don't like and make it not only edible but delightful, I keep an open mind and try just about everything they offer. The fourth course was lamb loin and lamb shoulder with merguez spice, romanesco, on chickpea puree and drizzeld with silan. I ate every morsel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The entire 7-course dinner, if you include the snack (sunchoke, foie gras, Berbere spice, dates and honey = foodgasm!) at the beginning of the night and the mignardises at the end of the evening, was worth every penny of the $85 event. They fondly named it "Ohev", which means "he loves", and my belly and heart were definitely filled to the rim with the love dished out by Josh and Whitney and I am ever grateful! Great food and great company can make for a great evening, and it wouldn't be all that without Dough Catering's team of fabulous servers. They welcomed us with warm smiles, kindly invited us to our seats, kept our water glasses filled, and cleared or dishes promptly. Their attentive service kept a timely flow throughout the evening. Lastly, I do want to note that the "Ohev" pop up came with drink pairing provided by Pignic Pub & Patio, a venue with a unique concept and delicious cocktails. Trevor perfectly created and matched liquid and food flavors. I cannot wait for the next time I get to venture Dough's culinary creations! It really doesn't get any better than Blend. They catered our wedding this summer and everyone was completely blown away by the food. I am a former chef and real foodie, so my guests expected the food to be amazing but I really think Blend's cooking exceeded everyone's high expectations. Every single thing that Blend prepared was perfectly cooked and seasoned (including the lamb, which is not easy to make!) and all the flavors were unique and delicious. The quality of their ingredients was truly outstanding. Our venue had a pretty antiquated kitchen with a fridge and oven that didn't really work but Blend handled these complications seamlessly and gracefully. From our first interactions with Whitney and Devon, we found them to be organized, professional, and very kind and helpful (especially when we had to change our date because of Covid). I can't recommend Blend highly enough--if you are getting married in Tahoe, you would be crazy to hire anyone else! read more

I had the great honor of attending a Pop Up Dinner prepared by Josh & Whitney over this past Labor Day Weekend as a part of the Sample the Sierra Festival in South Lake Tahoe. The name "Blend" aptly describes their style of cooking. Flavors were revealed to one's palate layer by layer. Simply a divine meal including some things that I would have described as not on the top of my list of items to eat. The presentation was gorgeous and timing excellent and even more so when you take into account that they were doing dinner for 50 in an unfamiliar kitchen 65 miles from their own! Blend recently catered our wedding and it was absolutely amazing. Blend was always our first choice for catering and managing our wedding because I work for them. Working for them has be great so we knew our wedding experience would be just that! Everything with our wedding went off without a hitch. The food was so incredible and the staff was so helpful! We had a great time making our custom menu with Josh and Whitney. I'm around our food all the time but my husband isn't. It was fun for me to go though this experience with him. We were engaged for almost two years so I changed our menu quite a bit. Josh and Whitney were so patient with us and that helped out so much. We had about 15 different passed light and heavy appetizers and two big stationed items. It gave our guests the choice to have food brought to them or they could go to the food. I loved that we could have all of my favorite items at our wedding. Not having to pick one or two. It would of been very hard to pick just a few. They made it easy for us and said pick all of them! Our guest raved about all of the food and loved that we had it going all night. Drink some, eat some! I could hear people saying "oh look more food, I haven't tried that one yet" The staff made the whole night run so smoothly. They kept the reception clean and tidy. We still hear how great and smooth everything went. I've never seen our events from the perspective of "The Bride". It was great to see that and experience the company this way. Blend Catering was absolutely incredible to work with on everything from planning the menu to executing the flow of feeding our 300 wedding guests. The food was absolutely delicious and we have continued to get so many compliments on the quality of the food in the weeks after our wedding. We had a lot of specific needs (ex vegetarian and meat options, limited budget, gluten free, dairy free, etc) and they were willing and able to accommodate our needs without question. We requested food stations and decided on a Mediterranean station, taco station and poke bowl station. We also had a variety of appetizers and a late night his and her grilled cheese station. Everyone has been raving about how much they loved getting to explore the variety of options over the course of the night. Somehow, they pulled off our "festival food" vision outside without a full kitchen on site. Their team is kind, organized, transparent and talented. Having recently relocated to Reno, we were looking for a caterer that would be as superb as the caterers we were accustomed to using in San Francisco. To our delight, we found Blend! Whitney and her staff our truly superb, but what makes Blend the best catering service we have ever used (regardless of location) is their menu. With the ability to choose from a large menu for appetizers, entrees, deserts, etc, I will not comment on particular items (well, maybe, the donuts---wow!), but the unique combinations of ingredients, spices, and seasonings in each of our selections were incredibly tasty and had our guests commenting "have you tried this...have you tried this...have you tried this" again and again. The lightness and freshness of each item we had on our menu was superb and our guests noticed the difference immediately. Unbelievably delicious...so much so, that folks were still commenting on the menu several days later! We have used a number of caterers for both corporate (150-300 guests) and private (25-100 guests) parties over the years, but we have to say that Blend surpassess all others we have used previously. Whitney is a delight to work with as you plan your event. Always responsive, never a hitch or difficulty, I wholeheartedly recommend Whitney and Blend. You will absolutely not be disappointed! In spite of it all, Josh and Whitney deserve a gold medal as the best we have ever worked with. Josh and Whitney accepted the task of catering a wedding reception for us this summer at our home. The menu was diverse, unusual, and splendidly prepared and presented. Our guests were overwhelmed at the quality and uniqueness of the cuisine. Josh and Whitney introduce into their creations knowledge they have garnered from travels and exposure to a wide range of ethnic foods from around the world. The staff was over the top perfect. Courtesy, professionalism, and instituting last minute changes barely scratches the surface of the abilities of the staff. They organized everything from Celebration's Party rentals, which took one less thing off my plate. Now- on to the important stuff- the food!!! We traveled from Santa Cruz, CA one night to do our tasting in their kitchen in Sparks, NV and drove back right after. And it was worth it!! Their food in incredible, and was the perfect "experience" we were looking for for our wedding. I literally was having dreams about their pasta and chicken and waffles appetizer. I mentioned to Whitney that I just wanted to be sure my husband and I were able to actually eat some of the apps (since we would be taking pictures during cocktail hour). She personally delivered them and guarded off our bridal party who had already been served their own special plate that was brought down. Thank you both for everything! We just had these guys do a six person sit down dinner at our house and it was AMAZING. Everyone agreed that the food was better than any restaurant in town. During the planning phase of our Summer-of-Love party, she was super-helpful, provided a HUGE menu with both meat and vegetarian options, and made the process simple, smooth and flexible. On the night of our event, in Tahoe City, Whitney, her uncle Eric and team, were punctual, efficient and the service was on-time. Now, the food, that was even BETTER. The appetizers were great, particularly the pork belly and the artichoke app. The main dishes were awesome, with my favorite, the short ribs. The carbonara was a lighter variety (probably because she sensed we didn't want really heavy cream sauces)and still tasty and enjoyable. The mini-deserts provided lots of choices without "beaucoup" calories. I only wished we lived in the Tahoe-Reno area, so we could work with Whitney, Eric and Josh more. Josh and Whitney did an incredible job for our daughter's wedding 5/28/17 at Lavender Ridge. Everyone RAVED about the food. I found Blend Catering through a random on-line search - I needed someone to cater lunch for my daughter's graduation from SNC in May (I'm not from the Tahoe area). I have to say I was a bit nervous - I've never planned a food event before without first meeting the owners in person or participate in a tasting, or at least having received a recommendation - but I simply didn't have the time. Through phone calls and emails with Whitney, one of the owners, we planned the menu and the event - and the result was perfect in every way! The food was well prepared and delicious - I received many, many compliments from my guests.
