I had a good experience here. needed a watch battery and they got it done while I waited even though they were busy. the gentleman that served my needs was knowledgeable and efficient. I can see why there may be perceptions of being curt or borderline rude but I personally think the man is focused on many things and doesn't break concentration. especially when working with tiny watch components, I'd prefer a focused person doing the work as opposed to friendly and chatty. that's my experience and was a 5:30 walk in not turned away because of the time. cost was cheap as hell compared to most other places I've had work done. also they can service pieces many other establishments cannot. I have taking my shoes, purses, watches and clothing to these guys for about 12 years. Never disappointed. No credit cards, just cash but it's worth it. Sometimes the repair or "spiffing up" of a favorite purse or shoes estimate seemed high, but when he handed it back to me it was just like new. This was a great place. The two brothers were very nice and to the point. I take all my clothes for tailoring their and they do a great job no matter the difficulty of the job and I wear a lot of suites. I also need my shoes repaired from time to time and the other brother does a great job and saves me a lot money on buying new shoes. I feel compelled to update my previous review. This is due to the deplorable treatment I received when I took the altered pants back after the seam fell apart on one pant leg just a couple of weeks after they'd been hemmed. I showed it to the man that did the work who was so nice to me before. He said that it was due to washing the pants that the hem came out. Really (in my best Amy Poehler voice). I washed them twice after having them hemmed up. There was no apology given for the obviously poor workmanship. The best part? Had the audacity to charge me $6 to have the pant leg redone. And I paid it because I just wanted the pants done. As a result of the extremely poor customer service I received and the rude treatment, I would strongly encourage others in need of alterations to seek assistance elsewhere. These guys are awesome! I was given an old watch that used to belong to my Grandfather recently. The watch had not worked in decades. I had originally sent it directly to the manufacturer to refurbish but they were unable to do it due to the age of the watch and shortage of parts. The manufacturer's estimates started at $1,500 and had to be sent to Switzerland for an evaluation, which took several months. I took it into Bell Towne Alterations and Shoe Repair (they repair watches too!) and within a week it was running. All this cost less than a 25% of what the manufacturer quoted. They charged me exactly what they said they would and were incredibly fast. They totally exceeded my expectations! Two brothers, working in the business over 30 years and continuing family tradition. Seeing the solution the moment you bring your favorite dress, jeans, suit, coat, your favorite leather jacket, cowboy boots, maybe cowgirl boots, your sandals with the broken hill, or strap, your favorite purse.. Their answer is "yes" disregards of the complication of the work. I have brought so many dresses here for alteration after buying my clothes (supposedly the "right size") and the dress just would not fit. Not every woman could fit the standard size, as we know it. The brothers could see " the lines" with the precision of the jewelers, and few pins later, my dress just fits and feels exactly how it should be, like it was tailored just for me. I am not sure if I ever had such luck with alterations in any other places, or if I ever met the masters who calmly take my "problem dress" and turn it into my most favorite. The same quality applies to jackets, shoes repair, etc. I feel very fortunate I found Old Towne Alterations shop. Went in to get my daughters dress hemmed for prom. It was last minute , went in on a Tuesday and needed it by Saturday. When they realized I needed it so quickly, the price went up $40. $90 to get a dress that isn't lined is completely outrageous . Gouging at its finest. I took a pair of shoes to this place. It was a simple repair, they just needed the straps glued back in. I was shocked when I went in and there were display cases of watches and only old shoes in sight. It looked like a fence for something. I showed him my shoes and he told me the only thing he could do was staple the straps on the outside. The shoes are Steve Madden Juke and it would have change the entire look. He informed me that was the look now. Um no, I'll try somewhere else and left. I took them to another shop and the owner glued them and fixed them for me for $15. I have to warn any customer about going to this business, Yuriy,, was the man who .did my alterations and he completely ruined a pair of $150 denim Rock Revival jeans.. I should have known from the start, he asked for half the cost to hem two pairs of jeans up front. The cost was $80 to hem two pair of jeans and that was apparently at a discounted price because he happen to know my grandmother whom was with me at the time. One pair was cut way too short there was only one option which was to change the style from boot cut to tapered however he was going to charge me an additional charge and was unwilling to take responsibility for his mistake. This place is a rip off and did not offer any solution only demanded more money. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH, request half up front and for the record they have a rack of unclaimed altered clothing for sale at the front of the store! which should have been my first clue. I have contacted the BBB in this matter.Giving this company any stars in my opinion is not an option but to warn consumers is the only way I can put the word out about these rip offs. read more

I am so happy I found this shop. I have been a regular customer for over a year and I am so pleased with the customer service, the quality of work , and the general kindness that has been shown to me. Four years ago I was hit head on in my car, driving home from work. The driver who hit me was drunk, way above the legal limit. My left foot was almost completely cut off at the ankle. Thank God, I had very skilled surgeons and my foot was saved. I have had a total of 6 surgeries on that foot and ankle and as a result my foot and leg is very swollen. My normal shoe size does not fit this foot. Luckily Valdamir, is a very talented shoe repair man and has worked wonders on shoes I have taken to him. Sometimes it is difficult to alter and match colors, materials, ect. Valdamir goes out of his way to get the shoe just right! I appreciate him very much.
