I had such a wonderful experience at G&J Alterations! I came in to have my dress altered, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The attention to detail and care they put into making sure the dress fit properly really stood out. The shop itself is welcoming and has a great selection of dresses and inspiration throughout the space. The fitting process was professional and comfortable, and I felt like they truly listened to what I wanted rather than simply making a quick adjustment. My dress now fits beautifully, and I feel so much more confident wearing it. Great workmanship, friendly service, and attention to detail--exactly what you want when trusting someone with an important dress. A plus is that value of the alternations was perfect. I highly recommend G&J Alterations if you need alterations for a special occasion. I'm so glad I found them! read more

Great quick service, when I needed to get done as soon as possible, they were there for me

The item was received on the day promised; however, communication was not great. I arrived when they opened on the day it was due. They looked at me confused and said it has to be after noon which no one told me. They hadn't even started it. It was a simple fix. However, the lack of communication wasn't appreciated. When I picked it up, they just handed it to me. They didn't show me the work and when I started to look at it, they just kind of stared at me. The repair seems adequate however the communication isn't great. read more

I brought in a pair of Zara pants that got ripped on the side pocket and when I picked it up -they made it look brand new. The lining of the stitches were seamless so I highly recommend this Alterations place. They really know what they're doing. read more

Boy, I didn't want to write this review, but I am so disappointed and angry! I brought an expensive pair of new tencel like pants in for a hemming and tuck in the waist. When I was paying ($75.00), I expressly told them that I WANTED THE ORIGINAL HEM put back because nothing screams cheap like cloth turned over and stitched. I could have done that! After almost 4 weeks, I picked them up and lo and behold, the original hem was cut off and not put back on after the alteration. She tried to tell me I never mentioned that until I produced my receipt. They dug around in the trash and found them. I had to come back the following day. I got home with my pants and realized that they never actually changed the hemline, nor did they tuck the waist. So, I paid $75.00 for nothing. If you can find anywhere else to go for alterations, I would do that! The picture is proof that they never tucked the waist. read more

After calling 6 different alterations places on Black Friday for a rush hem on a sorority formal dress, G&J agreed to do a 1day turn-around on the hem so my daughter could be saved her mother's hack-sewing skills on her beautiful sorority formal gown. Sure enough, they turned it around in under 24 hours and the day was saved! Yes, I had to eat an extra $25 rush fee, but it was well worth it! read more

I brought in a bunch of designer t-shirts I bought before a trip and needed them altered quickly. G & J Alterations did a great job -- the work quality is solid, and everything fits perfectly now. The prices are higher, but you definitely get what you pay for. I'm pleased with how everything turned out and would trust them again for any tailoring needs. read more

This places was recommended to me by a friend. I walked in, no wait time. I tried on the bridesmaid dress one of the ladies working there marked it, and I picked it up about 10 days later. The dress is perfect length. Overall great service, I will be back if I need anything else altered. read more

I asked for a quote and got a response quick and went in there and they were able to do what I needed. I wouldn't say it was a great price they offered but they are nice uniforms so I knew people would charge more for that anyway. However they didn't take the top clasp out of the top of the zipper like I'd ask and they said they would and I didn't notice until I got home with them. So I went back and stopped by to let them know, as she said she'd "do it really quick" really quick turned into me having to leave because while doing it "really quick" she managed to help a customer come in and completely help her like had her try on the garment and then went to charge her while I was sitting there waiting. As if that wasn't rude enough to do she answers the phone and was on the phone for 5 minutes. It took so long I had to go pbecause I had an appointment so I said I'd come back so then I came back an hour later and she handed to me saying "$10" and I was like "to use the seam ripper to take the clasp out that you said you would do and didn't then have me come back in for it?" And yes said yes because it took her away from her other duties lol. I was that's actually insane but okay and paid her. I mean after spending over $140 on altering my uniforms you'd think they'd at least take a stupid seam ripper and take out the clasp that literally took 1 minute, but no. I will not be coming back and do not recommend. Terrible customer service. read more

Ah, the sartorial escapades at this local seamstress are quite the mixed bag, aren't they? One moment, you're dazzled by the swiftness and splendor of impeccably tailored trousers, and the next, a beloved blazer meets a tragic fate--not exactly the plot twist one hopes for in a clothing saga.Yet, amidst these highs and lows, there's a charming allure to the place. It's where haste meets craft, with services rendered faster than a New York minute when urgency calls. And while the pricing may dance on the steeper side of the hill, the allure of friendly banter and smiles can sweeten the deal, making it a spot where sometimes, just sometimes, you might feel like part of a small, quirky family drama. So, if you're not too particular about the occasional seamstress standoff, this might just be your next stop for that emergency hemming! read more

Very fairly priced and finished the day promised. Nice and friendly and service with a smile. Had a pair of pants hemmed... great job. read more

Very simple request to shorten a shower curtain. This is not a complicated thing. They asked $30, which seemed high but I didn't complain. Then she said she needs an entire week. That seemed to be a long time for such an easy job. I asked for it to be done quickly they said $5 extra I didn't complain. Then they demanded payment up front I said no way first you do a good job and then I will pay you. She was very rude and said "go somewhere else" okay I will do exactly that. Note: did a fast google search and found Helen's Creative Sewing about 5 minutes away. Walked in and was greeted like a customer should be greeted, and I didn't have to pay up front. read more

I live in the Biltmore area and I was reading reviews for tailors in the area on yelp when I came across l g & j alterations. The first time I came in I was having pants altered for my partner who wasn't able to come in person with work scheduling. Not only did Maya offer to have both pants tailored within 20 minutes, she insisted that i have the hem adjusted if my partner didn't love the length. Since then i've been back numerous times for alterations on other items and always leave extremely satisfied. I highly recommend g & j to everyone in the greater phoenix area and happily make the 30 minutes commute for the superstar service and reasonable prices! read more

I came here to get an evening gown altered for a wedding I was attending. I needed it hemmed and also had the shoulder straps taken in a bit since the top of the dress kept falling off my shoulders. I also needed it finished in 3 weeks, so I paid for my order to be rushed. I was so impressed with the service and the quality of the work. The business is clean and well-organized and they deliver on their promises. I didn't know what to look for in an alterations service, so I was nervous, but I trusted the other 5-star reviews and I'm glad I did! You will be happy you chose G and J Alterations. I will be bringing other clothes here for alterations! read more

WoW! The lady's name is Maya, and she did a great job hemming up the legs of my motorcycle riding pants. To be clear, this job was not as if it were pant legs on a pair of slacks being hemmed. These were riding over pants with insertable liners whose hems had to match. On top of that, tough material used so one's riding boots don't quickly wear away softer materials along with strips of Velcro had to be cut away and then reattached perfectly. Finally, buttons that hold the liners to the riding pants had to be removed and reattached in flawlessly. This was done to perfection. read more
