Went here to have some patches sewn on my leather vest. This was one of the only places in the area…read morethat I found that could do the work. It was about two weeks to have them sewn on and while they did ask me if it was ok to sew through the liner, they did sew through the liner and pockets rendering the inner left pocket unusable. I don't really use the pockets except maybe to put my phone in, but I would have thought that they wouldn't have done that. All in all I had 4 patches sewn on for $80. As you can see, one got sewn right through the inside pocket. I would have like to have been asked about that, but hindsight being 20/20, I guess if I need any more sewn, I'll let them know. This business seems to do a lot of alterations for wedding dresses, so I'm guessing not a lot of bikers are hitting them up to sew their cuts. Just be aware if that's something you need.

Before finding Vins, I contacted two separate dry cleaners who were not able to meet my time requests (Friday drop off, Tuesday pickup). I found Vin's alteration through a Google search and I'm so happy I did. The owner was so very sweet, she is very knowledgeable at what she does and extremely skilled. The location is actually a converted house, that Is well-kept and designed, and conveniently located off the 51 and Shea. Regarding the tailoring, I have a small waist and big butt so my jeans have that annoying gap at the waist. When I arrived at Vin's the owner was very friendly and warm. I tried on my jeans in their well-kept dressing room and she took measurements accordingly. My items were ready on time as promised and ready to go for my trip the following day. When I went to try on the jeans at pick up, I was absolutely STUNNED at the quality of the work. I couldn't even tell that there had been modifications made to the jeans , which is a true testament to her skills since she had to takeoff a total of 5 inches. I wish I had a before for the after picture. It was very seamless and looks and fits perfect. This is my first time getting clothing tailored. While the cost was more expensive than I had guessed/expected it to be (Again; first time tailoring so I wasn't quite sure what to expect with cost) it is certainly something that I see myself continuing doing in the future because of how wonderful my jeans fit after the fact. I rarely find the need an alterations but if I had to need a be, this is my go to. Vin is not only lovely and knowledgeable, she's fashion forward, talented, and reliable for her alterations. Conveniently located in my neighborhood, I prefer to support local owners. It's in a beautiful space attached to her home. Parking can be a bit tricky since she's on a busy corner. Vin has some of her work displayed on the mannequins and offers shoes if you forgot yours during the dress fitting. I've brought in difficult items and simple items like hemming of my pant suits. Prices range from $15-$45 depending how much changes you need done. She generally will get items returned to you within 1-2 weeks, or even sooner, depending on how busy she is. Her work is superb and you would never know anything was altered other than it fits perfectly to your body. Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are. Every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself. Make sure you dress like you are going somewhere better later.

For my ceremony dress, you can see in the first photo just how much fabric needed to be taken in from when I originally bought the dress. Zahra altered the bodice at both the waist and bust and added an American bustle so the dress was perfect for the ceremony and easy to manage afterward. For my reception dress, she did an incredible amount of detailed work --hemming eight layers of delicate horsehair, tulle, and satin. I was worried about stepping on the dress during our waltz so she recommended adding 10 bustles to lift the dress beautifully off the floor. I felt hot in the dress so she also took out some layers from the knee down. The dress was not too warm and all the work she did kept the dress off the floor and it spun perfectly. I felt like a cloud dancing the night away! She also added a hook to the zipper and a bow to my after-party dress, which was such a gorgeous finishing touch. I felt perfect in this dress as well. There was also an issue with the fit of one of my dresses that I initially thought might have been related to the original measurements. Zahra never made me feel uncomfortable about it and simply fixed the dress. I later realized that *I* was actually the reason for the change -- I had done more than 12 Pilates sessions between our initial appointment and the fitting, and I had gained muscle around my back! I felt especially lucky that she fixed it without charging me extra. Zahra is a true expert. Her experience working for a major bridal shop really shows in her precision, knowledge, and ability to work with complicated, high-end gowns. I am so grateful I found her. She went above and beyond, and the results were absolutely beautiful. First off, the process they use is simple and efficient. I've never had to wait long in line to drop off my stuff, and they'll shoot you a text when it's ready for pickup. I similarly have never had to wait long to pick up my clothes. I've mostly been to Tatum Cleaners for button-up dress shirts and blazers. And once to clean a rug. The amount of time it takes them to take care of business is reasonable, and the prices are reasonable. I've never ran into any issues. That's the type of experience you look for at a dry cleaners.
