The attention to detail and care they put into making sure the dress fit properly really stood out. The shop itself is welcoming and has a great selection of dresses and inspiration throughout the space. My dress now fits beautifully, and I feel so much more confident wearing it. Great workmanship, friendly service, and attention to detail--exactly what you want when trusting someone with an important dress. A plus is that value of the alternations was perfect. I highly recommend G&J Alterations if you need alterations for a special occasion. I'm so glad I found them!

It was about two weeks to have them sewn on and while they did ask me if it was ok to sew through the liner, they did sew through the liner and pockets rendering the inner left pocket unusable. I don't really use the pockets except maybe to put my phone in, but I would have thought that they wouldn't have done that. All in all I had 4 patches sewn on for $80. As you can see, one got sewn right through the inside pocket. I would have like to have been asked about that, but hindsight being 20/20, I guess if I need any more sewn, I'll let them know. This business seems to do a lot of alterations for wedding dresses, so I'm guessing not a lot of bikers are hitting them up to sew their cuts. Just be aware if that's something you need.

After watching a YouTube video that recommended tailoring your clothes to fit your body and the…read morebenefits of making it you look cleaner/nicer, I decided to get some denim jeans tailored for an upcoming trip. Before finding Vins, I contacted two separate dry cleaners who were not able to meet my time requests (Friday drop off, Tuesday pickup). I found Vin's alteration through a Google search and I'm so happy I did. The owner was so very sweet, she is very knowledgeable at what she does and extremely skilled. The location is actually a converted house, that Is well-kept and designed, and conveniently located off the 51 and Shea. Regarding the tailoring, I have a small waist and big butt so my jeans have that annoying gap at the waist. When I arrived at Vin's the owner was very friendly and warm. I tried on my jeans in their well-kept dressing room and she took measurements accordingly. My items were ready on time as promised and ready to go for my trip the following day. When I went to try on the jeans at pick up, I was absolutely STUNNED at the quality of the work. I couldn't even tell that there had been modifications made to the jeans , which is a true testament to her skills since she had to takeoff a total of 5 inches. I wish I had a before for the after picture. It was very seamless and looks and fits perfect. This is my first time getting clothing tailored. While the cost was more expensive than I had guessed/expected it to be (Again; first time tailoring so I wasn't quite sure what to expect with cost) it is certainly something that I see myself continuing doing in the future because of how wonderful my jeans fit after the fact. When/If I do, I will 100% be going back to Vins!!!

I rarely find the need an alterations but if I had to need a be, this is my go to. Vin is not only lovely and knowledgeable, she's fashion forward, talented, and reliable for her alterations. Conveniently located in my neighborhood, I prefer to support local owners. It's in a beautiful space attached to her home. Parking can be a bit tricky since she's on a busy corner. Vin has some of her work displayed on the mannequins and offers shoes if you forgot yours during the dress fitting. I've brought in difficult items and simple items like hemming of my pant suits. Prices range from $15-$45 depending how much changes you need done. She generally will get items returned to you within 1-2 weeks, or even sooner, depending on how busy she is. Her work is superb and you would never know anything was altered other than it fits perfectly to your body. Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are. Every time you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself. Make sure you dress like you are going somewhere better later.
