She was also outright rude, acting as if she did not want to retrieve the customer's order. I asked for a manager; she resisted calling one and displayed an unnecessary attitude. When the manager finally came to the front, she was not helpful either. She did not look for the customer's order and simply told me it was not there. To justify not checking, she stated that she had already told the customer the store did not have the item they ordered. This store has EXTREMELY POOR customer service, and as an African American woman, I was led to believe that the behavior I experienced was prejudiced.

Well its October 2025, and it was like a Ghost town and the food court was by far the saddest one. I think only two places were opened on a Saturday. Lots of stores are closed and the parking lot was completely free. Not much selection now in terms of things. They still have some clothing stores left, but not sparse in terms of styles. The food court is actually clean because of the low foot traffic and someone is constantly cleaning the place. They do have Tesla superchargers here so its a good place to charge and walk around. The chargers are in the corner of the lot and typically just walking to the bathroom and back and most of the charge should be done so not really much time left to wander. It was sad to see and kind of made me feel like life has moved on from my childhood.

I came in here looking for gifts only to find disappointment. Being one of the anchor stores at the mall you would expect it to be packed with a lot of what you may need. I ended up walking around in here looking for a good amount of time. I was surprised that I did find some items. What was a bit off putting were the lines at the registers. That is when you could find a register that was open. When you did find a register that was open you had to wait in extremely long lines. I mean it's one thing to pick up an item in one department but have to traverse to a completely different department in the store to pay for that item. I will say, the service here from the staff was impeccable. The lady that helped me had just delt with three difficult customers when it was my turn. That didn't bother her, she was still a gem to deal with. She was chatty and had a happy demeanor. I would go back to just interact with her.

We should have known that we were going to be in for an interesting experience here when we pulled into the parking lot. Local law enforcement just happened to be on the scene. We honestly don't know what was going on in here, but there was a big manager presence at the front of the store near customer service. We walked up to return our items and had a bit of a wait as the confusion of what was going on was starting to subside. Once we were acknowledged that we were there it was still a few minutes before we were assisted. The girl that assisted us was very nice, and a bit funny, even if it were a dry wit she had. We went through the motions of the return and when it came to my dad receiving the funds back she gave my dad three choices. Gift card, back on the debit card, or cash. Cash was the option as we all know that it can take a few days for it to return to your account. Throughout the transaction we got to witness a funny exchange between the employees. While all the hubbub was going on with law enforcement an associate came to the counter asking for the cart key. One of the many managers that was dealing with the hubbub was informed by the girl helping us of the need. The manager looked a bit frantic while searching the counter for the said cart key. Exasperated, the manager asked where the cart key would be. The girl, with as much unenthusiastic sarcasm simply replied with, "It's hanging on a hook that says 'cart key'." I think there was a roll of the eyes in there too. I'm not sure. I kind of chuckled to myself until we walked away so I could laugh. I think this is a prime example of how competent some managers are in any given setting.

The menswear, shoe, and home & kitchen are all expansive. I recently read that the differences between TJ Maxx and Marshall's are mainly concentrated between the shoes, jewelry, and purses. The new TJ Maxx that recently opened in Chambersburg has a larger variety of purses and has an actual jewelry counter, while Marshall's in Hagerstown has a far superior shoe section. If you're looking for accessories, TJ Maxx in Chambersburg has a much better selection (and you can buy articles of clothing free of taxes while in PA). If you're a fan of shoes, Marshall's in Hagerstown is the better option. Like all Marshall's and TJ Maxx stores, the fun is in the the thrill of the hunt. Marshall's is always rotating their stock, so they always have new things to look at. I'm a huge fan of their food aisle. They have many gourmet non-perishable food items that are great for entertaining or gift-giving. Marshall's also carries many artisan coffees and teas for caffeine lovers. Their kitchenware, bedding, and decor sections are also well-stocked and full of quality items. You see brand name items in the mix all the time! If you're someone who loves bargain hunting, Marshall's is a very fun store!
