It's so awkward to go into an unfamiliar Walmart. But we did it anyway. My dad had a few things he…read morehad to return. We should have known that we were going to be in for an interesting experience here when we pulled into the parking lot. Local law enforcement just happened to be on the scene. We honestly don't know what was going on in here, but there was a big manager presence at the front of the store near customer service. We walked up to return our items and had a bit of a wait as the confusion of what was going on was starting to subside. Once we were acknowledged that we were there it was still a few minutes before we were assisted. The girl that assisted us was very nice, and a bit funny, even if it were a dry wit she had. We went through the motions of the return and when it came to my dad receiving the funds back she gave my dad three choices. Gift card, back on the debit card, or cash. Cash was the option as we all know that it can take a few days for it to return to your account. Throughout the transaction we got to witness a funny exchange between the employees. While all the hubbub was going on with law enforcement an associate came to the counter asking for the cart key. One of the many managers that was dealing with the hubbub was informed by the girl helping us of the need. The manager looked a bit frantic while searching the counter for the said cart key. Exasperated, the manager asked where the cart key would be. The girl, with as much unenthusiastic sarcasm simply replied with, "It's hanging on a hook that says 'cart key'." I think there was a roll of the eyes in there too. I'm not sure. I kind of chuckled to myself until we walked away so I could laugh. I think this is a prime example of how competent some managers are in any given setting.

Shop workers I encountered were all very nice. The food court is completely empty! Everything looked boarded up! I walked in there with my 4 year old who had to use the bathroom and did not feel safe walking back the corridor of the food court to take her to the restroom. Literally no one was in the food court building that I could see. Thankfully one of the shops graciously let me take her in theirs. If you want food the only place is the steakhouse outside the outlets. They do still have some good store options left I like - bath and body works, Janie and Jack, Kate spade and if you need furniture I know the last place you think is an outlet mall but you got to check out Legacy Furniture in the back. Amazing quality custom furniture. It's pricey but worth every dollar! This is a convenient location to Winchester. I don't like driving all the way to Leesburg anymore and would love to shop here more if there were more options to shop from. Please consider attracting some better stores. It will likely never happen but I would love to see Tory Burch, some home decor places like Kirklands, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, etc. Heck, why not see if some regular stores like a Tjmaxx/Homegoods would move in? That would be awesome! I hope the next few years see some improvements!

Well its October 2025, and it was like a Ghost town and the food court was by far the saddest one. I think only two places were opened on a Saturday. Lots of stores are closed and the parking lot was completely free. Not much selection now in terms of things. They still have some clothing stores left, but not sparse in terms of styles. The food court is actually clean because of the low foot traffic and someone is constantly cleaning the place. They do have Tesla superchargers here so its a good place to charge and walk around. The chargers are in the corner of the lot and typically just walking to the bathroom and back and most of the charge should be done so not really much time left to wander. It was sad to see and kind of made me feel like life has moved on from my childhood.

Ugh, if I didn't have to, I would not have stopped here. Before my trip I needed to stop and grab…read morean extra power cord. I had did that the day prior and when I got home and opened the package to pack the cord noticed that it was damaged to the point that it was not usable. I figured that I would just stop along my travel and exchange the broken one for a new one. GPS will show you where to go when you don't know the area. Exactly what happened here. I wish now that I would have went elsewhere. I walked in and went to the area they had setup for customer service. Told them that all I wanted to do was exchange it for exactly what I had. They kept the item and I went back to the electronics department to find my replacement. I searched and searched and searched for a replacement. I wasn't seeing what I needed. I went to look for an associate to see if I am just blind or if they were indeed out of the item. When I saw an associate I went over and asked if I could get some help. It was a bit funny, I had asked one and had two come to help me. When I pointed out the item that I needed she used her little scanner thing and scanned the peg. Her database was telling her that there were two of them in stock. But not on the peg. We looked through every peg as a just in case. Nothing. Walked the department to make sure there wasn't a display with them on, nothing. Then the truth comes out. They had no one with knowledge of the department currently working. So even though the associate was answering my questions, her knowledge of the department was nil. She was just giving a blanket answer. Working retail prior in my life I would have gone to the back to check and see if it was just sitting on a shelf waiting to be placed on the floor. Or at least that's what I used to do when working. We would constantly pull items from the back to see if they could go out, if they didn't, they just went back to the back. I ended up just buying the charging cord that was shorter because it was needed and I didn't have any other time to stop elsewhere before reaching my destination. Went to the front and told the associate I was dealing with what the situation is. This is the irritating part. For me exchanging an item that was damaged to no fault of my own and having to get an item that was similar but not exact, I could receive the difference back to me via put back on my debit card (which is my money and basically cash in these days) or I could receive it back as store credit. For real, you think I want to carry around a gift card with like two dollars on it. I guess I'll just wait the three to five business days for it to show back up in my banking account.
