Not best view but immediately to left entering store with hats against front windows

Awesome old time general store....believe been running for 100 years. Wide variety of items, including soaps, clothing, hats, watches, knives, and so so much more. If in the area, check it out! It wasn't in our area, but made it a point to take a little sidebar just for this ....worth it!

The store has plenty of items for sale: old wooden toys, woven rugs, wooden utensils, beeswax candles, knives, hinges, etc. Many of the items are made locally. It has a small section dedicated for children.

This place is very unique with loads of things that once you start looking around you will think I was looking for something like that. There many different rooms to explore through then once you get to the back room there is hand made furniture that you can purchase and on Thursday nights the locals come down and play live music. Stop in there is something for everyone here.

Great place to not only browse but to find some long, lost items from yesteryear. It really has hardware items you won't find at the big box stores. Love the wood burning stove!

We have been coming here over the past five years. The employees are friendly and helpful. I have purchased several black bristled brooms. The general store is on 230 and offers a variety of products. We have bought pumpkin butter and a cow bank. The store also has nice furniture. Liked their rocking chairs.

Milo, the store kitty. Love him!

Love this place. What a fun store to explore and enjoy. I especially loved the "manager" aka Milo the big fluffy store cat. So many interesting and fun things in the store. Next time we're in town, we'll be back here for sure.

A sign like this doesn't make me feel welcome.

Delight on so many levels. Best place in town for trinkets, lore, music and more , not to mention the community support for musicians.

We've been loyal customers for over 12 years and have always appreciated the charm and warmth your store offers. Unfortunately, this visit was quite the opposite. My husband--just a week out from emergency surgery--was on his first short outing. We were both wearing masks for medical reasons. While that shouldn't matter, the staff member behind the register treated us with clear hostility from the moment we walked in. I greeted her politely, but she responded with an eye roll and a visibly unwelcoming attitude after looking at my mask first. That is ableism. Before my husband even entered the store, she abruptly and rudely asked, "Um, is that a service dog?" I answered honestly that our dog was not. Rather than calmly explaining store policy, she became increasingly short and vague. When I asked for clarification--since we've previously visited with our dog after receiving permission--she abruptly mentioned the health department had "just been in," and seemed flustered when it became clear we were unaware of any new policy. The tone throughout was dismissive, confrontational, and deeply unprofessional. Others in the store appeared just as surprised. It wasn't just about the dog; it felt discriminatory and ableist. We were simply trying to enjoy a brief outing and pick up a gift, but left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. This experience does not reflect the Shepherdstown community or the reputation your store has built over the years. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would appreciate a response, and I'm happy to revise or remove my review once this is addressed--it was simply my only way to reach you when other attempts failed.

It's larger than it looks from the outside (there's even an upstairs with used/old books that would be easy to miss, since the staircase is sort of hidden behind a wall of the shop), and they have a pretty great selection for a small independent bookshop. I just needed one book (I thought I might finish the memoir I'd brought with me on my weekend trip to the area), but I left with...3? I can't even remember. I kept finding more intriguing books! It's charming, has a great inventory, and seems a great shop! With so many independent and even chain bookstores closing, it feels like a lot of towns/neighborhoods don't have a bookshop anymore. Shepherdstown residents are lucky to have a shop as wonderful as Four Seasons - a place big enough that you can browse and find a book you didn't even know about before you wandered in. Really a charming shop. I'd happily return if I make to Shepherdstown again!

Unfortunately, he surrounds himself with 2 women, one named Mary, the other with long dark hair (sorry, don't know her name), who are consistently condescending, purposely obtuse, and, sorry to say it, liars. We have had problems with Mary for over a year. She will gleefully look down her nose at you and work diligently at making you feel like an unworthy intrusion. We are both successful highly educated professionals (one with PhD and one with Masters +) and make a very good combined income. Yet, apparently, we are not good enough to grace Christian's Shop. Yesterday, we were clearly told by Mary to come into the store today to get my Rolex watch band replaced while we wait. Mary stated, "Yes. Tomorrow will be good because the Christmas rush is winding down and the goldsmith will be in." So, we arrive today, even rearranged my work schedule to do so, only to be told by the long haired woman that "Mary clearly told you that you could drop it off today, but that the goldsmith couldn't get to it until well after the New Year. I even overheard her conversation with you yesterday." We confronted her on this (my wife heard all yesterday as we were on speaker phone), but these ladies stuck together and vehemently denied all. . . downright willing to lie! Unbelievable! I was hoping to actually talk with Christian today to initiate a 2-3 ct diamond custom anniversary ring for my wife. However, since we have to continuously deal with these very unpleasant women, we will have to find someone else. So sorry Christian! You may want to rethink your front desk staff, as I seriously believe they are harming your business.

Honestly, I know of several stores that clean and check stones at NO cost as a customer courtesy, no matter where these rings have been purchased. I will take my business elsewhere, Thank You.
