The process started off well with the owner returning my call very quickly. I was sent a quote but then was told they "forgot" to include a $720 "processing fee" to use their storage facility. That's a lot of money to forget. I thought that was an exorbitant amount so had to scramble last minute to find another storage facility. I asked if a few wardrobe boxes could be thrown in as compensation for this error but was told they could only give me some scrap pieces of cardboard to use to cover my couch. I thought I would receive an email a few days before the move to confirm the date and time (which had not been advised) but I had to contact them. I also thought I would receive an email after my move to make sure all was good with the service received but again, nothing. Don't even bother shopping around: You will wish you engaged Belfor moving for your moving needs. First of all Craig, the owner, is very responsive. He is a pleasure to deal with and he followed through on everything that he said he would do - from giving me a quote, to sending the contracts, precisely communicating what time the movers would arrive, what we could expect, etc. All paperwork (and payment) can be done electronically, which is really convenient. Craig made it very easy on the front end. Edwin and Josh, our fabulous movers, were seriously fantastic. They showed up on time, communicated great, were very accommodating and careful with our items, and it was just a great experience (from a high level of customer service perspective), overall. They even let us know they thought our move might run 15 to 30 minutes over (which it didn't, because they were so efficient) - but I really appreciated them thinking it through and giving us a heads up so that we could have the option to tell them when to stop moving items (we actually did a move from Sonoma to Petaluma and subsequently engage them to move some furnishings from the house into the garage), if necessary. I was even able to purchase some wardrobe boxes on the fly... Our daughter had way more hanging clothing than we expected and not enough closet space; so we bought a couple of the wardrobes so that she would be able to keep the clothing hung until she was ready to put it away. Everything was seriously effortless and I was just blown away because my other moving experiences had not been this great. I don't even know where to start. We hired Craig and his team for the 2nd time. The first time was amazing, but I did the packing. It's been almost a week with our second move with them and we're only about half way through it. It's a disaster, from unmarked boxes, (in garage) to boxes that were marked from another job. The unmarked boxes are mostly in garage. Where boxes/tubs were stacked so high in the center we can't safely access them. One box was stacked up against a light fixtures. Our garage was packed/ stored in tubs on racks. However wasn't put back that way. There's not one box labeled living room. However some of my living room things were packed with kitchen things. An entire box of plastic Tupperware/ deli containers, were all wrapped individually in most cases, and put in a couple of boxes. Would've fit in one. Wrapped a single set of BBQ tongs, but not a hand painted tiki statue. No, those were crammed into a box with an upside down crosswave cleaner and a metal dolly. Wooden shoe rack, put in box with a plant and not much else. Items taken apart and not packed together. Other items labeled pans, however, were not pans. They would literally take half of a set of something in another room and pack it in with kitchen stuff. When replacing the bed, they left off a leg from the frame, when approached to finish the job the crew member was rude. The bed still isn't right, but it may have something to do with brackets we've found. Rubber suction chips missing from glass top printer , as well as half of them missing from dresser tops. All boxes marked kitchen have been emptied, but still can't find a lot of small kitchen dishes. I'm so disappointed in the way the owner has handled this. He's the owner. We hired them, trusted them. They were clearly in a hurry. If I was in better physical shape I wouldn't have needed the help. Still not done, have 2 more rooms and the garage. They over used boxes and wrapping paper, at this point we believe to increase cost. Again a plastic tumbler lid with 2 pieces of wrapping paper. Because of the horrid packing and not being able to put things away because half of them are missing..... chaos. The one thing we paid them a lot of money to avoid. I have tons of photos and videos. It's never taken me a week to unpack, ever. I don't recommend Belfor Moving to anyone. The crew AREN'T professional packers. I will update this review, if needed. Please, they may not have many bad reviews, but I have photos of all of this. Again it's been about a week. The first 4/5 days I couldn't even cook a meal. I can't stand this. We really had such a great first experience with them, but this...... it's disgusting and it's sad. There's so much more, but I need to get back to fixing the mess. Still have ALL the bar glasses, some are irreplaceable. I'm nervous. Update: not all photos uploaded. If anyone one needs more just ask. We have video as well. UPDATE: THIS HOME WAS NOT FULLY FURNISHED, ONE ROOM HAD A BED, ONLY. A CARD TABLE THAT WAS TAKEN DOWN. I DIDN'T "TALK" HIM INTO DOING THE JOB FASTER. WHY WOULD I WANT TO DO THAT TO MYSELF. HIS RESPONSE IS HALF TRUTHS. WE HAD TO SIGN OFF ON THE JOB. THE KID STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF FIXING THE BED TO GO FOLD BLANKETS IN THE TRUCK. CRAIG SAYS WE COULD'VE TOLD THEM TO FIX CERTAIN THINGS.... THE KIDS WAS RUDE ABOUT FIXING WHAT HE STARTED. WE WOULD ASSUME THAT IT WOULD CAUSE A PROBLEM. THEY BROUGHT THINGS THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO, LIKE TIKI TORCH FUEL. THAT SPILLED. IT WASN'T THAT THEY DIDN'T PACK "MY WAY" WHO THE HECK PACKS LIKE THAT. THIS IS EXHAUSTING. ALL THE BOXES IN THE GARAGE, EXCEPT ONE WERE LABELED THINGS LIKE "JEREMY ROOM" WE DON'T KNOW A JEREMY. A LOT OF THESE BOXES WERE USED. AS THEY DIDN'T MOVE OUR CLOTHES. IT'S SAD THAT HIS RESPONSE IS SO FULL OF DEFENSE. I WAS PRESENT, JUST NOT GETTING IN THE WAY. HE WASN'T HERE. AS FAR, AGAIN, AS PACKING STYLE. EXAMPLE, BLENDER, TAKEN APART AND PACKED IN DIFFERENT BOXES....... AS FAR AS THE HOME SIZES AS I EXPLAINED TO THE OWNER THE OLD HOUSE 1639 SQ FT, NEW HOUSE 1752 SQ FT IT'S JUST SHAPED DIFFERENTLY AND HAS STANDARD CEILING HEIGHT AND NOT VAULTED CEILINGS LIKE THE OLD HOUSE. THEY WERE JUST IN A HURRY. WE CAN'T COMPLETE ANY FORMS UNTIL WE'RE FINISHED TRYING TO SORT OUT WHERE EVERYTHING IS. THE PHOTOS ARE PROOF. ANOTHER UPDATE: Just unpacked my husband's barware. They seem disorganized. It took me several weeks to my move scheduled because every time I called, the owner was away from his computer and needed to call me back when he was in the office. But he never did. I eventually got my move scheduled. The movers were prompt and polite and professional. Everything went smoothly. Last March, we received an unsolicited offer on our home with a request to close in 10 days. We were elated. But were also not looking forward to moving an entire 3BR 2BA house from Point A to Point A, only a mere five miles away in 10 days. Yeah, yeah, you can always do it yourself and save some money? But really? Aren't some things worth paying professionals to do? And honestly, isn't that why you work? Every dollar we spent on them helping us was worth 10 times more than the stress, anxiety, and energy it saved us overall. A godsend. A good decision. Getting an estimate was effortless. COVID was still ON. So, we did it via FaceTime as I walked through the house, pointing out things that we would pack or move and what we wanted them to take care of. I was given a chance to review the estimate and decide what we would take care of and what we wanted them to handle. We settled on a price and scheduled the move. Honestly? They should have taken care of EVERYTHING! Had we not done anything ourselves, they'd have come and packed, wrapped, and moved EVERYTHING. That, too, would have been TOTALLY worth it. And we'd have had to do nothing literally. On the morning of the move, the boxes we packed up Belfor moved, and *everything else* -- EVERYTHING ELSE -- Belfor wrapped, packed up, and moved. We had Belfor do our move From south Napa to North Napa . It included 3 stops to pick up furniture from storage , our old home and then our temp. apt. I was surprised at how careful and professional they were. They were right on time and showed up with 2 trucks and three men Kyle,Sal and Alex. Everthing was wrapped if appropriate and stored securely for the move. They placed our stuff where we wanted it and set up beds etc. The estimate was for 7 hours and they did it in 6 and came in under the quote , just as Craig ,the owner stated ,we paid less than the estimate. The best, most professional moving experience we have ever had, Craig and his team were amazing from the very first call about moving our company's office! Craig Belfor came to our house after I determined that he would be the low-cost mover of the three I called for moving us from Napa to Quincy CA. A quick walk-through and I got an immediate written estimate of the cost, plus a few tips on how to make the move easier. The moving crew showed up when they said they would, and carefully loaded everything in sight, even a 700 pound memorial bench. They provided boxes without additional cost and wrapped everything well. They arrived in Quincy even earlier than scheduled and did a thorough and complete job of moving us in with no loss of goods or even scratches. In a panic on a Friday evening, I called Craig to ensure that an important box was not left on their truck. He reassured us that we would find it, that the truck was empty, and to ignore the value but look for anything that was bigger that could hold the important box. Sure enough, it showed up after a diligent search. Craig was easy to work with, his employees very pleasant and helpful, and his service complete and very responsive to our needs. Talk about professional - these guys are it! Arrived a bit late due to traffic but called to let us know. Evaluated each situation (two separate moves involving one piece of VERY heavy furniture each) and selected the best method to get them out and in of four difficult sites. One was on a second floor, another through the backyard which was dirt with extremely uneven pavers. I've moved myself dozens of times (when I was younger!) and know a thing or two about it. I could tell these guys knew exactly what they were doing. The truck was well stocked with everything they needed for safely addressing each situation and they performed flawlessly. I recently had Belfor Moving move my family of 4 from one house to another in Napa. We REGRET it so much. Do NOT choose them to move you, there are plenty of other good moving companies in the area. Craig Belfor is the most rude, disrespectful, insulting professional that I have ever come across, and I cannot believe he is a small business owner who treats his customers the way he does. On moving day there were disappointments and things not done to our expectation, which resulted in major inconvenience and cost on our part, but we were polite and did not take it up with the movers at that time. But when I contacted Craig afterwards to discuss our concerns, offer feedback, and see what kind of agreement could be reached since we were displeased and out a good amount of money due to his company, he was unbelievably unprofessional and rude. We have contacted him by letter as well and he has completely ignored us. Some of our main complaints are as followed: 1) We were assured verbally and in writing that Belfor Moving would bring adequate floor coverings, and it was noted on the estimate. But the coverings did not cover much of the downstairs and did not even make it down the upstairs hallway, let alone into the bedrooms. We have young children and this was very important to us, plus it was a rainy day. workers walked all over our house with wet and dirty boots and we are having to hire a carpet cleaner to clean the carpets. 2) Items that were in the quote, including wardrobe boxes and artwork, were refused to be moved unless we paid $500 extra beyond our quote. We were just supposed to leave our clothes and paintings behind even though the quote stated those items would be moved? We paid the extra $500 on moving day in desperation, but still were left with a house of items that were not moved (including items from inside drawers that were left in the middle of my living room when we were told that drawers did not need to be emptied). We had to rent a u-haul on the day after our move and spend the day moving the final items when we were supposed to be cleaning our old house instead. 3) A door was left off the hinges. My husband had to put the door back on its hinges himself, the day after we moved, because the movers left it in this state. When I brought this up with Craig Belfor, his response to me was literally "so I owe your husband for 5 seconds of his time to put a door back on?? THAT'S what you are complaining about?" I am not kidding. That is exactly what his response was. 4) The crew spent much time discussing with each other whether certain items were or were not on "the list", including whether they had to move a child's stool and counting the number of chairs in the house versus how many were on the list. Of course all of the chairs were meant to be moved. Why does a list need to be consulted? Did your workers think that I meant to ask for 7 chairs to be moved instead of 8, leaving 1 chair behind? Yet for everything, the strict adherence to the items on the list slowed things down tremendously and certainly seemed petty. When we were paying by the hour to be moved, it seems suspect that the movers were not efficient. I have moved many times and have never encountered a "if it's not on this list then we're not moving it" policy. So if Craig missed something during his hasty and rushed walk through, his policy is to have the customer sign a change order and pay more money or the movers would simply leave it behind. We were out $679 extra dollars due to Belfor moving errors, and on top of it all was Craig's rude and distasteful attitude.
