We ordered take out for dinner last night and it was terrible. O thought it was a good sign that when I called to order, they were obviously busy. I was out on "hold" for a long time and could hear and the bustle of orders, payment, etc. I ordered the special chow vein with chop suey for $2 extra (there was none), sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, egg rolls, and chicken salad. Everything had the same smell to it. It must be the fish sauce or vinegar that they use or something. But the smell and taste was overwhelming. If I just ate the noodles of the chow mein, that wasn't so bad but that was it. The sweet and sour chicken was ok, and for the most part, the chicken salad was ok except the pieces of chicken again, had that same taste. I can't really describe it. Anyway, those two dishes are the only reason I gave 2 stars. I normally love leftover Chinese food for breakfast the next day. Not this, I had to throw it away. And that's a crime in this economy.

We ordered the combo #5 (orange chicken, chow mein, fried rice and pork), the pork egg foo Yong, and a side of eggplant. The portions are ginormous and the quality is pretty good too. We enjoyed everything -- the egg foo Yong was fried and had a little bit of gravy, the eggplant was tender though it was missing some spicy so we added chili oil to it. We also enjoyed the orange chicken, fried rice and chow mein on the combo plate. There were enough leftovers for 2-3 meals. The price was also very fair and the staff kind and attentive despite how busy they are. It's the type of place where the servers ask how your family is doing if they haven't seen you in awhile. Definitely a solid place for Chinese and I can see why they are doing so well!

I got the combo meal with pork fried rice, pork chow mein, and orange chicken for just $9.75 after tax. Part of the restaurant is under construction, but I ordered takeout and my food was still hot and fresh by the time I got home. The food itself was about a 3/5 for me. The fried rice smelled fragrant but tasted a bit dull, the chow mein was plain and had less meat than I expected, while the orange chicken was delicious but less tangy and a smaller portion than I anticipated. Overall, I'd rate the food 3.5/5, but I rounded up to 4/5 because of the excellent customer service. The waitress who took my order was genuinely kind and thoughtful, and that made the experience much better.

It's sad because we were down the street yet drove across town to find the place was closed. So back we go toward the tower district to Ming's. We've been on the hunt for a good Chinese place ever since Shanghai closed. For me, it's an about the chow mein, and for my wife, she wants good orange chicken. I think it's hard to mess up Broccoli Beef, so I don't stress on that one. I think I've only once had bad broccoli beef. Our final standard is fried rice. That was our order and this is how it went. Starting with the fried rice, it wasn't fried. It's like they through the ingredients in a rice cooker, lots of butter, and that was it. It wasn't bad. I've definitely had worse, it just wasn't "fried" rice. Next was the orange chicken. It was sweet, but it didn't have that citrusy glaze that I would associate with orange chicken. It also wasn't crispy. Finally, the chow mein. We got the special chow mein because I like the variety of meats. It was just OK. If we come back, I think we'll just get the beef chow mein. It had better flavor than the other meats. But by no means has our hunt for a new Chinese restaurant ended. Another gripe of mine will be the hot mustard. I, for one, enjoy the overpowering aroma that it has. This "hot" mustard was more mustard than anything else. If we come back, maybe we will do sweet and sour pork since we know we don't like the orange chicken
