    Buffett and restaurant

We went on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and won't be back. The buffet offers limited choices and at least half of those were dried out. The potstickers were so dry that they felt and sounded like hockey pucks. It was difficult to bite into them and they were very chewy. This is just one example of many things that just weren't palatable. Choose another place if looking for a Chinese buffet.

Coworker showed me this place during lunch and I loved it, there was plenty to choose from! Their peanut chicken and crab ragu were my favorite choices. The staff was wonderful, clean spot as well! I'll definitely be back

Food was good, some of the hot food was cold, ham salad on potato skin ? Well maybe ? Hot and sour soup was hot and tasty. Sushi was average, heavy on the rice in the rolls. Crab Rangoon was nice. Mac and cheese ? Watery. General chu chicken was sweet and mild ( need spice ) overall place was clean and had a nice lunch. Chinese food ? Well maybe.

Six heated stations full of food!

Ok, this is the typical American Chinese buffet you'd find in most urban and suburban, as well as touristy cities such as Glendale, Orlando or Falls Church. So, having said this, I am basing my rating and review as compared to similar American-Chinese buffet joints. As such, I thought this place was very nice--clean, bright, friendly wait staff, and as expected--American-Chinese food (not real Chinese, mind you!). For what you pay, I thought the selection was quite generous, tasty and palatable, and expected for a place like this. SO.... if you are expecting a Peking Gourmet or a PF Chang's, this is not the place for you (I thought the other reviews were a little too ridiculous in their expectations!). BUT... if you're expecting the typical cheap, American-Chinese buffet place that serves the food that you;d expect (Gen Tso's, chicken coconut, salmon slathered in mayo, mushroom buttons with stuffing, chicken skewers, beef with broccoli, etc. y'know, the usual!), then this is the place for you! For what it is, I thought it was a great value. (ps Come early and you know the food is fresh!).

View from our table. There are 6 buffet counters to choose from.

If you've ever been to any Chinese Buffet you know you're rolling the dice in regards to a good experience. Sometimes every single thing about your trip meets or exceeds your expectations, while other times things fall flat. Today I had a bit of a middle road experience, but noticed some new things that help add to the experience. First impressions/ service: when you first enter you're greeted by an employee at the front desk - if you meet the young lady who seems to be there all the time, you're in luck. I'm afraid I don't know her name, but she is exceptionally friendly and is great at remembering customers (once I left a pair of gloves behind and she brought them to my table when I came back months later. Very impressive). The dining area is also relaxing for a casual environment, with Chinese style decorations hanging from the walls and high ceilings. The front wall of the restaurant is almost entirely windows, so there is a lot of natural light coming in to make everything look bright and appealing. The staff keeps the tables clean and takes notice of when your plates or cups are empty. They also wipe down the counters near the food trays pretty frequently. The men's bathroom wasn't really spectacular - single occupancy and not all that clean. The Food: it's hard to judge the food at a buffet if you ask me. On one hand, if you know what you're getting into and craving specifically that, then everything works out. On the other, of you expect to find more than one or two items to write home about then you'll likely be out of luck. For me, I enjoy the food. Across the 6 Buffet tables here you'll find 4 that have main lunch/dinner dishes, one with desserts and some salad ingredients, and one with sushi and some other cold options. Some staples like fried rice, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken are easy to pass on here, but some of the more unique dishes are worth trying (i'm looking at you Salt and Pepper chicken). They recently started preparing hot crab legs (in the past they'd be chilled in ice) and moved some of their pastries from the dessert counter to a shelf above their ice cream bin. One dish I specifically like is the Crab Rangoon that is served in little bite sized pastry pockets instead of the standard triangle shape. The bottom line is, this restaurant will help cure any cravings you might have so long as you know what you like from here. If you know you like 5 things and eat those you'll have a great time. If you're trying a little bit of everything then you likely won't be blown away. However you approach it, I think it's worth a try either way. You might just be surprised with what you find.

Nice decor, clean tables and attentive staff. Great variety, food could be rotated a bit more to ensure heat in dishes that needed to be kept hot. Our drinks were not filled with any type of frequency. So, four stars. Good food. Crab Rangoons were off the hook. Finished up with a beautifully cooked sugar donut. Oh and they should add more variety for the sushi. If you can afford to serve crab legs you can get some fish for sushi too, not just the crab sticks.

Sadly the breakfast buffet we hoped to go to was done serving breakfast, even though we called & were told otherwise. Ended up here instead.

Was provided a hot lemon infused cloth to clean up prior to going up to the stations to eat. Cup never emptied without an ask for refill. Very attentive the entire time. We were sat in the 'C' dining area area. There were room upon room so there's plenty of seating. Each room with a slightly different theme. Ours had a wall of beautiful fish tanks. The dining area, food stations and bathrooms were all very clean, which is so important at a buffet. They even have gloves at the end of each station in case you didn't want to touch the serving utensils with your bare hands. The variety of food goes from everything you can imagine at a Chinese buffet like sushi and fried rice to American options like burgers and fries, to surprises in-between like New England clam chowder and prime rib. Tons of dessert- hard ice cream, cakes, pies, fruit, jello, even Crème brûlée and waffles. One of my favorite surprises was the variety of mocktails. Most places offer me pop as a mocktail or a Shirley Temple at best. Decent pricing. Father's Day special dinner menu was $50/pp (Canadian) about $36/pp (American) which is pretty great for all you get and that's WITH their high tax. I believe the refular pricing is about $10/pp less. A must try only 30 minutes from Western NY.

There's another buffet in the area that people generally like, but I've never been there. We visited Amherst Buffet last in September 2023 to check out their new location. I don't really know why, but we never went back. After today's visit, maybe I know why. They moved again! This time they took over the building where the Chinese grocery store used to be--Ni Hoowa. We were very curious and couldn't wait to see inside after the transformation. On Thursday around lunch time, this place was packed. It was shocking to see it, because there is a very large dining room area and it was almost fully occupied. I asked about a booth, and the hostess actually spent some time finding one for us in the perfect spot. I should start my review by saying that all the servers, and working crew were very nice and friendly. The food looked good. For lunch, there were typical dishes, nothing crazy. From two kinds of soup (hot and sour was nothing special), appetizers, lots of chicken, some pork, shrimp, fish, clams, of course rice, noodles (even Shrimp Alfredo). Also I saw pizza, fries, fried chicken looked awesome, wings, mac & cheese, etc. Let's not forget about desserts and fruits. The melons were perfectly ripe and delicious. If you enjoy Chinese Buffets, be sure to stop by and check this place out for yourself. I'm certain that at this price point, you'll have nothing to lose. The visit could turn out to be a really fun experience. I almost forgot, there is also a Hibachi Station on-site where a chef prepares dishes to order. What actually turned us off was 'Salt Overload'. Why do they use so much salt?! It's possible to avoid the most sugary sauces, but salt? The food would be tastier without too much salt, or MSG? (OMG!). The sushi was also a disappointment. There was hardly any of it during our stay, and what I did try wasn't good. One day I would definitely check Amherst Buffet during dinner hours, just to see what's cooking. P.S. Today was the official last day of school for students so that's why this place was full of families and kids. They celebrated :).

First, I want to give credit where it is due Antoinette our waitress, was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, respectful, and did her best to provide good service despite the environment she was working in. Mrs Brown was also very sweet and kind, and both of them carried themselves professionally. Now with that said, everything else about this visit was unacceptable. The overall aesthetics of this location were horrible. The carpet was visibly dirty, the entire establishment smelled extremely unpleasant, and at times it had an odor that was honestly nauseating. It gave off a strong impression of poor sanitation and lack of upkeep. For a place that serves food, that is completely unacceptable especially for a public dining environment. What makes this even worse is that I brought residents with me, and I felt embarrassed and concerned the entire time. This is not a setting that feels safe, clean, or appropriate for vulnerable individuals. It was uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and frankly disgusting. No matter how good the service from Anita and Miss Brown was, it cannot make up for how poorly maintained this restaurant is. Cleanliness is not optional in the food industry it is the bare minimum and this location failed badly. I would not recommend this establishment until serious improvements are made to cleanliness, maintenance, and overall environment.

It seems that $50 per person for a meal is the most common for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in many of the surrounding locations. I had passed by this place a couple of times, and never really stopped. I went online and checked…read moreout the reviews which are all pretty bad except for a few four-star reviews. I thought I'm going to have to check this place out for myself. So here's what I discovered. The food is okay, not amazing but just okay. Probably the lowest priced breakfast I have seen in Niagara Falls. They do not offer you free water, it's all bottled. Coffee is 4 bucks, which is pretty standard. I think the modus operandi is this: they get you in with the cheap buffet and then up charge you for anything else you want to order. Which I get, the buffet is always a loss leader, and they get you on the drinks which are marked up significantly. So let's talk about the buffet itself. Based on what I read from the other reviews, the hot ticket would be to get there right when it opens. That way the food has just come out, it's fresh and hot, and there is enough of it. I had the eggs, the sausage, and a piece of French toast and a waffle. I did go back for seconds to get a bowl of fruit, and try out the tater tots. The food was okay. Again, not the greatest I've ever had and not the worst I've ever had. It was a perfunctory breakfast. But again I tell you you need to get the right when they open to get the best stuff. Would I go here again? I don't think so. There are plenty of other places in Niagara Falls that are way better for just a little bit more money. However, if you have a group of people you're trying to feed on the cheap, this is a place to go. Case in point while I was there, two busloads of Mennonites came in and swarmed the buffet. Bottom line? It's a cheap breakfast, and you will walk out of there for under 20 bucks if you just have a coffee.
