Dorothy offered to schedule a tech that afternoon and then started running through the most common causes. With her on the line I found a blown fuse on the units motherboard and was able to replace it (props to Home Depot for having them in stock). While the technicians themselves were friendly, my overall experience with Summit was disappointing…read more-- particularly given that they had been highly recommended by a neighbor. After the fourth visit and two failed inspections, I asked to speak with the owner. He said he'd show up on the final day and didn't. Not showing up after committing to do so speaks volumes. On multiple occasions, employees attempted to -- or did -- walk through my home beyond where work was being completed with their shoes on. This is a basic courtesy that should not have needed to be addressed. On the final day, an employee complained about the time spent waiting for the inspector to arrive. After five+ weeks of doing exactly that myself, I couldn't help but laugh internally. Most importantly, Summit advertises a "100% Right or 100% Free" guarantee on their website. These are not complicated words -- 100% means 100%, and free means free. There is no secondary meaning to either. When I raised this, I was told it essentially means they will keep trying until the job is done correctly -- which is admirable in theory, but falls well short of what "100% Free" implies when a customer has invested THOUSANDS of dollars. After reading the other reviews, I'm hoping the problem with my AC wasn't just a leak somewhere that could have been fixed for much less. I would strongly encourage potential customers to clarify what that guarantee truly means before signing a contract, and to get everything in writing.

Austin and Noah are professional, respectful, and clearly take pride in their work. They are also very pleasant to work with. If you're looking for an HVAC company, especially one that knows how to troubleshoot difficult problems and gives straightforward, trustworthy advice, I highly recommend D&A Heating & Air. I paid a total of $200 for a 10 minute job that consisted of two small pieces of tape. The trip fee was $125 which I was fine with, but the extra $75 for two pieces of tape was excessive and unreasonable. When I called to ask about it, I was met with a dismissive tone telling me that was a great price for two pieces of tape. She then said the technician stated he was there for 3 hours when he was only there for 10 minutes. She then told me she'd talk to the boss and get back to me. That never happened, so I followed up a week later only to be told, it was a flat rate and that's the price. This was a frustrating experience from the price and customer service aspect. I asked twice for the technician to call before any work was performed. That didn't happen. Then I was told I would receive a follow up call which didn't happen. I regret referring them to others.

I looked at reviews online for HVAC providers. The reviews for Heatwave (not on their website, which I would expect to be positive) were extremely positive 4.9 on 150+ reviews, almost too good to be true. These guys were a pleasure to deal with. Dimitri, the owner came out promptly to assess the noise issue, diagnosed the problem, and said "I can replace the motor and you can probably get a few more years, maybe", out of this and gave me a ballpark cost. The furnace issues were more severe. I decided to replace both AC & furnace. The price quoted for a Trane unit was very fair. The install crew Ivan & Arvy were very experienced. The good: - the price.....cheap for a reason - available immediately...another red flag The bad: - Super messy. Dust and attic filling from the duct work left all over. Just sitting unleveled on the attic floor joist - duct tape on all the vents with hardly a hint of mastic on metal connections - Left electrical lines uncapped without a junction box.
