This Haitian owned cafe is such a delight, and it was just a walking distance from where I was staying! It shares a similar vibe and atmosphere to other Brooklyn smoothie and juice shops. And they have the lovely patties like jerk plantain, ackee, and more. I checked the menu ahead of time, but my niece and I found ourselves studying it hard when we walked in. So many options! I decided to get a pumpkin spice patty (new to me), oxtail patty, and protein shake. My niece got a red velvet pastry and acai bowl. My patties and smoothie came out in about 10 minutes, and my niece received her pastry when we paid. The acai bowl took quite a long time, but I did notice that it was advertised as being new on their menu. The gentleman that took our order was literally the only one in the cafe, and quite a line formed after we got settled, so power to him! If you walk to the back of the cafe, you will see a door that says the patio is open, and it was a lovely area to sit at. It was hilarious to hear a rooster nearby, feeling just like the islands. The pumpkin spice patty was delicious, but the oxtail patty stole the show. It was also a Haitian style patty, so it was nice to have that since it's so rare for me. My shake had peanut butter and protein in it, so it was heavy, but it was so yummy. My niece liked her pastry and her soluble, although there was some unblended acai in there. They'll get it right. I would definitely return to this cafe, and I hope they continue to do well! read more

I had an a nice experience as a first timer to this cafe. First things first it's absolutely huge! Second things second, it is Black-owned so hooray for MWBE! There are a plethora of options to eat, which include both baked goods and pastries typical of a cafe but also food options available as well. I was pleased by the healthy and tasty patty options I had and I was even more pleased by the service. There is an outdoor seating area in the back that should be completely open for seating as well. This is a great spot for work and chill. read more

Beets Cafe is a hit or a miss depending on what you order. I ordered some patties for breakfast and loved the salmon patty but hated the oxtail patty (simply because no oxtail actually existed inside the patty). All in all, I would try more patties to see which ones are my favorites in addition to the salmon patty. Maybe I will try some of their juices as well read more

This spot is lovely. They make the best Haitian patties I've had. Try the pumpkin patties and the codfish patties. The crust is flaky and the fillings are so tasty. They have a variety of fresh juices and you can even mix your own fruits and or vegetables. I'm planning on trying their pumpkin soup, apparently they only make it on the weekends. Every single time that I am close to Beets, I MUST stop in for my 2 herring patties. I usually can't wait until I get to my destination, so I sit in the car and indulge. Updated: 2/15/2024 The patties are still delicious, and this time I have attached pics :) Unfortunately we arrived in the late afternoon prior to after work crowd and most patties were almost sold out. The salmon (our fav) was def gone but we were able to order ackee, herring, kale, and jerk plantain. The large one is ackee and the smaller one is kale. The ackee is cooked with onions and veggies and the taste is mild and the crust is tender. The kale pattie is just as delicious and has a more pronounced veggie flavor as it's marinated with veggies in its puff pastry crust. As we were recovering from cold + snow days prior to our visit, we ordered a hot drink (matcha added to a latte)...Everything is still Mmm Mmm good. read more

This place is super cute & Vegan friendly. It's small but definitely space for seating to munch, read, work and go. The decor is so creative I love the set up. Great for pictures too. One of / if not my favorite neighborhood spot ! The employees are always kind and the store is always clean and well kept. It's small but there's a seating area. I've came by twice already with one of my good friends. I normally always get a smoothie with peanut butter in it ! It's literally my go to. Stopped in right before hopping on the A train. The pastry cases weren't full but I could smell the warm muffins as soon as I walked in! I ordered their green smoothie and added peanut butter and couldn't resist getting a blueberry muffin. The smoothie had great flavor and consistency and the muffin was exactly what you want from a homemade pastry.
