This place was cool! My family brought me here while I was home visiting and Brandon loved it! The idea of sampling all of the beers on tap is amazing! and they have a coaster for every beer to place with the flight so that you know which is which!...AWESOME!! We all ate here and had a couple drinks too, I ordered the traditional poutine and while I was not impressed it was ok and the service was great. The rest of my family had various items including schnitzel, fish and chips, hamburgers, and mac n cheese and everyone liked their dishes. Visiting the Cambridge area and came across Beer Town. We were pleasently surprised. They have a vast selection of draft beers as well as a good selection of gluten-free beers and ciders as well. Hubby had a burger which he said was fantastic and I had the brisket platter which was also fantastic. Would definitely go back next time we are in the area. read more

Have had a bunch of negative experiences here. One time our waitress came to our table and said 'sorry I'm still drunk from last night'. She went to put our beer orders in and never saw her again. I guess management sent her home... new waitress served us from there and was ok. Absolutely no professionalism for the prices they charge. Really depends who is working I guess. Beer selection is great but I won't return cause the atmosphere sucks. Also watch out for those tap-tables: they tried to rip off my friends and I huge. Beer came out foamy and we got charged for all the froth- probably because the lines weren't cold enough and the waitress had no idea what she was doing. read more

This is a real good place for beer and food. The selection of beer is what I'd expect from a place called beertown. I've tried the burger, fish tacos, Poutine and Mac and cheese and all were really good. My fave is mac and cheese but its a little pricey for mac and cheese. Hospitality and customer service is great! if you really aren't happy with your meal or anything they'll try to make it up to you with comping your food or something else. First time coming here and was overall a fantastic time! Our server was great and helped to recomend a beer flight to try. Got the spinach dip to start and it was really good, and then got the steak salad and pad thai as entrees and both were great. The beer prices are out to lunch. $8.50 for a Mill Street beer? Its brewed in Toronto not on the moon! Its not like they put it on the Space Shuttle and have to fly it to me. Its a can of beer that costs $2.50 at the LCBO. That is some pretty crazy mark up! The building is quite nice so I guess the customers will have to pay for the million dollar renovation. read more

What we've ordered: Martini's Wanton Nachos, Taco Trio (Fish taco, Pork Belly Taco and Brisket Barbacao Taco) Sweet Potato Fries, Fuzzy Peach Bellini We've heard nothing but positive things from our friends about Beertown in Cambridge, so we couldn't wait to try it for ourselves! The restaurant has majority of the seating intended for 4+ people and was actually quite busy for a Tuesday afternoon. After being greeted at the door, we were seated by the Manager. It was nice to see him participate in this and we later saw him personally checking on the cleanliness of the bathrooms. It was somewhat loud inside but still felt like a secluded spot in our deep booth at the back. The theme is clearly beer, the giant fridge at the back was stocked with dozens of brands we've never even heard of before. A sliding ladder the likes of which used in libraries must to be used to reach the top shelves. The lights are re-purposed beer kegs, and there is a tap at every table which we thought was an awesome idea. Some of the TVs could have been better placed in our opinion, some tables have a view of more than 5 at a time while our wall couldn't see any. Their menu is a sheet of paper on a clipboard. While at first glance it looks like a rather small selection, we were impressed by the unique options available. Disappointingly, there are no pictures but their website offers some nice insight of what to expect. It's very creative, they understand pairing food ingredients together for some really inspiring choices. This does come at a cost, we found the prices to be somewhat higher than other places. This restaurant is best for groups, bring your friends for a night of drinking and a nice platter of food to share. The selection of beers, wines and the like is comparable to no other. Having the option of any beer on tap right at your table is really innovative. Our waitress had an excellent attitude. She was pretty diligent considering how busy it was. After seeing what we assume was a dumbstruck look on our face when shown the massive drink list, she asked if we had been before. She explained the menu well and gave us enough time to decide without being intrusive. She was surprised that we both were not drinking, who she thought would be driving later was a little concerning, but none the less our drinks were brought out promptly and our food within 5 minutes. Our food arrived very hot, seemingly small portions but the presentation was impressive. Martini's wanton nachos were really unique, with an interesting Asian inspired twist. Served on a wooden plank, the Brisket Barbacao was the best of the Taco Trio. The meat was absolutely perfect and the sauce brought it to another level. Their tasty Pica de Gallo really made the fish taco perfect, the fish itself was complemented with the unbelievably spicy Cholula sauce. The meat on the pork belly taco was great and the seasoning was suitable but I didn't particularly like the coleslaw on it (solely personal preference). Sweet potato fries were served very hot and these didn't disappoint, the tiny dip provided was delicious but not sufficient enough. Their Peach Bellini, although fantastic but for almost $9, could've had more booze in it. Even though our meals initially looked small, we were quite satisfied when we finished. Beertown is a really interesting place to visit, we were not expecting such a unique place in both the atmosphere and the meal options. It was a rather expensive date night for us but during our meal we could only talk about how great it would be to bring a group of our friends here. It's embarrassing to say that we visited a place named Beertown and didn't try any of their beers but now we have some time to research some of the options available for next time. This was a great time with some really special food and drink options, definitely a cool place for young people that we recommend highly. I just came back home about an hour ago, from this place and I wish, i had come here Sooner! First of all, the waitress was very knowledgeable about the drinks and menu and recommended a bunch of stuff but I got a few of the items, she mentioned! She was very kind and on point to! I got the fish tacos which was Delicious! With sweet potato fries, that came with a Chipotle mayo and a hot sauce for dipping, both were good but I preferred the mayo sauce one! I got 4 different kinds of beer.. one was a strawberry beer, that I really enjoyed and I forgot the rest but thank goodness,I took a photo of it, I posted it, in the photo album for this restaurant! I got the Beertown Brownie, which was good but I wouldn't get it again.. I was craving for some dessert but my taste buds were calling for something else... I got the buffalo style chicken wings and they were good (Of course I asked for them Extra Saucy because you know I'm a Saucy Gaaalllll) it didn't come extra saucy as I asked,no biggie, she came by the table again and I mentioned it to her and it came as fast as stated. There is no shortage of great drinks in this place. Even with a gluten allergy I was able to enjoy myself because they had so many options. Their menu items aren't the greatest but the food is always tasty. In my latest experience the service was really slow and the waitress wasn't consistently checking on us, took us a while to place food orders. Had a lot of fun at Beertown. Great selection of beer of course. The food was good, service was fast and friendly. Prices were a little on the high side. I was in around 1pm on a Sunday - I sat at a table with a beer tap, there were a few fruit flies and all you can smell is beer. Unless I was out drinking I wouldn't sit at one again. The beer choices are always great! We just wish that they had a little more choice for food. The menu seems to get smaller every time we go. Their spinach and artichoke dip used to be our favourite as they used to have it come with 3 different things (chips, bread, and toast) to dip in but they have since changes this. Went here last night with a party of 7. First of all, it's SO loud. My throat hurts this morning from having to talk so loud. It's not a place for a large group unless you are ok with only talking to the person beside you. I ordered a small Caesar salad and the wonton nachos. Both were great. A couple friends had the pad Thai (loved) and a few had the burgers (mediocre). The service was awful. I had my salad bowl sitting in front of me for 20 mins after I finished. I had to ask the server to clear it. The server barely came back to ask if people wanted more drinks. And we were never offered a desert menu. Our server had someone shadowing her so here's hoping that guy learned how not to be :S Here is the worst part. My friend found two LONG hairs in her pad Thai, about half way through the bowl. The hairs were visible when looking at her bowl. She called over the manager and showed him. He was clearly very embarrassed and apologized and took her meal and wine off her bill. My friend was very calm and polite about it but I don't think she will ever be returning to the restaurant. It's too bad because I'm such a huge fan of the other Charcoal Group restaurants. read more

Charcoal group nails the ambiance of their restaurant concepts and Beer town is no exception. It's fun and well designed and strives to be unique. Like most of the charcoal group concepts, the menu sounds better than the execution. I have been dining at their various restaurants for many years and you can chart the cost cutting to food quality ratio quite clearly. Beer town is their take on gastro pub and it's flashy and ambitious with their huge beer list and beer inspired cocktails but a fairly typical gastro pub menu. I gave one of their caesar cocktails made with beer a try and I will not be trying it again. I don't know what the bad juju is with me and charcoal group restaurants, but every single time at every single restaurant the kitchen forgets a key ingredient on whatever it is I order. This time it was the avocado on my california burger. That is just wrong. The avocado was the best part of the meal once they brought it on a separate plate. Overall the experience here is just kind of meh. Opt for one of the many smaller gastro pubs around such as Bent Elbow or Public. read more
