Beertown has definitely improved. I'm not sure if management has changed or something but they seem to have their operations in line which is great. They are really popular and always busy, so definitely call ahead either to book or go early to put yourself on the wait list. The new menu includes many plant-based and gluten-free options. Overall, it is a very diverse menu. It's one of the pricier options in Waterloo but it's nice and they have a great patio in the middle of uptown square.

lively atmosphere making it a great spot for a night out! asked if they could substitute fish to chicken for taco & they said it was not a problem! tacos were huge & super loaded, came with fries and their own take on "ketchup" lol. service was fantastic. visited on thursday evening with no reservation - had to wait 10-15mins. parking lot for the plaza. physical menu available.

I had supper this evening at the Beertown Public House in downtown Waterloo. I ordered Southern Fried Chicken and swapped potato salad for fries. The chicken was good. It was thighs so tender. The cottage dressing was a dill sauce and tasty for dipping (I found the house mustard salty and harsh). Dominnik was my server. He was friendly and took good care of me.

Service was good and food tasted good too. Portions were quite big but food was on the pricier side. Most of the of mains were over $20. Restaurant was spacious and had lots of room, even for big groups. It was not busy when I went but you can always make reservations online for incase

First time to beertown and it was great all around. The service was great, the food was good, great atmosphere and seated on the patio over looking waterloo square. All good things. Recommended.

The menu has changed a bit in the last couple of years and I'm not liking it as much as I used to. Whenever I came here, it would be for the tacos because I really enjoyed them. Tacos and the beer sampler platters drew me in because it was a great deal to have them on tap and try different kinds. Over the years, the menu has changed and there isn't as much variety as before. Service is still kind of slow even if its not extensively busy. I usually went in a group of 3+ and everytime we had asked for something extra, it would take the servers a bit of time before they brought it to us (even after they've circled us a couple of times). The ambiance is still good, nice gastropub overall. But there's a bunch of new pubs popping up in uptown waterloo that I feel would be better to try than this.

Went here 8/8/19 while visiting our son who is a grad student at U Waterloo. Found this on Yelp while looking for a bar later at night ... Sat at the bar in front of a curious device I will call the Wamplefabriculator ... a reddish fruit liquid ina clear tube that the bartender said has to be cleaned daily. I tried it and did not like it, but I am more of an IPA, Stout, anything but that drinker. What I did have was an Omnipollo Prodromus, my first ever "deep fried graham cracker chocolate chunk caramel bar Imperial Stout." Like a meal. So rich, I only had one and closed the tab. LOL. Really good. My son had a Line Pine IPA and said it was also very good. I love the huge size of the place, the variety of brew, the detailed info about each brew, the beer boards on the walls, the Wamplefabriculator, the great service and fair prices. My son has at least five years to go in his PhD program. I will definitely be back.

Starters from top to bottom: Pretzel Meat Board, spinach artichoke pot and truffle parm fries. Would recommend all!

Came here for a girl's night out. Atmosphere was lit and the servers were super nice. Most of the food tasted amazing!! Would def come back again. Side note: do not order the bacon avocado flatbread it's nothing exciting and the flatbread becomes super watery from the tomatoes. It's basically as it says in the title, baked flatbread with tomatoes bacon and avocado slices thrown on top. The menu made it sound super amazing and it was supposed to have goat cheese on it but we didn't see any. Also the sweet board is great but takes a long time for it to come out and our ice cream was a puddle by the time it got to us, so it was sitting under a hot plate for awhile before getting to us. They need to find a way to get all items at one time on the board so its all completed at the same time, no goopy mess! XD

Come get a Stein of beer at Beertown. For a couple extra dollars, you can take it home. And while you are at it, order some fish and chips too. They dont skimp on the tartare sauce, or the sweet potato fries. The fish was delicious!

I think most people are attracted to the ambience of this place - really nice decor and setup. Plus, there's room for large groups. The service is fairly good here and the food comes timely. We had a group of 7 (mostly guys) and they sat us down at one of the semicircle booths, which we discovered comfortably fit 5, so we just moved to the tables. You'd think that they'd know it doesn't fit more than 6 people (maybe all girls?) So we moved to a different table, and 3 of the plates were noticebly dirty (could see ketchup stains on them). No big, asked for new plates. They obviously have a huge variety of drinks and beer selection. In terms of cocktails/lighter drinks, I've had their light paddle in the past, which was pretty good. The somer daiquiri I had last night was pretty good as well. They have an interesting menu, with poutine, burgers, schnitzel, big salads, tacos, etc. I've had the pork belly poutine on one occasion and thought it was very good. They also have a spinach & avocado dip appetizer that was decent, although the dip was too thick to my liking (hard to scoop with flimsy nachos). They used old lettuce in my pork belly tacos last night, though. I took a giant bite into my taco and I started tasting something very bitter. I thought it was the cilantro, so I removed it. Turned out it was the lettuce. Yeah, gross. The pork belly itself wasn't that great either. I've had their fish tacos in the best which were much better (and didn't have old lettuce). Was disappointed by that part of the experience, but overall, I tend to have a good time here.

So this is my 3rd review of a Waterloo restaurant. They are surely doing something right in this part of Southern Ontario. Large variety of beers on tap as the business suggests being named "Beertown". The menu is suited for everyone's appetite just like the restaurant itself. Seating to catch the game, seating on a great patio, and seating should you want to have more conversation. An upscale bar without the so called bar food. Beef Brisket poutine with what tasted like homemade beef gravy topped with a delicious aioli was to start but could have easily been a meal on its own. Fish tacos which were light a flaky with a delicious thin batter. Topped with fresh slaw, cilantro, a spicy aioli and accompanied with their house-made hot sauce. An elevated experience surely to make a return visit.

Great gastropub in downtown Waterloo. They have 150 beers on tap! A lot of specialty brews and European selections. The food was good too. Went for a work gathering and ordered several appetizers, including the brisket poutine (excellent). Every dish we had was flavorful. Staying the week here in Waterloo, I've quickly noticed the similarities to U.S. southern fare in what we have all come to know as "comfort food." Everyone is definitely fat and happy here, just like back home. Pro tip: try the local Waterloo IPA, definitely not to be missed!

You might think beer was my primary motivation, and in the beginning it was. Block 3 is a small batch craft brewery that delivers on tasty beer. They generally have ten to twelve beers on tap ranging from lagers, ales, sours and sometimes a stout. They are all delicious in their own right although drinking barrel aged fruited sours is an acquired taste in my book, but trust me try them and you may learn to love them. But why else should you go? There is limited food (it's a brewery not a restaurant), no TV's to watch the game, a steady stream of classic rock playing in the background, kids running around and a few dogs to greet you on the way in. To make matters worse the cell reception is awful, my wife always had a hard time reaching me. Hmm, maybe that's not all bad... What kind of place is this, anyway? It's a modern twist on an old fashioned FAMILY oriented brewery, that's what! There are plenty of board games to play, the local regulars are always happy to share some stories, and the staff are the coolest people around. They have a great Mug Club and if you are lucky you get your own hand-thrown pottery mug with your name on it! Very cool... As I mentioned in one of my check-ins, Block 3 is a benchmark craft brewery experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough,

What made it more odd is that half is an Indian food restaurant and the other half seems to be what is left from a country themed bar. This place thoroughly had me boggled in terms of its vibe. Fajitas, pastas, burgers and a selection of Indian foods. Had the samosas, they were good and freshly cooked. Fajitas (chicken)- lots of veggies, not much meat- no cheese- weird. Half rack ribs- came out piping hot and tender- not bad at all for the price and side of fresh grilled peppers was decent. Caesar- meh. Server and kitchen weren't really prepared for our group even though booked quite awhile ago- think there was only one chef and one server. Took 40 min to get food out, no drink refills offered. Waitress refused to change an order- though it was not sent to the kitchen yet. TBH I was worried that this place might give me food poisoning- it just has this weird ick feeling. I made it out fine- so did my family but some in our party didn't feel too great later- blue cheese dressing maybe be the culprit or the wings- but likely the dressing. Would not go back purely for the poor service and vibe. The food was okay, I've had worse but hard no on the ambiance.

It is in a conveiniet location just off Highway 8, making it a convenient stop if you are travelling. The space was formerly occupied by Milton's Restaurant, which closed after being boycotted by customers due to accommodating a service dog. Arriving for lunch, we were surprised to be the only customers in the large space. Apparently, business has yet to pick up following the demise of Milton's The friendly staff greeted us with smiles and took our order right away. The drinks arrived promptly. The Mango Lassi-Style shake was refreshing, nicely displayed, and had a vibrant Mango taste The Special Dessert Shake was outatanding: thick, sweet but not cloying; and topped with Pistachios. The shake had a delicate pistachio flavour and hints of vailla. The club sandwich was tasty, nicely seasoned and substabtial; no paper thing deli sliced chicken here, but rather a large, juicy chicken breast. While somewhat untraditional, my husband pronounced it delicious and flavorful. My daughter and I opted to share a pepperoni pizza, and it was terrific! Perfect balance of sauce and toppings: molter, stretchy cheese, and a beautiful crust thet was simultaneously crisp, airy and very flavorful. I am extremely picky about pizza crust, finding the vast majority of crusts to be a bland, flavorless staging area for toppings. The pepperoni also stood out. None of those greasy slices which lie on your pizza like flattened, somewhat edible poker chips. Rather, these slices curled up to form little cup like rounds, with a nice porky flavor and delicately crisp edges. When we complimented on the food, the attentive waitstaff summoned the chef to come out to meet us, I was thrilled to talk about crust, food and the restaurant with him. I really hope that this restaurant does well. I did not review the decor (my main thing is the food), but the decor is dated. Something as simple as a new paint job would make the space feel airy and envigorated, and signal new management and a break from the past. The Three Idiots deserves to succeed. If you are in Kitchener, or on your way to another destination, give the Three.Idiots a try.
