I don't like this place for the reasons other people do. I mean, we all love beer. Well, maybe not everyone...cause I just read an article about how millennials aren't drinking beer anymore (get off my lawwwwwwwn!). But, Seattle in general seems to have good taste in it. Well, again, not those that drink Pabst or Rainer. That's horrible beers no matter where its made. Anyways, a reason people seem like this place because its dog/kid friendly. Dogs should stay at home, and not be around food/drank. Don't get me wrong. I own two dogs. I just don't like to burden society with my decisions. You see those animals who tote their dogs around in grocery stores in dog beds in the grocery carts? Fuck is that all about?! People gotta use those carts after. Even with the sanitary wipes, most of us don't know to wipe down the spot that the dog's asshole has been rubbing on for 45 minutes while Gam Gam is picking up her Ensure. All the same can go for your kids. Leave them at home people. Its why God created the 40 ounce, uh, I mean growler! For you adults...I'm not advocating liquoring up your kids. With that said, despite my aforementioned hatred, I love this place. Like Drunky's (refer to past reviews), I've been watching this place get renovated for the past few months. I'm fairly sure it was an old porno/peep shop. I wonder if they were able to scrub all the demons off the walls? The space is open with tables at the front, a bar that runs the length of shop, and coolers to the left. Plenty of seating. Unlike the first time I visited, they are now attached to Lil Woody's, and a Chinese Take Out spot. No, I literally think its called, "Chinese Take Out." Never had either, but its kind of cool that you can just walk right over, and grab food from either spot after a few pints. I'm all about efficiency folks. There's also a deck out back with 5 covered picnic tables. They even have dog dishes full of water left out (aww). There are 40 plus beers on tap, and they also offer wine, and coffee from Moonshot, a new coffee shop down the street. A majority of these beers are local, or at least from Washington, and Oregon. The beer menu on the tvs show prices, description, keg level (pretty cool), and are listed from light to dark. You can purchase snacks like chips, meats, cheeses, as there is no food service. However, besides the two adjacent restaurants, it seems like they don't care if you bring in your own food. They offer take out from Drunky's, and another spot as well. The vibe is relaxed, and kid, and dog friendly. The bartenders are always nice, prompt, and will give you a taste if you're undecided. I kid about your kids, and dogs, but the place isn't a Mcdonald's play land. Most of the kids are kept in check, and its not loud at all. I started this review before I went to Beer Star for the third time. As I sat, and had two fine IPAs, I thought I might have been a little mean spirited in my opening paragraph. As the alcohol started to permeate my blood, I thought of changing it. I almost had an epiphany. Then I though, F that mess, I have a point to make, and its funny! I'm here to inform, but more importantly entertain. I can't recommend this place more, and its a great addition to the rebranding of White Center's main strip. Salute people! read more

Beer Star is fantastic. For beer. For hanging out. For families. For lots of scenarios really. They have beer, wine, kombucha, and cold brew coffee on tap. And the beer selection is top notch. They even had some of my favorite Denver breweries on tap. (oh, hey Crooked Stave!) They have several options for food. You have to order it separately, but it's nice to have the options. While we were there (midday on a weekend) tons of families came in and there was even a kid's birthday party so it's definitely friendly to the littles. It seems like there is ample space and with the self-serve vibe the wait times were pretty minimal. If I lived in the neighborhood I could definitely see myself being a regular here! read more

I loved the atmosphere and I had a great time catching up with friends. I just wanna preface what I'm about to say by saying I am PRO vaccine... While I was there I felt a little singled out, I was told I would have to leave if I wasn't vaccinated (which is fine) but my friends who I was there with ordered several drinks and nobody asked or wanted to see their vaccine card... I also didn't see any new parties get asked to show that proof either, yet I was stamped and nobody even looked. Maybe check at the door? My wife and I felt like because we didn't look like we belonged in the area (Military/blue collar) is why we were asked and it left a sour taste in our mouth. A must visit bar for any beer lovers out there, the selection is amazing, with plenty of spaces to hang out. Such a great place to come and try out a new beer and hang out with friends. Beer Star has a huge selection of beer and cider on tap at all time, almost 50, and a long case of bottle beers and a selection of wines as well. Depending on the beer on tap, you can get a pitcher, a pint or sometimes only a schooner of it. Also you can do a flight with each beer costing around 2 bucks for a tasting some more some less. Most of the beer they have I never tried before and the beer on tap do rotate. Last time I tried a beer made with ancho chilies, choconibs, vanilla bean and cinnamon. Not my favorate beer every, but it was worth the try. We got a seat on the deck. I LOVE THE DECK!!!! And, my little angel loved it too. This place rocks on a warm summer evening. I will visit ebery chance I get. Abby loved visiting with all the other felines. It's very nice that they allow you to bring food in to enjoy with your beer. This place is awesome but we had an uncomfortable experience that made me leave fast. Usually we grab a burger at lil woody's and a brew at Beer Star. Today we were super hungry so we grabbed food first, and it came out super quick. While we were eating a woman cane up to us to remind us that they are separate businesses and since we were sitting on the beer star we should be having a beer, which was our intention as the two go hand in hand quite well. And a completely understandable concept. But I felt the exchange was awkward and uncomfortable so we left without the beer. If you are separate businesses, that's great, maybe put up a sign reminding occupants that you are separate businesses. Instead the exchange felt awkward and we left. We will be back for sure, just felt weird. read more

I do like this place for what it is - a beer bar with TV's. I also like that you can bring food in. There is a burger bar and pizza place both attached to it which makes it easy to order and bring your food over to the beer star side and hang or watch tv. A large bar, a good amount of seating tables, but also plenty of standing tables. The service was meh even when it didn't seem busy, but they are only serving beer so ? Went a couple of times cause it was convenient to where I was staying. read more

It large a spacious, and you can bring over food from the two neighboring food places (burgers and "Chinese"). Some people have complained about the customer service but you get everything from a counter and that's pretty hard to mess up. What I like about this place is that they have an enormous selection of beer, they have snacks like crackers and cheese for sale, and a burger place and pizza place right in the same venue. This way you can get great beer and junk food to accompany your beer. Seats are plentiful and comfortable and there is a nice outdoor space as well. Hard not to like this place. read more

Awesome place! With the variety of beers, ciders, wines, snacks, (the list goes on) you can really stay here hours on end! First off, I'm all about breweries/ non-food establishments allowing dogs and being family friendly. Beer Star is defo one of those establishments! We came a bit late, 9:30ish, and interestingly enough, it was a bit empty. Lily's Woody's is right next door, so food is taken care of - but they were closed by the time we got there.. Beer Star is a big place and along that comes awesome staff! They are quite knowledgeable able the 50+ beers on tap and able to answer a lot of questions if you are in store to buy bottles. I can see parking being a problem during busy times, but besides that Beer Star has easily been placed on my list of "Places I can Enjoy Myself Along with Family" I can't wait to bring more friends here to hang out! read more

I love this fun neighborhood hang out in White Center. Beer Star shares an open venue with Lil Woody's Burgers and South Side Pizza. It's a casual, relaxed environment and kids and dogs are welcomed. The tap selection at beer star is great. They feature a lot of local breweries and cideries and are always happy to let you test things out. They also have a refrigerated section that has lot of unique bottles if you want to take them home and they do growler fills as well. I love that you can bring in food from their partner restaurants right next door. There are also plenty of televisions scattered around and board games to share. There really is something for everybody at this location. read more

Love that it is dog friendly inside and out! They had 48 different drafts, plus bottles and cans to buy to take home or drink there I guess. They had snacks like chips, crackers, cheeses, to buy if you didn't want to order a proper meal from the neighborhood restaurants. The staff were super nice and helpful. They had covid protocols in place with a large patio (mostly covered - in process of being finished) and more tables below in the lot below. We were able to find parking super close on a side street. I loved that they had compost and recycling inside to sort you trash/recyclables. We will be back for sure and this place will be nice next winter when things are little more safe to be inside (at least for us). read more

Pets are allowed. Tons of beers selections! The most I've ever seen. There are two restaurants also. I guess the Chinese restaurant is no longer here. Now it's theres a burger and pizza restaurant. Hoppin' little taproom in White Center on the main strip. Lots of beer options with a few wines on tap, too. Pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, and even more so during summer when the weather is nice so you can sit on the patio. Dogs are welcome, which is always a plus for us. There's plenty of children's games to keep the little ones occupied and there's a pizza and burger place connected next door for easy snacks while you're beering with your friends. They also allow you to bring in outside food so if you want the Mexican from the taco truck across the road, the BBQ, or really anything else, have at it. There are a few snacks they sell at the front, too. Would recommend to anyone looking for something to do in what's becoming less of a sleepy little area over in West Seattle. read more

So, first let me say that I am glad this business is here. It's a great concept, a nice place and we appreciate the investment they've made in White Center. This review is for the poor communication and customer service we encountered on our visit today. We stopped by around 2:30 on a Friday to grab lunch at Lil Woody's. Because the music was quite loud in the seating area at Lil Woody's, we took our food over to Beer Star (which does not sell food and allows the two restaurants sharing the space to provide food for its customers). After we were about halfway through our meal, the bartender asked what we would like to order. When we told him we were just grabbing a quick bite, he told us we couldn't eat our lunch there unless we bought something. Mind you, the place was almost empty. Not wanting a drink, we picked up our food and returned to Lil Woody's. While we can certainly understand that these are separate businesses, there is no signage indicating this policy, either in Beer Star or near the wide open entry between the two spaces. Furthermore, the bartender was abrupt and a little rude, treating us more like children than the fifty something professional women we are. What could have happened would have been a polite explanation of the rule and an acknowledgment that since they weren't busy, we could have stayed and finished this time. We would have walked away knowing the policy for our next visit. We were planning to look at the wine selection after our lunch and may have picked up a bottle or two to take home. Instead, we left empty handed and will likely look for other lunch options in the immediate future. With so many great choices in the area, poor customer service is not the way to shine. read more

As a tap house fan, I find this one of the most approachable and customer centric ones around. I have been to all of them In the Seattle area, and the Beer Star staff are the nicest most sincere beer tenders I have seen. I have been going on Sunday afternoons and they learned my name in literally 2 visits. There have been a lot more visits since and they do their best to learn your styles. They always make a point of saying hi to every new face they see and make people feel welcome. I'm picky and I honestly can't think of a single negative about the staff. The atmosphere is pretty cool and the patrons are always happy and enjoying themselves. I honestly think the staff are setting the tone and making it a happy environment for everyone. It is pet friendly and the dog crowd is very polite and social. The building is really cool and I like the size and decor of the room. I'm not sure if there was a professional involved in the design but it works great. There is an area that people with their kids like to gravitate to, there is an area where most of the people with dogs gravitate to, and there is a bar area where the rest hang out. The beer selection is good and they have a lot of bottled beers to pick from. I would say that they have a smaller selection of bottles than the other shops but the rest of the aspects of the place make up for it. I have checked in Over 450 unique beers in my app and I always have something new to try on draft. You can bring food in and I think that is a big deal based on the location. This is White Center and there are a bunch of great places around that you can get take out. Taco Truck, Bok a Bok Chicken, Two Shoes BBQ, Popeyes chicken, a burger place and Chinese take out are connected. read more

With a few of each style on tap instead of just one which is great when you want to try a few! Also in bottle they have a huge selection! A variety of seating areas. Don't let the word 'growler' or 'beer' create any preconceived thoughts of Beer Star. - They offer much more than beer including wine and cider; also cheeses, crackers and meats to pair. - It's family friendly (kids galore, actually) with a play area and several dogs chilling about on the floor - There are fridges of alcoholic beverages to grab and go if you're on the run or don't have a growler with you; There's also the option to buy a growler to take home The space and particularly the wooden bar is expansive and good for groups. For sunny days, they also have a decent sized back porch to take in some rays with a brew or two. After all, the space must be large with roughly FIFTY TAPS to choose from. You name it: Ales, IPAs, Porters, Lagers, Kombucha, Cold Brew and beyond. They mainly represent local, West Coast products, but the refridgerators have a larger international selection. Large space. Love that you can bring in your own food. Back deck looks like it's still being worked on but there are a few tables out there. And since it is new, it is pretty clean inside. This was my first time here and while I was looking at the menu, the woman at the counter explained how the menu worked. It was pretty empty when I showed up there on a Thursday evening around 6ish. A decent flow of people came in after us. I'd go back to try more beers Also, there's a beer fridge stocked so you can take a bottle home if you find something. read more

Stopped by the other night to check out this new spot - feels a lot like Chuck's, but a little more upscale? Offering a big tap list and the bartender was happy to provide some insight or tasters to help with your decision, which is always appreciated. Fancy snacks and bottles for sale too, though we didn't partake in either of those this trip. The space is large and sleek inside with lots of wood, would be a great place to hang out and play some games with friends over a few pints. There's also an outdoor patio with umbrellas which looked really nice that we'll probably opt for on a warmer evening. Family & dog-friendly, which I am always happy to see. So happy they've reopened during COVID. Plenty of space indoors to feel safe, plus they allow dogs and kids. Great outdoor space as well. The owner is wonderful and the staff is so friendly. Love this place. So many beers to choose from. Bar/beer tender is super friendly and gave us a few suggestions. It's very casual. You can bring food in from the pizza joint next door or any restaurant in the hood. That's the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star. The amount and types of beer on tap is mind boggling. Then you have all of the variety of bottles of beer. For someone who likes good craft beer, or sampling different kinds available nowhere else, this is the place for you. There's some wine available, as well. The have some large screen tv's as well, so it seems one can watch games here. The don't have their own kitchen, but they cleverly coolant collab with other restaurants in white center to allow deliveries, so you can eat from a variety of options. Great new addition to the White Center neighborhood. Stopped in yesterday to fill up a growler and got to taste two beers before deciding on what to fill and then asked for a 3rd sample after I'd made my pick and they were kind enough to allow me to try another one. I know it's generally standard practice to allow multiple tastings most places, but it's still a nice gesture. I think there were 12 cooler doors stocked with bottles and cans (didn't have time to browse them all on this first visit), and then 45 different options on draft! Mostly beers, but a couple of wines and n/a options, then a smaller list of half a dozen or so ciders as well. Great open space with some outside seating on a back deck and a play area of sorts for those trucking little ones around, but as another person mentioned here, the play area is far enough away from most of the rest of the seating that you don't feel like you're in a daycare if you don't want to be. :) Only thing I'd like to see more of is food/snack options, but you are able to bring in any outside food as well. read more
