Beer lab is always on our to-do list multiple times during our trips to Hawaii. Love the variety of beers on every trip. You're going to find something you didn't have before. We ordered the garlic edamame to start with, which was very good, and then we finished up with the smoked meats and the smoked Marlin dip with toast tips. We visited four breweries during our time on Oahu. Each were fantastic and got better each time. We started at Maui Brewing, moved onto Waikiki Brewing, Beer Lab Hi, and finished at Howzit Brewing. Was sure I had a review for here, no see it now. I like this location since this is where they brew the beer and only $5 at time of this writing. They also have great pupus, wine selection, whiskeys and bourbons. Like the beer garden, which gives it nice ambience. Parking can be a bit tough but we make do. This time went for 10th anniversary and they were serving 10 ounce logger for 10 cents... not bad. read more

Discovered this place the other day after knowing they had a location in Puck's Alley but not being aware of their Beretania spot which is a adorned with stunning graffiti along the walls. Having a nice backyard beer garden in an otherwise drive-through neighborhood is a pleasant surprise. This area has some great gems when it comes to food, but I'm happy that there is such an inviting space that I can go and sit with a group of friends outdoors with a cold beer and just catch up. I almost feel like feel like I'm being transported elsewhere. I love that they have a dynamic menu and if something tickles your fancy, you can likely take home the bottle six pack. I did didn't get to try the food, but it looked like a small selection yet varied enough to complement your after work beer. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and gives you a great breakdown as you figure out what you'd like to try next. I had taste of their dragon fruit beer and li hing seltzer. There is cornhole which is always fun with a group of friends. The biggest downside about this location is probably the parking. There are about four spots in the front, but it did not feel like I could park there. I did park in the Times supermarket and rolled in some grocery shopping, but I was worried how much grace period I may have. If you're lucky street parking is also available. read more

Civil Beat had an event here on Friday evening so I had to check this place out. For those of you who haven't been here yet it's located on the Mauka side of S Beretania Street between Keeaumoku Street and Piikoi, next to Grace's Inn and Time's Supermarket. As you walk towards the venue you'll see metal vats on your left (is that's what they're called?) picnic tables and the counter where all the food & drink is located. I checked in with the lovely ladies at the reception table (Civil Beat staff & reporters) and went to the counter to order a Mililani Red. Some folks brought pupu for us to munch on while we enjoyed our beverages (they have an amazing choice of brews that are sold in various sizes so you can sample before you buy a bigger size) and made friends. Next time I go I will try their poke bowls and some of their other beverage offerings. Love this place and the folks who make it happen. read more

Brewtastic location... Really wished I could've stayed longer but I really came here to pick up the latest brew that I conveniently ordered online for a pick up that would suit the time constraint that I needed. This newest Beer Lab HI location is on Beretania slightly hidden though their super cute logo dude is prominently staring you down wondering why you drove pass them by. Not super sure of the parking situation but I did find a stall right beside them adjacent to Grace's and walked my way in on the gravel path which was quite different and you pass the huge beer tanks and you see the picnic table set ups outside is a bit different from their usual set up in the past as this more informal setting is quite refreshing not quite sure how it would be during the summertime heat. I head to the counter to pick up my order which was already prepaid so it was an easy grab and go situation though I see that they also serve poke bowls it was very late in the afternoon so unfortunately there wasn't much of selection though a cool place the options here are quite limited and can't really see myself relaxing here though a great and convenient place for a pick up which I will be doing more at this location. Located at Pearlridge with ample parking. Clean and spacious. Bench style seating. I think this place is known more for the beer, which we did not have. The burgers with fries were excellent. My burger was thick and I asked for a steak knife to cut it in half. Male brought out a knife, but stayed at our table until I cut my burger. He claimed to need the knife back. That was strange! Serving size was okay. Just okay. Not filling. Ended up going elsewhere to satisfy the hunger. BEER LAB was on my B list of breweries to visit while in Honolulu. So glad I got to spend time here. Hidden gem is an understatement. It is a hidden jewel. Quite hidden in fact. If you are driving here, you may want to park and walk, although there is limited parking. I just really liked the vibe here. Only had one beer here, the Omakase, a hazy IPA 6% ABV. Dank and semi sweet for an IPA. Either I was really thirsty, or this was perfection. I was thirsty, but still... I want t9 figure out a way to get this back in Florida... seriously. They also have food here. The .music is an island vibe. There is plenty of room for groups and they have games. Great spot to visit. Awesome spot the drink great beer. read more

This beerlab is HUGE! Outdoor seating with a game area (Cornhole) and space to run relays. Parking is kinda tricky. I used street parking on the back street and walked through times supermarket parking lot. There is also street parking in front but, check the signs. The food is mainly Poke. Fresh poke and I must say its good. We ordered a poke tray with 4 poke selections and they were all very good. They also have poke bowls. The smoked 'ahi dip paired with the shrimp chips are super good as well. . I only wish they served more substantial food. Something to soak up the alcohol. haha There was no table service when we were there (afternoon) and just one bartender. Later 2 more came on duty and they all were very helpful and friendly. Oh yes, there is beer. Beerlab beer is always great and I especially love trying all the different creations they have. read more

Super chill brewery with awesome workers. My gf and I stopped by since we saw they had a sour on their menu. When we arrived, they didn't have it listed since they swapped out the keg with another beer that morning. BUT the workers were kind enough to switch it back to the sour since another couple we met there also visited for the sour (everybody's somebody's mule). I do wish it was a little more sour and tart though. They also offer poke, which was pretty fresh and one of the better pokes I had while in Honolulu! Had a great time at Beer Lab's Beretania location with my girl gang yesterday. I've been to the other three locations multiple times, but it was my first time here. Cute causal location woth lots of cool colorful murals. As usual for Beer Lab, the service was fast and friendly even though we were a large group (we had about 10-15 ladies walk in within about 30 minutes with another 5 to shortly follow!) Counter services with pours of their beers and a variety of fresh poke. You can also BYOF if you're not a fish fan. I tried the smoked ahi dip and spicy ahi. The spicy ahi was tasty with a nice kick. My friend that had ordered the smoked ahi dip commented that she wanted a little more seasoning. I thought it was similar to other smoked fish dips I had had. You can order the poke with or without rice, and there are a variety of additional toppings to choice from. Pinic table seating that's covered or has umbrellas. Definitely wouldn't recommend it if it was raining hard as there's limited space under a roof. Has 2 corn hole games on the side. Best thing?!? Not 1, not 2, but FIVE bathrooms! Woot! Even though there were quite a few ladies there, I never waited in line! And there's 2 common sinks for washing hands. Fun times! Can't wait to go back. I took lots of pics of our group yesterday. Several picnic style tables for customers to sit at Couple of stalls right in front. Difficult to back out of though when beretania gets busy. Beer Lab Hawaii has become a favorite brewery for me. Their beer is great quality no matter the style, and they love to experiment. This is for their new fourth location on Beretania. The entrance is nearby Wong's Drapery and Grace's Inn on the mauka side of the street; parking is right in the lot in front or there are bus stops nearby. This is going to be a production brewery, which you can see with large brewing tanks right at the entrance. It's all outdoors but has already done a great job in keeping you comfortable. The tables are the picnic table variety, large for anything from an individual to a large group. All tables are under an awning, so even on hot sunny afternoons, you're in the shade. Water cooler is right inside and free to keep you hydrated. Restrooms are shared to the right, with stalls for urinals and toilets and shared sinks inside the door; they're really well thought out for even busy nights to keep people waiting less. To the left is the food counter, which is currently making all in-house fresh ahi poke! Get it in containers of various sizes or poke bowls over rice - prices range from $7-$16 depending on what you get. They also have snacks. The main attraction is the beer counter which has 16 draft lines, plus a refrigerator with canned beer ready to-go. They will also fill 32oz crowlers on demand, so you can take your favorite limited drafts home or to the beach. Prices are on par with their other locations - essentially you'll pay more for beers with more expensive ingredients or higher alcohol. Order flight size if you want to try a little of many different beers. All the staff here is as friendly and welcoming as their other locations as well, with many having moved over. If you're a beer fan, local or visiting, this is already a standout location beer garden. It's worth the visit! read more

Walked 20 mins and arrived just before noon on a Sunday hoping for some poke and beer. Sadly nobody was at the bar and the poke cooler looked depressingly empty so we just left immediately. Ambiance was okey for an indie brewery but the neighborhood is a bit grungy with little else around for food or drink as a plan B so we got a ride share back to an area with restaurants. read more

Always have interesting yummy beers on tap. You can buy a flight or get a little taste before you order. For those that don't drink, their sodas are so refreshing. They come with that giant cube of ice that usually is only found in fancy cocktails. You can even specify how sweet you want the soda because they mix it there. I get half syrup. The Lilikoi soda is my fave. So refreshing. They even have good food! (And not just that regular greasy stuff you find at other places) Beer and poke or tofu. The spicy one is pretty spicy. The salt poke had a bit too much salt. The fish itself was fresh and my wife always gets a poke bowl here with all the toppings. I also bring my dog on leash in the middle of the day when it's not that busy. They have dog adoption events on certain weekends, so you know they have a good heart. All bathrooms are stalls. All gender neutral. Plenty of parking at the lot where Times is next door. We bring all our guests here. read more

So I was here during a whirlwind self-guided tour last month of as many breweries in the area as I could hit in one afternoon - I'm sure by now 100% of the specific beer I tried last month have rotated out, as it seems like that sort of place. But based on the selection when I was there, I'm pretty confident in saying that they are my sort of brewery, in that they likely always have a wide range, not just of styles, but of particularly *interesting* styles. At the specific time I was there, that included a pretty solid quad ale (with a particularly cute name, "Geek's Quad"), a pretty solid porter, a pretty solid POG ale, a great li hing seltzer that was way more flavorful than typical for hard seltzers, and an absolutely wonderful and particularly interesting "thiolized" golden ale (you can tell it's my sort of accurately-named "beer lab", when one of the beers makes me Google a word; apparently thiols are "highly impactful aromatic compounds", and "thiolized" beer has been run through special yeast that converts malt to thiols in a notably more than typical amount, not that that particular beer is probably still there, a month later.) You can get all their beer individually in either 4, or 12 oz pours - 4 oz pours, as of when I was there, ranged from $2.50-4. All their seating is outdoors - but much of it is tented properly in case of rain. (It was actually drizzling slightly part of the time I was there.) It does seem like it'd get pretty warm on hot days, though. They do also serve great poke as well - I wasn't actually that hungry when I was here, but I had to try their poke anyway, when I saw they had appetizer portions of just poke for $7. Though future reference, while their ahi is seriously good, super fresh-tasting ahi... I got the "OG", cause it's well, the OG. if I were back, next time I'd definitely get the spicy version - the OG is just fish, onion, and in my personal opinion, way more salt than I felt like eating. Great ahi, though, and a decent amount for $7 - not enough for a meal, but enough for a great snack to go with your beer tasting. read more

Went there today, waited in the rain for 15 minutes after 2 p.m. They never opened although their hours on the chain gate showed 2 p.m. Your company and failure to open on time makes your company and products complete garbage. I read an article about a local craft brewery serving fresh poke - an awesome combination I had to try and I'm glad I did. The selection of beer is extensive and creative from a light rice lager to an ube hoppy IPA (my choice). Next to the beer tap is the poke section where like the selection of beer, the selection of poke is extensive, but unlike the mainland where there are many (questionable) options, Beer Lab keeps it relatively simple - the biggest choice is the rice, regular white or sushi - choose the sushi rice. I ordered the OG (original) poke with the sushi rice. Kept it simple and paired with the IPA, oh boy, it was ono! Everything is in an outdoor setting - picnic tables with overhead covering; I saw cornhole on the side, ready to be set up for play. In addition to the great selection of tasty beer, fresh awesome ahi poke, there are items you can purchase to take home such as t-shirts, dog toys, etc. to remember your visit. There are a few Beer Labs on island (Pearlridge, Waipio, University, Beretania) so you have a selection of places to visit. I have three other Labs to visit. read more

I always walked past this place every time I was at pearl ridge and always saw it was packed but never had the chance to try it out. My girlfriend and I finally had to opportunity to go, we simply just walked in on a Friday evening for dinner and we didn't need a reservation, we got seated pretty quickly due to their amazing service. What we got: - (9/10) Kiwing me softly: this was an imperial sour with golden kiwi and it was amazing. The flavor was great and it tasted like juice despite it having an ABV of 7.7%. Would definitely get it again. - (10/10) Omelet: the omelet was simply amazing and I loved everything about it, it had kimchee fried rice under the blanket of soft eggs and the sauce for the omelet was perfect, with a good balance of savory, sweet and tart. - (8/10) Katsu with cheese: it was really good and the flavor and crunch of the katsu was really good but for some pieces the cheese was really overpowering. Honestly, their beer is weird. I've tried beer made with lihing mui, pandan, taro, etc--it sounds cool, but it tastes weird. "Wow, you can really taste the peanut butter" isn't something i expected to say while drinking beer. That said, i guess that's what makes them unique. Most places focus on making their beer taste good or keeping it affordable, but Beer Lab seems to focus on making their beer weird. I don't love their beer, but I don't hate it. I've been here several times and have good memories. Their beer is weird, but I'll be back for sure. read more

A couple-friends moved away recently--she, the queen of poke sent an article from Honolulu Mag about Beer Lab's new beer and poke garden. We HAD to go and pre-check it out. We were not disappointed. The poke is so so fresh and amazing! The flavors of beer , and the staff too-- personable, knowledgeable and helpful. Food, service, ambience, all top-notch. Now I know this is a little weird, but I have to tell you about the bathrooms. They are epic! Each stall is a private room - - no peeking under or over the door the door, nor between the cracks. Each door has its designator - - one has a urinal, the rest all have toilets including one large family/wheelchair "stall". This is bathroom equity at its best! read more

Self serve counter for beer and an extensive Poke' selection. Location is outdoors but it is Hawaii with good weather. Music was low and so were the conversations. Ordered three different Poke', all arrived quickly and all were very tasty. Crew was attentive to backed up people waiting to order while people were tasting, every time that occurred, another employee would quickly assist at the counter to keep things moving. read more
