I love this place. Mostly for just the beer and the pretty waitresses.. A shit-ton of college wannabe Bohemian types hang out here just ignore them no go away. Luckily they're that new generation that can't defend themselves especially after they had one beer. But if you can tolerate that kind of shit, then the place is a fantastic place to go good food too truly dig it. I think they still have growler so you can take away and those are incredibly awesome. What a neat brewery! They use mostly stainless steel tanks but I did see some wooden barrels. I went on a Saturday night and they had a live jazz band playing, it was such good vibes. Workers were attentive and friendly. They had cocktails, mocktails, and beers - a good variety for everyone to enjoy. There was a food stand outside for those who wanted to eat. Great vibes all around. I would highly recommend checking them out. Large parking lot - free parking! That's a huge deal here on the island. read more

Honolulu is blessed with many craft breweries - and in my humble opinion, I believe I found my ATF in Hawaii, Honolulu Beerworks. Originally located in Kaka'ako (where other craft breweries are located), Honolulu Beerworks moved to an industrial, converted warehouse in Kalihi. It's beers are worth the drive, for me, it's the Hop Island IPA. It has the crisp, hoppiness (sort of West Coast style) which I seek. In addition to the IPA, there are others, but once I tasted the IPA, I am hooked. Parking is available in front of the establishment, even on the street. When you walk up to the brewery, you will be greeted and made welcome. To the right is a small shop to be able to purchase the usual items (t-shirts, stickers, etc.) and to the left is a counter with chairs, and tables. You can walk to the "back" where you will see the massive tanks where the "nectar of Gods" are brewed - to the right are bourbon casks filled with beer to impart further flavor. There are some snacks available, but you are there for beer so enjoy them. Purchase of sixpacks are available for takeout, and they are available in stores throughout the island. I'm in bliss finding the Hop Island IPA from Honolulu Beerworks - I did not imbibe the other offerings and may in the future, but in the meanwhile, the Hop Island IPA will be my choice of beer. read more

Celebrated a birthday here on a Friday night. I inquired through their website and exchanged email messages with their Assistant Manager. They didn't require a downpayment and everyone had their own tabs open. We had one server throughout the night named Justin. He was awesome and despite having almost 30-35 people, he was able to serve us quickly and efficiently. We were also able to bring a cake for the birthday boy. The corn holes on the Mauka Beer Garden was also nice. The string lights also gave a nice vibe to the night. The only bad thing was the smell of the fermenting beer beside us. It wasn't too bad but if you're sitting right by the brewery area, you will notice it. The cocktail drinks, beer availability, service, and venue was overall great. This was my first time here. It's got a relaxed, t-shirt & slippers, vibe. Our group was a party of 20. We sat outside at the picnic tables (3 of them) with table umbrellas. It was pretty humid out, but our server was quick with the cold drinks. I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage. It was a white tea with a medicine like flavor that was intolerable. I let the server know and he took it off my bill. I then ordered a diet Coke and a salad. I was looking forward to the beet salad that I saw on their website menu. It didn't look like the photo I saw online. It was a bit disappointing, but the flavor was good nonetheless. Four stars because our server was so on it. He was the only one assigned to our party and he made sure to keep checking on us. It's so important these days to have good help. Our friends invited us here as his friends were playing just this past Friday. It was rainy day that day, and we didn't the side street parking to be full. It took us a bit of time to find parking, which is why I only gave 4 stars. I like the vibe here. It's an open air indoor space, but they also had outside space too. It can get really loud inside. There are also boardgames available. They had battleship, connect four and guess who. I feel like you can bring your own, just make sure you don't forget to bring it home. The servers were really nice, we were taken care of right away. They told us to scan the QR code for the menu. As soon as I saw the mac and cheese, I knew I had to get it. But since we were waiting for our friends still, we started with the garlic parm pretzels! Those were so delicious, it came with a mustard sauce. I personally didn't like the sauce as it was overpowering. Few minutes later our friends arrived and we ordered: * Chicken Mac and Cheese -- it tasted okay, but the macaroni was tasteless, it was bland. All I could taste was the breadcrumbs which added crunch to the dish. * Beef Dip -- they were pretty generous with the beef, but the portion for its price was definitely not with it. And I wish the cheese was melted which could've elevated the flavour. The beer is also delicious, with a wide variety of signatures and seasonal specials--my favorite is the kewalos cream ale. It's usually pretty lively in there, offering trivia, live music, cornhole. Fab craft beers and plant based food! Oh hells yes! I got this fab taster flight of some amazing beer. Of course, any beer called Pussy Grabs Back, and I am way too curious not to give it a try. Plus I love me a Rye IPA and this did not disappoint. All my tastes were good. I also had the edamame hummus and ohemgee I am in love and this is utterly Hawaii's gift to plant based eaters (mahalo). My companion had the deconstructed gyro and it was very tasty. My other companion had the chicken mac and it was super good. The location is very trendy, with two carve outs on each side for variable outdoor seating. The vibe is very local and communal. There is cool art and surfing on the tv. There is plenty of great merch. We all left with some and in essence our bill doubled buhahaha. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. Overall a fabulous evening. Took in a quick dinner before the Bonnie Raitt Concert at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. They were already fairly busy for a Tuesday evening at 6:30. The venue: Nice place, plenty of bar seating and table seating, outdoor area and staff that are attentive and keep an eye on you. Parking is pretty much only street parking but we usually find a spot. The beer: Very good selection of beer, some rotating and some small batch stuff. Quality is typically very good but we've noticed some core beers aren't always consistent in abv or taste (confirmed with a bartender) when we visit every other year. The prices: HH pricing makes the beer much more affordable and allows us to 'splurge' and get one or two of the more premium or small batch beers without breaking the wallet. HH prices on food is 25% off 'munchies' but our last experience with a pizza was not great. Pizza was tiny and even after HH price $12+ was still too much for that small pizza. My fiancé and I did a little brew tour when we visited Honolulu for our first time and we really enjoyed our experience. They have a lot of seating indoors and a really cute outdoor alley to sit in as well. We chose to sit outdoors at night with the twinkle lights! Happy ten year anniversary to Honolulu Beerworks and cheers to being the OG Kakaako brewery! Their local beers, service, and merch have always been great. This is an amazing spot for groups as they do trivia every Tuesday at 7pm and have live music every Saturday from 6:30pm-9pm. Their industrial open air space also has a fun corn hole setup outside on the right when you enter.
