Came here around 7pm for a nightcap and really enjoyed the vibe. Bottleheads is a small, cozy wine bar with a laid back atmosphere, perfect for a chill night. Seating is limited, which adds to the intimate feel. When we arrived, only about four tables were occupied, so we were seated right away. We chose to sit outside, but indoor seating was also available. Parking was easier than expected. There is plenty of street parking out front, along with a lot behind the building. Both are metered, but when we went the meters in the back lot were out of order, so we lucked out. They offer wine by the glass with 2 oz and 6 oz pours, or you can grab a full bottle. We went with four 2 oz pours so we could try a few different options, which was a great way to mix it up without committing to one bottle. We also ordered the beet salad for $14, which was super fresh and well balanced. The light vinaigrette did not overpower anything and really let the beets, mixed greens, and feta shine. Simple, but done right. The staff mentioned they host wine tasting events on Wednesdays, which definitely sounds worth checking out next time. Overall, prices felt reasonable and the atmosphere was on point. It is a great spot for a relaxed night or casual date. The only downside is the bathroom situation. It is a shared restroom outside of the space, and when we went it was not in great condition. It was not well stocked and pretty messy. Not really the bar's fault, but something to be aware of. Im not sure what to call this place. Its not a bar and its not a restaurant. However the menu is limited but good. The service to really bad, terrible. There was only one table with people when we walked in and we waited 10 minutes before a server show up at our table. We were setting outside. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server to take our order. After we got our food we never saw the server until I got up from the table to find him. They served us tap water in a bottel, it was not filtered water, it didn't taste good. So that was a problem because I like to drink a lot of water if I'm going to have a cocktail. That brings us to the cocktails they have here. The cocktail drinks are limited also. I like a good bourbon not whitskey. The server went into a long explanation why they don't have bourbon at there bar, resturant, whatever this place is. This place needs a lot of work on their hospitality. read more

No Worries! Not the response you want from your server when they forgot to put in your food order. I mean it would have been nice to have the charcuterie with the wine we ordered. We heard the wait for food was usually long here so we just enjoyed the wine and waited. But as it was now 20 minutes before they closed we asked and he said oh I forgot. No worries though I won't charge you for it um ok can we get the bill. And he handed us the tablet to pay. Standing over us as we left tip. I love supporting small businesses but making it so challenging. And seeing we are not the only ones based on reviews is frustrating. Hopefully something changes one way or the other. This place is so cute! Love the intimate feel you get when dinning there. It like a little local hot that is fun to meet with friends, has amazing food and they even have bands come play! Service was wonderful, treated like a friend/family. You are able to grab your own beer from the fridge and they will bring you a glass. The food was amazing, so full of flavor! The caviar deviled eggs were out of this world. I think I could have had 8 or more. The shop carries great selections of beers,wine and spirits. The prices were also great. You can even order online and pick it up in an hour, or I believe you can even get it delivered. The first time I came in here - I actually just got a soda (oli pop) to go. More than just a bottle shop, you can stay and drink inside or they have outdoor seating as well. Plus, they're dog friendly!! I recently came in with my group of Pilates pals. My friends picked from their wine list and a few of them got some non-alcoholic ginger beer. I went with their mezcal and ginger and LOVED my drink. Perfect mix of smokey and sweet. For a bottleshop the food here is actually so good! We shared the hummus plate- they get their hummus from ulu mana; 3 different types of hummus made from ulu! Paired with crackers and different types of pickles. Highly highly recommend - perfect for sharing with a group over drinks! I ordered the grilled cheese and added prosciutto! They get their sourdough bread from the bread shop and it's stuffed with sharp cheddar, aged gouda & provolone. It's all about the bread here, perfectly crispy and so good with all that gooey cheese. Wow, I don't even know where to start. I called to reserve a lovely goodbye party for myself for 15 people on Monday 12/8 for Friday 12/12. You guys were my favorite restaurant in Kailua, so it seemed fitting to have my goodbye party there. I called on the 12th to say I was running a bit late, and they seemed to have no idea what I was talking about...They said they had my party "scheduled for saturday the 13th". The actual goodbye dinner was amazing on the 12th and our server was great, funny and let us stay after close. When we arrived, he also apologized for the mix-up on our reservation and said he had updated it to reflect the correct date (the 12th). I left feeling it was a wonderful goodbye party and recommending bottleheads to all my friends staying in Hawaii. Cue today...I'm in the process of moving to EUROPE today Friday 12/19 and received 2 voicemails asking if "my party of 15 was still coming for my party tonight, the 19th." I didn't receive the voicemail because, (again), I was on a flight and received an incredibly rude voicemail saying I could have "bothered calling them back that I couldn't make it tonight and sarcastically commenting on what a "courteous person I was". I called him back after landing FROM A 12 HOUR FLIGHT and he proceeded to berate me for "not bothering to return a phone call to let them know I wasn't coming". I said that the restaurant had messed up the reservation for the third time, I'd already had my goodbye party a week ago, and that I was on a flight all day to Europe. He proceeded to keep repeating that "It was really rude of me to not call them back". Um-(Since, repeating this over and over on the phone apparently made no difference)-YOU the restaurant messed up my reservation THREE TIMES. We literally already HAD the party that you thought was scheduled for today? I'm truly appalled at the experience I had with whoever was on the phone, especially after spending quite a bit of money at my goodbye party and having a lovely time. VIBEY PARADISE in PARADISE. The vibe of this place stopped me in my TRACKS! I was walking to another restaurant to meet my lady when I came up on BOTTLEHEADS patio. Chill music. Dim lighting. Ladies enjoying glasses of wine and bites. I go in check it out, tell dude man we will come back next time we are in town. I walked out, took ten steps and turned around. The time is NOW. I texted my lady to meet me there. I had a delightful bottle of German Pilsner while I waited- the beers and wine are finely curated. The food list is short and sweet. Perfect for noshies. My lady said the deviled eggs w caviar were the best she ever had- we had to order another round. The grilled cheese was crispy gooey sourdough goodness. Im telling you this spot is a VIBE. I Shazammed five songs in the first hour! By now we've started chatting with Nate, the very accommodating and interesting sommelier- ended up in a full on amazing conversation with him and a table of lovely ladies who meet there every week. If you are coming for a quick bite, make sure you have a lot of time to spare. Came here to try the grilled cheese sandwich I'd heard about and I want to say the grilled cheese was amazing! It came out quickly, the cheese was warm but not too hot. The bread was crunchy and delicious. I was served by a nice gentleman who made a great recommendation for wine to pair with the sandwich. For drinks, there are many options to choose from. They have a large variety of spirits, beers, and wines. The location is great with a lot of parking available in the square located in between the buildings. The reason for the three stars is because of the responsiveness of the staff. Although the grilled cheese and wine were amazing, they couldn't make up for the wait. Long story short, there were two people working, but one was not providing any assistance, but rather spent the whole time on their phone. While I was waiting to have my order taken, I saw a small family leave after only drinks, and later while walking home I saw them eating food somewhere else. There was a person sitting next to me who asked for her check and didn't receive it for around 8 minutes. The gentleman who served me was doing the best he could, but I could tell he had his hands full. A very cozy tasting room with a really great ambiance and outstanding service! Consistent friendly service, ambience is ok, inside you hear everyone's conversations, as there is no music, except the tv sometimes. A/C is cranked on high so it's a bit chilly. I think outside seating is better. My go to is the hummus plate which is so delicious! Drink is FeverTree tonic which is also one of my favorite drinks. A big gripe for my husband is that they have a "corkage" fee for a bottle of beer. This is absurd! Also, the restrooms are in the complex 3 flights upstairs which is an inconvenience. Buyer beware! I suffered the biggest rip off from a place that I can remember. I went in to look around and saw they had a four pack of Hana Koa, which I like and since I want to support local businesses and products, I bought it. I got charged over $25 for the four pack. It seemed expensive but decided to go ahead with the purchase. When I got home I checked the pricing against two places -Hana Koa was $10 cheaper and Village Beer Shop was $11 cheaper. I called Bottleheads, thinking it was a mistake in the price. The staff person there confirmed the pricing and indicated that was the pricing the owner wanted. I was told they'd have the owner call me. He/they never did. Never going back and will warn my friends as well. read more

The best tasting experience I've had in a while and such a gem to find on Oahu!! Easily added ourselves to the waitlist ahead of time because we went on a Saturday and it was busy as always. The list of options for 2oz pours was substantial and definitely had whites and reds for all tastes. The shop was even nice enough to go around and give a free tasting to all the guests present. Our group really loved the Hawaii whiskey mafia III makers mark and the Hawaii sake likiloi. The sake is more on the dry side rather than the sweet side, which Robert told us ahead of time; I do think that made us enjoyed it more since we knew what to expect. Maker's mark will be really good with ice and a citrus peel. They told us they will have their own branded whiskey soon and I feel like I could trust their expertise. He also made his own whiskey bottled after greatness. It's such a smooth 12 year! My husband doesn't drink and is my driver so they provided him with a San Pelligrino on the house! Which meant more drinks for me! You can purchase tastings of any drink on the menu. The Rose changes often. The meat and cheese board changes every so often so it's always good to get and is very filling. They are usually packed in the evenings and space is limited. This place is such a fun addition to Kailua! AMAZING grilled cheese (so big it's definitely shareable). They have a great selection of beer, wine and spirits. They serve hard alcohol on the rocks, wine, beer and their own whiskey!! I wish they could do mixed drinks but there's a large enough selection that it's almost not needed!
