Each season we have bees come along and make their hive in our oak tree. The main problem was that they would be walking on the ground during the day and we would wake up to a sea of dead bees on our drive way as I guess at night they would be attracted to the dim security lights. At the time we had a dog and from time to time he would have a stinger on his paw. I'm prior seasons we had contacted a few but either the price was too high or it was difficult to schedule something. This year the wife found beekeeper nova and Swvin responded promptly to a direct message and he came out in a few days. The bee hive opening is roughly 20 feet up in the tree. Swvin did not hesitate to climb up his ladder and take out all of the old hive, fill it with a mud mixture, and apply three to four wire meshes to keep the bees from getting back in. While he was up there we talked and he answered all of my bee questions. When it did get warm, those honey bees really wanted back in. Each day they just tried and tried to get in. About three weeks later we are in the house and hear the loudest buzzing from the backyard. It was a huge cloud of bees and they really were trying to get in. About an hour later the swarm was gone. Later in the week my daughter noticed they would land close to the lower mesh and walk right in so somehow they got back in. I messaged Swvin and he said he would come out after the storms. He came out the following week and said they had broken through a rotting portion of the oak. He took out the new honeycombs that were built and meshed up the new opening. We had bee hive since moved in 2012, but it's getting worse year after year. Called Nova around noon, he showed up around 2 o'clock. Since the bee hive was so big, he can't clean it up from outside, so he brought two more people to help him next day. Weeks later, a swarm of bees started another new hive, Nova cleaned it up and removed a new hive from the other corner of the roof. However, the bees really liked our house, insisting to stay. Very happy. Bee swarm congregated on a bush in our backyard yesterday afternoon. I gave them until about noon today, but they had not moved on, so I called Nova. Nova arrived to my location in Sunnyvale in under an hour (during which time the swarm had moved to a bush in our front yard). Within half an hour of arriving, most of the bees had been put in the box, with the queen identified and sequestered in the box as well. Nova showed that the swarming bees were not actually aggressive, and once the queen was in the box, the rest would start moving inside to be with her. Nova left the box a few hours to allow the remaining bees to get on board, and came by to retrieve the box just after sunset, by which time there were no bees flying and just a handful sitting on the box. Very happy with the speed, expertise, and being able to know that these bees were not exterminated but will be moved to hives in agricultural areas where they are needed as pollinators. read more
