Erica Hendrickson took care of me. My first time in a salon. I usually cut my own hair with a flowbee or sometimes go to supercuts or a copy cat. I have spent 3 years growing my hair out for donation and wanted to get it cut professionally (how do you folks stand long hair, I really did not like it!). They got me in right away and I had my hair cut in time for my 24th anniversary (my wife also did not like my long hair 2 gifts for the price of one!). They mailed the hair to panteen at no charge and even took a photo of the hair next to a ruler (14inches). Im glad I did it and glad to be done. I've been coming here for I think 2 years (maybe more). I wrote a raving review about Erika before. I recently switched stylists because Erika was busy when I wanted to schedule my next appointment. So I scheduled with Megan and she was also terrific! I've never in my life had any hairstylist know what they're doing with my crazy hair (I'm 28 if that helps give a reference). It really is difficult to work with, and Erika and Megan won't deny it. My hair is thick, curly, and likes to do it's own thing--which is usually different than what I want it to do. So, Erika and Megan do great work with making my hair work for ME, not the other way around. That said, I've also had to come to terms that my hair is strange and to some extent, I just have to go with it. I'm never going to get that super thin hair that I've always wanted because my hair is too...voluminous (to put it nicely). I did recently go in and get a pixy cut. If Megan is reading this right now, she knows EXACTLY who is writing this. She was a little worried at first that it wouldn't be what I wanted, but I assured her I was ready to deal with it even if my hair looked awful. (I realize that if it looked bad, it wouldn't be their fault--it's my hair's fault. And I think this is important for all people with thick hair to realize). She went ahead and started snipping away--and it turned out amazing! I'm loving the new look so much and I'll keep going back as long as I can to get my hair done at Beehive. Megan and Erika have amazing customer service and are easy to talk to. I feel bad for having to chose one above the other because they're both great at their services and very skilled! Just relocated to Seattle from midtown Manhattan NYC and searched Yelp for top rated salons in my area that carried Aveda products. Beehive was the salon I chose and was pleasantly surprised with the welcoming environment and my stylist Mitch. I have fine hair and Mitch quickly reshaped my hair and it looks great! I received a haircut from Schona on my first visit to Beehive Salon. I did not feel particularly welcomed and received a lukewarm reception. As a first-timer, not what I would have expected. Throughout the haircut I kept hearing about various products that I should try, probably at least about three products in a five minute timeframe. I really didn't appreciate the product pushing, especially when I did not express interest. I would have expected better from an Aveda salon and frankly, was not impressed. There are much better locations in the Seattle area to choose from. read more

I always look forward to my cut & color with Faith at Beehive. The atmosphere is very friendly/girly. There's nothin posh or snooty about this place. Faith always does a great job and is open to the ever evolving ideas in my head for my head. She's also a hoot to gab with! Prices are fair and the staff really makes you feel welcomed. read more

I went here based on some of the other Yelp reviews I read, and I was not disappointed, although it was more expensive than I had expected based on people's comments.. my cut was $55. I think I had a more senior stylist - guess I should have asked about that when I made my appointment. That being said, she was great, and my hair cut was great. I really liked the laid-back atmosphere, it was nice and cheery, and everyone seemed really down-to-earth and not as fake and make-up-y as some salons can be. I went here upon the recommendation of a friend and I absolutely love it! I can't speak for all the hairdressers, but Faith does an absolutely fantastic job at a very reasonable price. I have had several different styles cut by her and they all looked great, but my current haircut is my favorite so far and it was entirely her recommendation. I was nervous too, since it is pretty short now, but she did a great job explaining just how it would look before I made the big chop, and telling me exactly what she was doing when she was cutting it all off. The place has a funky, friendly vibe, and although it is an Avon salon, I never feel pressured by the staff into buying all the products. Highly recommended. read more

I've been getting my hair cut & colored by Anna for a little over a year now and I really love it! Every time I leave, I feel so ladylike and lovely. The best part is the communication! Every appointment, Anna and I talk about what's going on with the hair, what I want to do with it, and what my options are. She's great at describing what she's going to do and what it will look like in the end. I've never walked out with anything other than what we discussed. The ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the cost....$60 for a haircut. However, I'm willing to pay the price now that I know I can truly get an awesome haircut from a stylist who knows what they're doing. This is a nice neighborhood salon that's comfortable and pleasant. I don't love Aveda, that is the only draw back for me. However, the five stars are for Meg! I love her. I've been seeing her for over a year now and we've been gradually trying to find the right color and cut balance for my curly, and beginning stages of graying, hair. Meg is awesome. She listens and consults and suggests but will only do what you are comfortable with. If you have curly hair then you know a haircut can be a scary thing. I got my hair trimmed and colored on Thursday and I've gotten compliments for days on how great it looks. You would never know I have any gray and my curls look better than ever. Thanks Meg. Katie W. has been cutting my hair for over a year, and she has consistently given me the best hair cuts I have ever had, through many style and color changes. I have straight, ultra-fine hair that shows every single scissor mark, but Katie really knows what she's doing. She listens well, and makes an effort to style it the way I would at home to make sure it will look good long after I leave the salon. I get tons of compliments on my hair, and it takes less than five minutes to style, thanks to the superb cut. As an extra bonus, Katie is cute, hilarious, and fun to chat with. I live in Fremont near a dozen hair places, many of which I've tried, but none compare to Beehive (n.b. I'm only reviewing the hair aspect of Beehive since that's all I've used). The front desk is super polite and quick. The stylists there are a cut above (oops, pun) for the same price as other simlar salons. Beehive feels both classy (no catchy theme, weird decor or gimic) and trendy (the styles that you see walk out the door are edgy but subtle) . I've had several stylists there, all of whom were great, and I really like my new stylist, Faith. She's listens carefully and then does exactly what you described but better than you described it. No one pushes products but you might want to buy them because they've been used so well in your new 'doo. read more

I have to say that Michelle - the person who provided me with the waxing service - was very good. When we were done, I was pretty certain that I would return to Beehive and request Michelle when I did. I had searched a lot of Yelp salons and selected Beehive because of the ratings and the coupon - made it worth giving it a try. Upon check out, I was told that the cost - with the $20 coupon - was $41. I had estimated $28 after I checked the pricing on the Beehive website the evening before and again before I made the appointment. I went back to my car and checked the website again, and nothing had changed. I returned immediately and pointed out the problem -- the woman said that they had changed the website a few weeks ago -- I had my IPad in hand with the website up and showed her. She refunded me the $13 that I was overcharged -- I'll need to check my debit account to make sure it goes through. It was annoying and, frankly, I felt an apology was in order, and it was more like my problem for holding them to the pricing posted on their website. I'm WAY sensitive about feeling cheated or lied to, so I cannot return to Beehive. If you choose to go, however, I can highly recommend Michelle. She is very good! read more

I've had my hair cut by a few of the stylists at beehive and it has been a wonderful experience each time! Kirby is my regular chick these days and I have just loved the transitions she's taken my 'do through. The prices are totally reasonable and she does an in-between-visit bang trim, which really helps out my short cut (not to mention the awesome head massage, fun conversation and perfect style). I usually don't write reviews but I was so impressed by my experience at Beehive that I felt like I needed to share it with the Yelp world. I went in wanting something "drastic" and my stylist Brenda talked me through what that meant. I ended up with the greatest haircut of my 26 years. We chopped off about 7 inches and the whole time Brenda made me feel comfortable and let me know each step of the way what she was about to do. The haircut was $42 but was worth every penny!! I have always had frizz issues with my hair and I complained about it often. My daughter recommended that I get a Keratin Treatment from Jessica at Beehive Salon. For those who are familiar with Keratin Treatment, you know that this is one of the most expensive hair treatments there is out there. So naturally, I was very skeptic---unsure as to whether I was ready to delve into the unknown and cough up all sorts of $$$$ for it. Will it work? Will it be worth it? And most importantly, will Jessica be the best candidate to handle this task? Ladies---and yes, you gents---you KNOW this is not an easy decision! After days (or weeks) of debating (pretty much with myself), I decided to give it a go. So, with my fingers crossed I made an appointment with Jessica, I bravely showed up on the big day and got the treatment done. Did I breathe through the 2 1/2 hour process? Not sure. But let me tell you one thing I'm certain of: JESSICA you're my new hero! My hair has never been so manageable ; I have had so many compliments especially with my new bangs --- it's nuts how hair can change your whole look. If you have frizz, this is the treatment, the salon and the stylist worth your big bucks---I kid you not! I have gone back to Beehive to get a hair color within 2 weeks of my first appointment. Again, Jessica did not disappoint. I no longer stress before getting my hair done. I go to Beehive knowing that Jessica does an exceptional job. Being in the salon is a treat in itself! The owner came to say hi on my first visit and seemed very caring. The hairstylists all seem to have a bubbly and friendly nature, the salon is tastefully decorated---I just love the ambiance!!! I LOVE THIS SALON! I had my first visit to Beehive a couple months back and was very impressed with this Salon from beginning to end. The ambiance is so cool and comfortable. From the colors to the decor, the ladies greeting me to my stylist, I was feeling nothing but relaxed. I have two young kids at home, so finding a place to do that was very important to me. Jessica was my stylist and she was fabulous! I was going for a new cut which included bangs. I was very excited but just a bit scared. She was very positive and enthusiastic throughout my visit with her. She helped ease my nerves from the start with the head massage. She engaged in conversation and was still very much in tuned with my hair. In the end, I was such a happy gal. The cut was exactly what I had imagined and the bangs were perfect. I don't know how she did it, but my hair has even grown out perfectly. I still get compliments!! I'm due for a visit and look forward to visiting Beehive and seeing Jessica again. read more

Went in here for the first time to get a major hair cut - I was sick of my long long flat hair. Jessica was my stylist - I was able to discuss with her some different ideas I had, got her input, she cut it, blow dried it, then I wanted it changed. So she cut it and blow dried it again! SUPER nice, super patient with my indecision and insecurity about cutting all my hair off! And I am LOVING my cut. Will definitely come back. I never review things, and generally am not picky about my hair. However, the best part of my experience was the free coffee. My hair looked terrible, my girlfriend got bangs, and they were on about a 10 degree angle. More importantly, it was the most expensive haircut I've gotten in Seattle and the woman who cut my hair was sick, coughing on me, and complaining about having to be at work the whole time. I am getting the feeling that I am the only one who had this type of experience, but it was enough for me to go back to cheaper trims at Rudy's. At least they're nice. read more

The atmosphere at Beehive is the best. The decor is modern and fresh, bright and sunny. You are greeted when you get there, offered a beverage, and you can make yourself at home on the large, comfy, retro sofa. The staff is friendly, helpful, and available. The stylists are top-rate, but I have to say it's the aesthetically pleasing, friendly atmosphere that sets it apart from the vast majority of salons. My hairstylist at this salon is Erika, and I am very grateful that I found her. I have fine and silky hair that is easily weighed down. I've had other stylists in the past who gave me cuts that just made my hair look flat and greasy all the time. Erika, however, understands that challenges of fine hair and does a great job. I always walk out of Beehive with my hair feeling light and free. Even when I wait overly long between haircuts, my hair retains volume and doesn't become clumpy, which is amazing. I don't know how she does it. If you have fine and silky hair, I highly recommend Erika. Having a good stylist can make just as much difference as avoiding products with build-up! read more

I found the always fabulous Shannon (owner) through my chiropractor several years ago and haven't looked back! I am always greeted by smiling, friendly receptionists and asked if there's anything I'd like to drink. Shannon takes excellent care of me, starting with consulting about if there's anything I'd like to change, etc. The products are outstanding (Aveda) and not only do I leave feeling and looking great, my haircut grows out so well that it is still looking great by my next appointment. The salon is lovely - very clean, friendly atmosphere. The colors and design are bright and cheerful. The furniture is eclectic and funky and has a great vibe - goes well with the Tangletown neighborhood. There's ample parking and great little restaurants if you want to hang around longer. read more

Meg took the time to really listen to me, even when I didn't know how to explain what I wanted. I have really fine wavy fading red hair that has been colored continuously for several years. She put the health of my hair first and was honest in her assessment of what would happen if we tried to go directly to the color I wanted. I've had my hair done by three different girls there, and each time it's been fantastic and they have been pleasant and obviously experienced. My regular stylist is Meg and she is so awesome! She is so nice and friendly and is always seems genuinely happy to see me whenever I come in. I moved to Seattle a year ago and after one horrible haircut I came across the Beehive as highly rated on Yelp. Since then, I've been to the Beehive twice and have left really satisfied. I saw Jale both times and was a little nervous when she told me she had just graduated from the Aveda academy. But by the end I was really impressed...the second time around I asked for something different to really see what she could do. Two months later, I'm still getting compliments on my haircut and the fact that I'm still wearing it down, says a lot. Typically I used to get my haircut and then a month later I'd be wearing it half up or all the way up because it looked so boring or the grow out was awkward. My haircut is great and very versatile...I'm using the Aveda Brilliant products which are wonderful and not too pricey (I switched from a pricey Pureology so this is a relief on the pocketbook). Plus Jale is a fun to talk to all while taking less than a hour for my wash, cut, and blow out. The prices are fair esp. since my haircut is still amazing two months later. The Beehive has a very balanced energy and is nice without feeling overwhelming or uptight. I totally recommend it...my husband also go here and is very impressed as well. Being a singer in a rock band, his hair is very important. :) read more

My hair dresser was very nice, but didn't seem very enthusiastic about cutting hair. I wanted to cut my hair shorter than usual. she recommended not cutting it above my collar bone which I completely agreed with. She said that cutting hair at shoulder length is bad because it gets flippy. I also agreed with that. Then she quickly proceeded to cut my hair exactly at my shoulders and now it flips so much that the two front tips of my hair go under my face like a chin strap. It looks and feels terrible. She also told me that I would be able to still put my hair up which I need because I'm very active on a daily basis. I can't get it into the smallest pony tail without the back falling out. I'm pretty unhappy with this hair cut, but I think it may have just been had luck. I'm not sure. read more

I hate when people push products at me when I get my haircut. I really, really felt that I had to buy products here. It was a stressful experience when I wanted to relax. Plus I ended up looking really poofy at the end. Who wants to look poofy? Not me. I did get this sort of gloss stuff but I think it was only because they pushed that on me too. I think it might have looked alright but it was one of those things where I don't know if I just wanted to see a difference because I paid for it. read more

This is my second time here. The first time was a good, classic aveda experience. I got the hand massage, the scalp rub down, and walked out smelling good and with hair like i asked. This time however, it was a different experience. Let me preface by saying I did call in the morning to ask if there was any availability that day for a haircut. I didn't know that this would mean being squeezed in, and getting the "supercuts" experience instead. The whole process felt rushed. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. We talked about how I wanted my hair cut, and I was pretty specific on where i wanted my bangs to hit. Now even I know that wet hair appears longer than dry hair, so when my bangs looked good "wet" they looked entirely too short for my liking when dried. I didnt get any of the "perks" you expect when going to an aveda salon. Oh, and since i didn't specify a stylist, my appointment cost $60.00. Now I would have been fine paying that had i walked out feeling refreshed, relaxed and getting what i walked in seeking. However, this was not the case. Besides the bangs, the rest of the cut is what i asked for. But for the next few weeks or so I'll be pinning my bangs back like a 4th grader till they grow out. The salon itself is very clean, well organized and fun. I know that you can have a great experience and haircut here, but Im sad to say this time i did not. read more

She questioned what I was asking for, and cut off more than I wanted. It could have somehow been a miscommunication, but nevertheless I was not happy.
