Hubby and I were on the hunt for a great steakhouse here in Abilene. We did some research and found this little gem. We ordered their Rib Eye steak and Shrimp Scampi and we were not disappointed! The steak was soo tender and juicy. So flavorful and had the perfect amount of salt. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and goes well with the butter sauce and a little lemon. The bread was amazing as well! Soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. And of course, had to try their long island ice tea! Best one I tried. Staff was very friendly as well. This place blew me away. I was in town for only one night and didn't expect to have such an wonderful dinner with outstanding service. Sirloin was cooked perfectly medium rare and it melted in my mouth. I enjoyed everything about my meal including the bread basket. The only complaint was the sweet potato was tiny but when I mentioned that to my bartender she agreed and brought out another one. I can't say enough about the service. She provided an 5 star service. She was absolutely amazing this place was lucky to have her . She was informative, knowledgeable and was able to direct me to a delicious dinner. Probably one of the best and one of my favorite places to eat in Abilene. They have great lunch specials and the food is always good (steak, burgers, salads, and more). I'm always sure to bring people visiting from out of town here to eat. On another note - they also have a separate section for special events/catering upstairs. It's a very traditional, western style, cozy type of restaurant with a fine dining feel and good service. The bread was a bit hard and getting any piece of it left a huge mess of flakes on the table. The beef soup was very good. Not overly salty like it can be at other places. I was a bit disappointed with the steak. Although the seasoning was very good and very peppery, I requested it be cooked medium and as you can see, it was well done all the way through. All in all, a nice dining experience in Abilene. We stopped by while driving through Abilene for dinner (great reviews on yelp!) And only had about a 10 minute wait pn a Wednesday night at 7:40pm. All of the staff were very friendly including the hostesses. Our sweet server/waitress was Olivia who couldn't have been more pleasant nor adorable! We skipped appetizers and ordered a glass of house cab, i got the 10 oz filet med rare, baked potato and Beehive salad. My husband got the special - blackened chicken & grilled shrimp w/pasta cappelini w/sundried tomato in a cream sauce. All of our food was superb! My filet was a little more medium rare than I like, so Olivia promptly took it back quipping "that's what we're here for!" My beehive salad was like a wedge salad that had been chopped-delicious! We didn't get dessert, because we were stuffed! We would return next time we are in Abilene! Oh! The sidewalks around there sparkle like diamonds--so beautiful! Very pretty town. read more

HANDS DOWN BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN! Beehive is always a class act! Nobody out does them. I dont care if you go to Perinis, Copper Creek, or (CRAZY expensive) Lytle... Beehive has the BEST steaks, flavors, staff, long islands, and service! Excellent chefs. Great for a date night! Real roses on the tables,, nicely decorated,, and clean. To me, their consistency really sets them apart. This is the only place well go when we want steak. The management is A++. Owned by a veteran. Staff is always professional. Happily correct anything youre unhappy with without hesitation. Been here to eat probably a hundred times and never had a bad experience. The ribeye and beef oscar are fantastic. They also have prime rib and lamb certain times of the month. Highly recommend the (giant) 6 layer chocolate cake for dessert! Great weekly specials too (but be warned, they tend to run out if you come late). Full bar. Long islands are huge and fair priced. Drinks are consistent. No obnoxious people, no loud music, no idiotic singing (eh hem, roadhouse).... just a pleasant atmosphere. Not too uppity and fancy, just respectable. No need to get overly dressed to eat here. So, wifey and I are staying overnight in Abilene and wanted a nice spot to go out for the Valentine's weekend. We read some of the top reviews about the steak, chicken-fried steak and seafood and thought that this would be a romantic spot for dinner. I couldn't be more (happily) wrong. This place has got a great setup. We called to make a reservation; but they told us that they don't take them. First come, first served. Cool. We later found out that this is a smart way to do business--let me explain. So we show up and they said that it would be at lest 45 minutes and we could have appetizers in the bar area. Fine--we're in no hurry. The bar is an uproarious scene very busy, but not uncomfortably crowded. The first thing we see is the bartender setting up five quart-size mason jars side-by-side, filled with ice. She then (two bottles at a time) starts a highly-practiced choreography of pouring down the line. Then two more bottles, then a single, then some mixer and top-off with coke. This was our introduction to the "Long Island" (iced tea, of course), which is the specialty of the house. I think 75% of those waiting in the bar were drinking these delightful concoctions and most didn't mind the wait at all. The bar staff was very friendly and happy in their busy atmosphere. For us, it was fun, we had some fried-mushrooms (which were very light and tasty) and people-watched while the dining room processed those who arrived earlier. By the time we (and other diners) were seated, probably 30% of the restaurant was feeling no pain--which added to the enjoyment of the evening--many people a little too loud, having a good time. Oh--the food was great, service was awesome, etc. etc. What I wanted to add to the standard set of reviews is this is a FUN place to spend an evening. Give it a try, have one or two Long Islands, and stop checking the time. You'll be glad you did. If we ever get back to Abilene, we'll be back here for more! Have fun, y'all. read more

Heard great things about this place online and was highly recommended from the front desk at the hotel that I am staying at. At first glance I thought the restaurant was closed because the way the lighting looks from the outside. Parking is a little difficult to find, but if you are going to eat in the evening, you can park almost anywhere. Olivia was my server and recommended a few things for me to try as a newbie to this great restaurant. I tried the Long Island and once it arrived I was a little surprised as to the size of the drink. Thank goodness for the ice in the jar lol. Food was amazing from the beehive's salad to the fried chicken steak with the sweet potato. Delicious all of it! Wow!! I ordered the rib eye and knew I made a great choice when I stuck the fork in it. I probably didn't even need my knife to cut it as it was so tender. The flavor was incredible and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare, just as I had ordered it. The wait staff was very relaxed but very attentive, they made me feel like we had been friends for years. What a great little restaurant to find in downtown Abilene! We drove in to catch an early Saturday morning flight out, so we stopped in Friday night not knowing what to expect. Such a pleasure to find a great little place with a great menu and excellent service! Their mussels appetizer was just what the doctor ordered, followed up by the chicken fried steak, not too big of a portion yet not too small, enough to take home for breakfast. The bar was cozy with a nice selection of drinks, a pretty extensive wine list, and an extensive selection of alcohol. Heck, I'd go to the bar just to have a cocktail. We're in Abilene for the weekend and I really wanted chicken fried steak for dinner at first my husband suggested Denny's which I love but I really wanted to try a local restaurant. I'm really glad I looked up Beehive it was such cool happening local spot that o really enjoyed. They had chicken fried steak which was so good! The service was great I was super impressed with the waitstaff, hostesses, even the gentleman who cleaned up the tables he was always walking around making sure everything was clean. My salad was amazing and fresh the blue cheese dressing was outstanding. My husband really enjoyed his soup which I think was beef and rice. Oh wow! I must say, this is now one of my favorite steakhouses in Abilene along side Copper Creek. The prices here are well worth the portions you receive. To start, I got the Pulled Pork Stuffed Avocado and it was delicious. The pico de gallo relish was very complimentary with the avocado that gave it a good taste. For dinner, I got the 10 oz. Filet Mignon and it was very juicy. It was super easy to cut and had the perfect char flavor from the grill. For dessert I got the New York Cheesecake with raspberry sauce which was sweet and tasty. Just your typical cheesecake! Overall, I was highly satisfied with my visit. The service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. I'll definitely be back! read more

Stopped here passing through Texas on our way to California. I found it on yelp and it looked like a place to get a great meal in the small town of Abilene. The thing that stuck out to me the most was the incredible service. The whole staff was SO nice and accommodating. Our server omg with other servers were there to make sure we had a great experience. The owner or manger (not sure his title) was walking around as well making sure everyone was enjoying their time/meal. Our meal started with some of the best complementary bread I've ever had! We ordered the pulled pork stuffer avocado (HIGHLY recommend), the peppercorn burger, and a sirloin with baked potato and daily soup, and waters. All of the food was full of flavor and cooked to our likings. Our meal came out to $50 which is extremely reasonable for what we had. They did have filet options, fish, and other pricier items but if your on a budget and want a very nice meal, you can find it here If you are driving through like us or haven't tried this restaurant yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Our group was looking for a steak place for dinner and this name caught my eye. Didn't know what to expect, the crew of folks leaving in boots, jeans, and T-shirt's as I pulled up made me think this might not be a high end place. I was wrong. This is a high end steakhouse with local prices. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The sides were well done and had a little imagination to them. No creamed spinach, but they had grilled zucchini and asparagus as options as well as the normal mashed/fried/baked choices. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. One member of our party was just doing sides and our waiter was quick to point out how soaring our sides in the group would get us all what we wanted, and reduce the bill for the group. (As mentioned, the bill was almost too low for the quality of the food. When I'm back in Abilene, this will be very high on the list of "must stop" places. read more
