Excellent service, feel like you're walking into owners home. I was greeted by a friendly smile as he showed me the beef roasting. Like a proud papa he proclaimed that this place is all about the beef. I saw that succulent beautiful beef and got the feels... My dad and I decided to give this place a try yesterday. We always split a lunch and decided on the Italian Beef sandwich. This sandwich had a really lean, tasty, juicy beef with melted swiss and tomato on Rye. We also got an order of fries. While I read some other reviews that felt the crinkle fries were more for a cafeteria, I gotta say they taste a lot better than any other fries I have had in town. They were hot and fresh and served to order. The sandwich was outstanding! We really enjoyed it. My only problem with the place is the size. It's SMALL. Not many tables and often times too damn hot to eat at the outside tables. We liked the place so much we went back today to try something else. We did the turkey on rye which is exactly the same sandwich as above but turkey instead of beef. It was ok. If I had to choose, the beef was MUCH tastier. The next time we will give one of the hot dogs a try. I say give it a whirl. We will certainly be back as both times we got hot and fresh food. Try getting hot and fresh food just about anywhere in Naples at lunchtime. Not gonna happen. I eat more cold food (that is supposed to be hot) than I care to admit. My first negative review.. Sorry. Tried a couple different items now .. but prolly not going back though. Reuben meat was chopped so finely that it almost tasted drier just because it had consistency more chalky than sliced meat to me. (dryish meat made dryer by texture.. If that makes sense?) Maybe a bad day (any restaurant can have one) but it is nowhere near the same league of what you can get at Goldies cafe (for me best reuben around) or Capriottis in Bonita. Hotdog I tried once.. Ok... but swimming in cheese wiz and so-so chili. I prefer five guys hotdogs.. For me cheese wiz as a whole is kinda of off-putting in large amounts.. And i love cheese.. so go figure. Meatball sandwich.. Meatballs were kinda strange tasting to me.. Big sandwich but I wasnt a fan at all. Maybe some people will like their take on it.. But sadly I didn't. Fries were crinkle fries.. Maybe good for a cafeteria at school.. but my expectations are much higher these days... There are 2 dozen places putting out really craveable fries.. So yeah. Just like home. This is a true Chicago eatery. If you have ever been to Chicago or are from Chicago, you know they love their hot dogs and beef sandwiches. The Chicago Dawg is the real deal, all the way down to the brands they use......and NO Ketchup....that's right. I would try everything on the menu, but for your first time, get a Chicago Dawg, a beef sandwich with cheese and hot peppers which is called giardinara in Chicago. My boyfriend is from Chicago and he said we needed to stop here since I've never had a real beef dip. He'd never been here but heard about it from his parents who have. Immediately, I was welcomed by the owner. He was helpful as I did not know what I wanted. My boyfriend wanted a combo (beef sand with Italian sausage), owner did not upcharge! Our total was $27 for sandwiches, fries, and drinks, plus all combos came with chips. As we were about to leave, the owner told us thank you so much for coming and he enjoyed our company. My parents grew up in Chicago so I've heard lots about Chicago and figured my grandmother would appreciate a blast from the past. I sat my grandmother down to study the menu, figuring I'd go up to the counter to order, and the woman at the counter offered to come and take our order. The owner came out shortly and greeted everyone as they walked in. He gave recommendations while ordering. I was considering getting a salad, but on his suggestion, I got the classic Chicago Bull Dawg. When my grandmother saw it, she said "you'll need a fork and knife." Of course, I proceeded to eat with my hands and was grateful that she doesn't have a smartphone to take a photo of me eating! So many yummy flavors on a fresh, warm soft bun. I liked the fries and my grandmother, who is a french fry connoisseur, approved of them as well. I wish I had a few more days in town to go back and try the polish and italian sausages. Next time... They're a little hard to find, but thanks to yelp/gps, I was able to find them tucked away behind Flatbread and next to Moe's. My family and I have been here multiple times and it has been consistently good. The sandwiches are great. Everyone we have recommended to come here has also raved about the beef sandwiches. I have yet to try one of the Chicago Dawgs but they look amazing and I have heard they taste as good as they look. The staff is always friendly and efficient, a rare combination in the quick service food arena. They are in the process of expanding and I can't wait until there's one closer to my house. Read this first: The Italian beef is OK but it is,not anything you are going out of your way for. The bread is a little too firm and or dense and lacking flavor. In fact I could swear that they are the hoagie rolls from Publix that we bought when we were doing sausage and peppers 3 days ago. Nevertheless when the bread gets soggy it literally falls apart. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it is little bit challenging. The beef seems very good quality but lacked flavor and perhaps even overcooked. In fact it looked and tasted like it had been prepared way ahead of time and was sitting in the steam table until my sandwich was made. I was in on a slow day at an off hour so maybe that detracted from the overall quality. It definitely lacked any seasoning or even simply salt. It was served with a nice little side of au jus but the small cup size made it very difficult to dip the sandwich without all the meat falling out of it into the cup of au jus. They were giving away chicken soup the day I was there and it was very good. However it does not seem like a standard menu item. In fact I'd likely go back more for the soup more then I would for the Italian beef Number 1that I had. I will go back sometime to try the Chicago Dog but unfortunately they decided to get all gangster and chose to spell dog "Dawg". A word of warning, the Mississippi sport peppers I had there were considerably hotter than any I've ever experienced before. In fact they were sliced and it is my feeling that they were in fact pickled jalapenos. I will say this, the people working there are extraordinarily nice. Peace out Homies! read more
