I came in with a screw in my tire needing a plug after a terrible experience at Mavis Discount Tire, where I was told I needed four new tires and that my tire couldn't even be repaired. Unfortunately, that's the kind of experience I've come to expect as a woman going in for car service alone. This morning was the complete opposite. I brought my car to Tony, and it was on the lift right at 8:00 AM and finished by 8:26 AM. Turns out I needed two plugs, and Tony was honest and straightforward--he let me know my tires are about halfway through their life and suggested considering replacements toward the end of the summer. No pressure, just facts. And then the best part--Tony insisted the repair was on the house. It honestly felt like he knew I needed a positive experience this week. It completely turned my day around. On the way down, heard an odd sound coming from under the front of the car at highway speeds. Checked under the car and a panel under the engine that was loose. At higher speeds it fluttered up and down. I'm not a mechanic nor have a lift to get under the car. We were in the neighborhood a couple days later, and I brought the car over just to see what they could do. Although they're always busy, they had an empty bay, and put the car up on the lift. Brian explained it was the clips that hold the "belly pan" in place. He fixed it in about five minutes; and when I asked "how much?" his answer was i'm a good customer. There's no charge. I would highly recommend Brinkerhoff Service anyone, who needs quality work done.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at Haviland Auto Repair on April 21, 2025, around 3:45 PM,…read moreand I feel compelled to warn others about the unprofessional behavior of the owner, Scott DeLucca, and his uncle. I walked in for a New York State vehicle inspection, a service they advertise, but from the moment I arrived, Scott was dismissive. He immediately assumed, "You're probably here for an inspection, that's the only time you come," which set a negative tone. Before I could even respond, his uncle chimed in, bringing up an irrelevant issue about tires I supposedly didn't pick up two or three years ago. What does that have to do with my inspection? Absolutely nothing. It felt like a deliberate attempt to shame me and avoid doing their job. I expected to be treated with respect as a customer, but instead, Scott and his uncle teamed up to make me feel unwelcome. They didn't offer to inspect my vehicle, nor did they provide an appointment, which they are legally required to do under New York State law (§ 79.8(c)--if they can't inspect your vehicle right away, they must offer an appointment within eight days). Instead, their hostile attitude left me with no choice but to walk out--it genuinely felt like they threw me out for no reason other than their own bad attitudes.

I got the inspection done today and the experience was great. Jay, one of the owners, welcomed me to the shop, very friendly. I sat in the waiting area after they started the inspection. There was another customer there and we started chatting. He couldn't praise the guys there enough. This other customer and I started lamenting how a lot of businesses don't provide the same customer experience we were use to from when we were younger (yes, bunch of old guys lamenting the world is going to...) and he said J&J is one of the exceptions. Jay showed me some additional concerns on my car...brake and tire wear. He showed me the problem areas and said I have some time left but these expenses are coming down the pike. It was refreshing to see this sales approach...I was aware he was upselling the other services they offer and I was totally happy with that...that's what all businesses must do. It was the approach, education, and showing me why the repairs would be needed that convinced me that when I need the work to be done, I will go to Jay and his team. Well done guys and keep it up! PS: they have the cutest wall of kids pictures that puts a smile on your face.
