I had a deeply disappointing experience at Haviland Auto Repair on April 21, 2025, around 3:45 PM,…read moreand I feel compelled to warn others about the unprofessional behavior of the owner, Scott DeLucca, and his uncle. I walked in for a New York State vehicle inspection, a service they advertise, but from the moment I arrived, Scott was dismissive. He immediately assumed, "You're probably here for an inspection, that's the only time you come," which set a negative tone. Before I could even respond, his uncle chimed in, bringing up an irrelevant issue about tires I supposedly didn't pick up two or three years ago. What does that have to do with my inspection? Absolutely nothing. It felt like a deliberate attempt to shame me and avoid doing their job. I expected to be treated with respect as a customer, but instead, Scott and his uncle teamed up to make me feel unwelcome. They didn't offer to inspect my vehicle, nor did they provide an appointment, which they are legally required to do under New York State law (§ 79.8(c)--if they can't inspect your vehicle right away, they must offer an appointment within eight days). Instead, their hostile attitude left me with no choice but to walk out--it genuinely felt like they threw me out for no reason other than their own bad attitudes.

I was comfortable enough in the waiting room and had access to WiFi so I could do some work. I used a coupon and my total was around $85. I was a bit surprised because I usually pay around $70 at other places, but they did use Euro grade because I have a cooper. My only other thing was that the technician who moved my car was smoking as he got into my car. He wasn't smoking in my car but the smoke got in there and I could smell it for the rest of the day. On the way down, heard an odd sound coming from under the front of the car at highway speeds. Checked under the car and a panel under the engine that was loose. At higher speeds it fluttered up and down. I'm not a mechanic nor have a lift to get under the car. We were in the neighborhood a couple days later, and I brought the car over just to see what they could do. Although they're always busy, they had an empty bay, and put the car up on the lift. Brian explained it was the clips that hold the "belly pan" in place. He fixed it in about five minutes; and when I asked "how much?" his answer was i'm a good customer. There's no charge. I would highly recommend Brinkerhoff Service anyone, who needs quality work done.

Once started was sluggish, wanting to be put in a lower gear than normal, and the check engine light came on. I took it first to AutoZone, who recommended High End. it was a good recommendation. Ashley, working in the office, seemed to really know what she was talking about, as if she had been a mechanic all her life. They took my car in right away, even though I didn't have an appointment, got the OEM compatible coils delivered and installed the next day (as soon as they came in). The price quoted was reasonable, and I was charged less than what they quoted. They got me on the road just one day later than I had planned. I arrived home with no problems, and my mpg was just as expected when I filled up back in VA.

Recently, I came out to find a mark on my fender not sure where it came from so I went to Fishkill autobody and asked them the best way I could remove it.
