I didn't write a review at my last visit in 2018 (sorry) but if you look at my previous yelp review from 2016, my opinion hasn't changed. They were thankfully very diligent with their covid procedures. Everyone wore a mask properly at all times, there was hand sanitizer available, signs asking customers not to touch the products, and the door was kept closed to keep people from wandering in and out of the store. I called at 11am to make a 1pm appointment and Becky was friendly and accommodating on the phone. I get the impression that she likes to keep up on all sorts of continuing education and likely has a good hand on lots of hairs. For you curly haired girls, she has naturally curly hair so she probably understands curly hair too! So, after my great cut she didn't have a product I was looking to purchase. So, she immediately said she would order it and still honor the new client 20% off. She did NOT recommend a ton of expensive products that don't work on thin hair as soon many stylists do. Last Saturday, I went to the salon for a blunt bob haircut (see attached the inspo picture). While the stylist technically cut my hair into a bob, it was not the haircut I asked for. She removed a significant amount of my hair by heavily thinning it out without ever informing me, asking for my consent, or discussing it with me. That was never something I requested, and it completely changed the look and feel of my hair. It's also worth mentioning that I've been getting this exact haircut for the past eight years, and I have never had a single issue. This isn't my first bob, and I know exactly how it's supposed to look and feel. Never before has a stylist excessively thinned out my hair without discussing it with me or asking for my permission. I left the salon thinking something felt off, and once I got home, I realized just how different my haircut was from what I had asked for. I felt devastated, frustrated, and completely blindsided. I take great care of my hair, and seeing it so over-thinned was heartbreaking. I honestly cried for two days because of it. I called the salon, the staff followed up with me after I reached out, and I appreciated their communication. However, I was told that the owner would be the one addressing the situation. Unfortunately, my conversation with the owner made an already upsetting experience even worse. Throughout the call, I felt completely dismissed and gaslit. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no acknowledgment of how I was feeling. Instead, I felt like he controlled the entire conversation and repeatedly invalidated my concerns. When I told him I had been crying for two days because of my haircut, his response was essentially, "Really? You're crying over this?" That comment made me feel embarrassed and foolish for expressing how much this affected me. Also expressed that he does not want me as a client. As a salon owner, you should understand that while it may be "just hair" to you, it is MY hair. You don't know how much time, effort, and care I've invested over the years to keep it healthy. Having that changed without my knowledge or permission was incredibly upsetting. Rather than listening, the owner insisted that I got the haircut I asked for and said he didn't think it was a bad haircut. That completely misses the point. My issue is not whether he personally likes the haircut... it's that my hair was altered in a way I never agreed to. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. A mistake can happen, but the way a business responds afterward says everything. I left feeling unheard, invalidated, and blamed for my own reaction. I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience.

A few days later, I received an email that the appointment had been cancelled by the salon. On June 13, I received a text asking me to confirm. Confused, I called reception. I was told that the machine accidentally made an appointment for me on June 6, and that the staff had cancelled that one (because it was an error), and that's why I got a cancellation email. She said the machine makes mistakes often, and that I definitely wouldn't be charged for an appointment I was told was cancelled. An hour later, I received an angry voicemail from the manager, Sharon, saying that even though they had "accidentally made an appointment for me on June 6th" (her words verbatim) and then cancelled it, sending me with a cancellation email, I would be charged due to their cancellation policy. I called back and explained the situation to the receptionist, who agreed that it was ridiculous to charge me for a machine mistake. Of course I was aware of the cancellation policy, being a loyal customer. She said Sharon would call me back. She did not. I have disputed the charge. Petty and disappointing. Will definitely not be returning or recommending to others.
