I'm not sure if this was provided by the salon or the bride, but there was a table in the center of the salon which had bagels, muffins, juice, mimosas and water for us to enjoy while waiting. Since we couldn't all have appointments at once, it was nice to be able to have a little nosh. I believe there were two or three stylists working with our group. Cassie did my hair and did a great job. I knew I wanted some sort of flowy curls with half of my hair out of my face, but I left the rest up to Cassie's expertise. Cassie and a few other stylists strategized and then she got to work. It took a while to curl my hair but my hair is very thick and wavy so that's expected. She meticulously went through each section. I was very happy with the end result. I only wish a few more pins and spray had been used. I had to run back to the salon to pick up a friend a little after my appointment and another stylist was able to touch me up which helped the style last through most of the night. The whole party, especially the bride, looked gorgeous so I would certainly recommend Salon Concrete for your wedding or formal hair needs.

The left side of my hair was actually longer in the front than it was in the back, while the right side was significantly shorter in the front than in the back as it's supposed to be with face-framing. Backstory: I have been in Boston for a summer internship but came home to NJ for one weekend and decided to get my hair done here since my mom raves about Salon Concrete all the time. I noticed the unevenness when I got back to Boston and figured they wouldn't mind fixing it up a little for me when I got back...WRONG! I just called Salon Concrete, granted it's been a while since I figured it didn't matter when I call them because I won't be back until the end of August, to let them know about my hair and that I'd like to come back to get it fixed. The receptionist that I spoke to this time around was incredibly unpleasant and unfortunately I didn't get her name. I was informed that when I returned home from Boston they would not fix my hair but I could pay for another haircut since the grace period has ended. I understand that when I return from Boston a few weeks will have passed since my haircut, but the mistake will still be there! It would really only take them 5 minutes to fix it! I'm VERY disappointed with their customer service after my appointment. I will not be returning to pay another $70 for a quick fix that should not cost me anything because it should not have happened in the first place, I of course understand that people make mistakes and that is okay with me. I do not understand why Salon Concrete thinks it's okay to let there mistakes go unfixed. Aside from the fact that Salon Concrete will not fix their mistake, Kristen and Nina were both great. Nina did an awesome job with my color and aside from the one mistake, I'm loving my cut from Kristen. I simply cannot overlook the rude receptionist and the terrible customer service that followed my appointment.

Last Saturday, I went to the salon for a blunt bob haircut (see attached the inspo picture). While the stylist technically cut my hair into a bob, it was not the haircut I asked for. She removed a significant amount of my hair by heavily thinning it out without ever informing me, asking for my consent, or discussing it with me. That was never something I requested, and it completely changed the look and feel of my hair. It's also worth mentioning that I've been getting this exact haircut for the past eight years, and I have never had a single issue. This isn't my first bob, and I know exactly how it's supposed to look and feel. Never before has a stylist excessively thinned out my hair without discussing it with me or asking for my permission. I left the salon thinking something felt off, and once I got home, I realized just how different my haircut was from what I had asked for. I felt devastated, frustrated, and completely blindsided. I take great care of my hair, and seeing it so over-thinned was heartbreaking. I honestly cried for two days because of it. I called the salon, the staff followed up with me after I reached out, and I appreciated their communication. However, I was told that the owner would be the one addressing the situation. Unfortunately, my conversation with the owner made an already upsetting experience even worse. Throughout the call, I felt completely dismissed and gaslit. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no acknowledgment of how I was feeling. Instead, I felt like he controlled the entire conversation and repeatedly invalidated my concerns. When I told him I had been crying for two days because of my haircut, his response was essentially, "Really? You're crying over this?" That comment made me feel embarrassed and foolish for expressing how much this affected me. Also expressed that he does not want me as a client. As a salon owner, you should understand that while it may be "just hair" to you, it is MY hair. You don't know how much time, effort, and care I've invested over the years to keep it healthy. Having that changed without my knowledge or permission was incredibly upsetting. Rather than listening, the owner insisted that I got the haircut I asked for and said he didn't think it was a bad haircut. That completely misses the point. My issue is not whether he personally likes the haircut... it's that my hair was altered in a way I never agreed to. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. A mistake can happen, but the way a business responds afterward says everything. I left feeling unheard, invalidated, and blamed for my own reaction. I cannot recommend this salon based on my experience.
