We had to try this place since I have read all about it! We got a few flavors, the coco vanilla, cheesecake, pistachio, and maple. They were really delicious and quite sweet. We had some to bring back as leftovers and had them for dessert later. Just microwave for 10-13 secs and it was perfect. This is definitely a place to try at least once.
You must try these beavertails, at least once, while you are in Canmore or Banff. They are deliciously addicting. It is delectable delight. They are made fresh right after you order. Made in just a few minutes. The crew are all very helpful, polite and jolly. Shout out to Archie, Jessie and Mark! Thank you to you all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store is very clean and well decorated with fun stuff, even the trash cans are colorful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went to this store a few times while were in Canmore.
A nice fried dessert. Sort of like a denser funnel cake with toppings. Pretty much a fried dough that's dusted with sugar and whatever flavor option you choose to top it with. The tourists in us wanted to try anything that says Canadian. The two Banff locations always had long lines, so we decided to give it a try when we saw the same Chain in downtown Canmore. We ordered the traditional poutines and the classic BeaverTail (there are many other topping available). The premade dough was freshly fried upon order and dusted with cinnamon and sugar. It's pretty much the Canadian version of a churro. The poutine is what you'd expect from a fast food chain, with the cheese curd came in a pre-portioned small plastic bag. I doubt the locals actually eat anything from here, but as a tourist, at least we tried it, eh!

It's kind of like a flat churro, or a sweet flatbread that is fried. We tried their Classic BeaverTail with cinnamon and sugar. It was good like a churro and raised up my glucose level to pre-diabetic levels. Half of one was enough for the entire week. They had other flavors or toppings like bananas, pistachios and more. If sweet isn't your thing, they do have savory as they can make you a beaver dog, or a hot dog wrapped in their fried dough. The classic was good and messy. It is worth trying if your blood glucose level allows you.

The fried dough was topped with cinnamon sugar and tasted like churro dough; it's alright and exactly like you would expect. The poutine was also fine; tasted per expectations and nothing amazing. The cheese curds literally came out of a plastic bag that the staff cut open and dumped on the fries; not impressed. Overall, this is just a touristy spot but isn't mind blowing in any way.

The countertops and bins that the food was in were caked in massive amounts of the toppings. The cashier also seemed really overwhelmed and just tried to get through the line - so not very personable. The treat however, was delicious.
Friendly staff and accommodating to our requests to customize from the menu items. It's a little pricey but the texture, flavor and gooeyness makes it all worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is small with one tall table for standing only. No seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a sink to wash your hands after all the stickiness from the finger licking goodness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a few locations around Canada.

It's a huge serving and made fresh. The staff were very helpful and told us the popular flavors. A made to order deep fried donut thats in a flattened shape like a beaver tail! I appreciate how customizable these things are! You can get so many different toppings and even add a scoop of ice cream on top! We did the bananarama which is nutella with sliced bananas and a sprinkle of powered sugar, so freaking delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It smells like heaven when you walk inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was a decent size so I shared with my husband. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside of this establishment is pretty small and cute inside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was super friendly and she was patient and explained the menu and concept to us since we had never been before. It's definitely worth a try if you are craving something sweet.
3.5 stars If anything give a beaver tail a go around at least once. It's a dessert chain that serves a puff pastry in a shape of a beaver's tail but you can customize yours and they are made to order. So they come out piping hot and fresh! My sister and I shared an apple pie one and it was delicious and the apples were so fresh. It does get messy, so it's nice they have a sink to wash your hands. If it's your first time having a beaver tail you can ring the bell! They also sell poutine and ice cream.
Mmmmm. SO Happy I read about this place ahead of staying in Canmore and made the time to get one while I was in town. This is a chain around town (there's one in Banff too). We stopped in for one on a way back from a hike as a post hike treat, and boy was it. Two of us decided to split one, and even though it was super rich and one filled up both of us, I sort of wished we had gotten two just so we could have tried more flavors! Settled on a CocoVanil and it was sooo yummy. They fry up the tail fresh, so it takes a couple of minutes to make, and then they add all the toppings fresh. I had planned on taking it home and waiting a little before eating but it looked so yummy fresh that I just had to dig right in.
Happened to find on Facebook that they were offering FREE Beavertails 3-5PM for 1 day only. We stopped into the store and they also had the advertisement for free up so it was legit! I thought they would have made 1/2 size ones for the freebies but they were FULL sized. Fresh, crispy dough. Generous cinnamon and sugar sprinkle. Definitely large enough to share as after a full one we all felt pretty greasy. Tastes just like carnival mini donut. 10/10 was happy with the size and service at this location. We also tried the ice cream. Sadly I can't remember the name but it was vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel swirls. Was great. Friend got the Blueberry Bliss and had real cream cheese mini bites.

Wow, one of my top 3 foods of my trip to Banff (this doesn't say much about the food scene in Banff, but it does say a lot about my appreciation for Beaver Tails). I tried the MEHPLE and it was sweet and delicious. I waited til my last day to try Beaver Tails and if I had been there sooner, I would've been here multiple days of my trip. Eh?!? Deep fried greasy mess that's fairy pricey. BeaverTails markets the mess but doesn't justify the price. The hype isn't worth it - skip the tail and go for a different treat instead. read more

First time trying a beaver tail, and it was truly amazing. I got the strawberry cheesecake and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. In the picture is also the mehple. The maple smelled amazing but it was quite runny so be careful when eating this one. Staff was also kind and the line moved quickly. read more

Okay, if you're in Canada you've got to try a beavertail pastry, right? Besides it being a nice treat, the name is fun. There's not much to this little stand but I got a classic beavertail with cinnamon and sugar and ate it outside. They have numerous options of toppings but I stayed with the classic. They also had other food items like ice cream, fries and even a beaver dog (hot dog wrapped in dough). read more

Had to try a beaver tail while I was in town. Found this spot on yelp and headed over for a snack. Apparently, this company has been around since the late 70s. This little spot is found in a location shared with a convenience store. Headed to the counter and ordered the hazel amour which was a beaver tail covered with Nutella spread. What are beaver tails? They're whole wheat fried patties. You can pick your toppings or pick a preset one off the menu. We also added a scoop of vanilla to ours. It tasted pretty much like carnival food to me. The beaver tail was served piping hot, covered with Nutella...but the gelato was quite terrible. It didn't have good depth to it and was pretty ice and watery. If you like super sweet, deep fried, donut-like items covered in even sweeter toppings...then this is for you. read more

It was just okay. I had the strawberry Cheesecake Beaver Tail. It was pretty messy. Okay taste but not out of this world. I guess I expected to be wowed. My wife have the Beaver Tail Sundae. They forgot to make it, then made it with chocolate instead of caramel. She got 2 sundaes for the price of one I guess. It was okay as well. Oh well. Moving on. read more

When I read about a Beaver Tails dessert, I knew I wanted to try it. Being someone who doesn't like chocolate, there weren't a ton of options, but still a few. I got the pecan pie and substituted the chocolate drizzle for caramel. It was amazing. The pastry was light and airy. It reminded me a bit of an elephant ear. My husband and Mom liked theirs as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up here again while we're here still. read more
Umm, fried dough with sugary toppings? Could there be anything wrong with that sentence? This is a Canadian specialty like poutine. It's delicious, just eat it! It's lighter than it sounds. The maple cream and Oreo toppings were yummy! They also offer poutine and fruit smoothies for those that aren't feeling the fried dough. Seriously, I don't think those people have a fun bone in them. I kid. We tried a fruit smoothie and it was yummy because you get to choose your liquid base, two kinds of frozen fruit and the flavor of gelato that goes in the smoothie! It certainly hit the spot for my sugar craving and it certainly got me to cross 'beaver tail' off my list. read more

Oh my gosh! Beaver Tails are SO good! It's like having fair food year round! I have had a few different varieties and I'm writing this review as I'm about to have another. With a lot of restaurants closing at 6PM on a Saturday night, but with us not feeling hungry yet, we went to Beavertails as a substitute dinner! Everything looked so scrumptious and tasty! The sweet tooth in me was coming out, trying to decide between caramel sorbet or a maple Beavertail! Turns out I couldn't decide and we ended up ordering both. The caramel sorbet was interesting. Although it tasted very much like caramel, I think I would have liked a thicker and creamier consistency for caramel-flavored ice cream. It was my first time having sorbet with a flavor that wasn't fruit, so that was throwing me off a bit. The employee was kind enough to let us try some samples before picking, which I am happy about! The maple Beavertail tasted great! Delicious fried dough smothered with maple syrup, designed in a way to look like a Beaver Tail. How much more Canadian can we get with our snacks?? I do wish there was more maple coating and less of the chocolate sauce. The chocolate sauce was overbearing, and after about halfway, it just tasted like chocolate more so than maple. The Beavertail seems like a classic sweet treat, and where else to get it aside from Beaver Tails, the place named after the food itself? Come here if you're in Canmore and want a sweet treat! read more

Oh, the mighty beaver... Canada's national animal and also their well known unique pastry! As a tourist in Canada it was neccesary for me to try one, and I am sure glad I did!! Beaver Tails are a fried-dough pastry that is shaped to resemble the flat tail of a beaver. They are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.The traditional Beaver Tail is topped with cinnamon sugar, however, this location also offers Reeses, cinnamon apple, maple, Nutella, Oreo, and other toppings. I chose the Oreo Topping, which I absolutley loved and would reccomend to anyone wanting to try a Beaver Tail! This location has nice service, and a selection of gelato, poutine, and smoothies for the folks who don't want a beaver tail. read more
