As an experienced rider, I was looking for a trail ride that would not be the stereotypical nose-to-tail walking trail ride that is so commonly offered, and this trail ride did not disappoint! We were able to ride in a pack, side-by-side each other. We rode from the ranch, out through a pasture, and up a hillside to the top of the butte. On the butte, they let us experienced riders do more than walk on our horses. Amy, Josh, and Josh were so warm and welcoming and shared some history about the area. Fantastic tour guides, and amazing humans. My friend and I were visiting Colorado for about a week, and Amy gave us some recommendations of additional things to do/see while we were in the area, as well. Next time I make it back to Colorado, I would absolutely go back and visit Platte Ranch again. They engaged with each one individually, tried to learn a little about each of us and made sure everyone was having a good time, that we were all comfortable, and they let us know several times to just ask if there was anything we needed. We had two riders cancel last minute due to an ER visit and unfortunately their rides were non-refundable. The ride itself was a ton of fun. It was such a peaceful and nice ride. I rode on Milo who apparently is known as the lazy horse. Their other horses we rode were Montana, Winnie, Dallas and Denver. The staff was very helpful in matching a rider to a horse based on size. and the horses had a specific order during the trail ride. There were some water crossings and plenty of photo opportunities. it was such a gorgeous trail ride. My fiancé had skied in many of the areas we rode through so it was crazy for him to see it during a different season. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a summer activity!

Our family reunion brought a group of 15 paying riders to the stables during shoulder season. Unfortunately, just before my scheduled ride, my husband was hospitalized and I spent three days at the hospital with him. As a result, I was unable to participate in the ride. When I contacted the stables to request consideration of a refund for the unused $125 reservation, I was told that refunds are only available if "Activity Protection" had been purchased. What was particularly frustrating is that I made my reservation by phone and was never informed that Activity Protection was available. Had it been offered, I certainly would have purchased it. The most disappointing part was the lack of empathy and customer service shown in response to a documented medical emergency. A future ride credit was offered, but since we live out of state, that option has little practical value. I understand businesses need policies, but I also believe there should be room for compassion and reasonable customer accommodation in exceptional circumstances. Instead, I was left feeling that keeping the $125 was more important than supporting a customer facing an unexpected family medical crisis. I cannot comment on the quality of the trail ride itself, but I can comment on how this situation was handled, and unfortunately the customer service experience fell far short of my expectations.

They have a convenient outdoor grill where we made all of our meals and they have plenty of cooking resources to help guests feel like they have an equipped kitchen for their food preparation. The blankets and linens on the bed were incredibly comfortable and provided us with excellent rest. The experience strikes the right balance between camping and enjoying the ranch lifestyle. The public part of their barn is open 24/7 with WiFi and they have a cute store inside selling a variety of provisions as well as clothing and fun gift items like tiny felt alpacas. You can buy fresh beef and pork grown by their neighbors' farms directly from them which is a cool unique perk of staying at the ranch. We enjoyed getting to interact with all the different animals they have on the ranch consisting of alpacas, goats, cows, bulls, horses, and dogs. The most incredible experience we had was doing the horse heart event with Merrill. She guided us through interacting with the horses in an emotional and intimate way that was unforgettable. We then learned how to groom and take care of the horses then got to ride the same horses we bonded with the following morning for a breathtaking morning horse ride. Last but not least, you can't beat the view of the stars at night, it's as clearest a sky out there as you could ever hope for. We are so grateful to have found this place and can't wait to come back!!

While I was there I saw a horse pen with 6 horses in it, with only one small shelter from the snow and cold, yet, none of the horses had winter coat's on. They were standing in muddy ice and also there was a little white goat in the same pen. It seemed odd and dangerous to all of us. There was a lot of trash and junk around the entire horse barn, there was also two little ponies standing on ice with only a small tarp above them for shelter. this place does not look like the pictures I saw on the their website and the animals look destressed
