Had an awesome trip down the Colorado river with this company! Quick, but scenic one hour drive from steamboat. Bill was our guide and he was friendly, personable, and reassuring throughout the entire trip. They had these inflatable kayaks that they called duckies that can fit 1-2 people, and you paddle along after the raft. We switched off between all of us and our two kids ages 8 and 12 even had a go of things in the duckie, and I felt they were safe even though they were definitely not the best paddlers, given Bill's watchful eye and directions on paddling! Bill also pointed out wildlife, good spots to jump in the river and swim, and places were could float in our life vests in the current downstream. Had such a great time, even though the rapids had downgraded to only class 1-2 by the time we went in late July. The rapids still provided plenty of excitement for us all, especially in those duckies! Definitely go with this group--they were great! read more

My wife and I booked a ride with them. Right as we pull up to the meeting point, Paul and Chelsea were right there to greet us and were extremely friendly and helpful, making sure that we had everything we needed (it was a cooler day) and they brought extra items in case we needed them. Paul was our guide and was very knowledgeable, encouraging, and funny. We could have spent all day with him. He really made the rafting experience top notch!!! We took the family for our first river trip with this company. They were the closest to Steamboat but I was mainly impressed with the competitive cost and the longest float time! From my first call to our float everything went smoothly. They were patient with all my questions on the phone and they offered plenty of trip times/days. As soon as we arrived the paperwork was quick and easy then we loaded up and headed to the put in point. No waiting!! We opted for the half day upper Colorado trip and it was perfect for my two kids age 8. Life jackets were provided. Dan was our guide and he was knowledgeable and accommodating to our questions and was also entertaining! Dan has years of experience as a river guide and does his job well. My kids were incredibly disappointed that the drought had closed off the Yampa River to tubing! In an attempt to find something similar I booked a rafting trip with Colorado River Guides. We were so surprised at haw much we loved this trip! Booking was simple and quite affordable for the length of the trip. The drive down to the starting point from Steamboat Springs was beautiful and wasn't too far. Our guides, Bill and Paul, were wonderful. Our experience with CRG was great, start to finish. We made a very last minute reservation Wednesday evening and were happy they fit us in their schedule Thursday morning. Once on the river Paul and Dana were great guides. We were a group of five (two adults, three kids). Our boys took turns rafting in a small raft with Paul and loved it more than riding in the duckies with us. The stretch of river we were on was pretty tame, but a fun, relaxing way to spend the morning. The whole team was friendly. Would definitely recommend CRG. read more

We came to CO for the TCS world series in steamboat. With so many activities to choose from it is hard to decide. One call with Chelsea and I booked our adventure with her. She answers all your questions, offered us a great trip package to accommodate our tournament schedule, the pricing was very fair. We had non swimmers, children 8yrs and up, even us old parents (some high energy and others timid) this trip was an exact fit for everyone. So.... I had never been on a rafting trip. We were so fortunate to get the owner as our guide. Honestly it was just a privilege and an honor to have Paul as our guide. I think he said he would be retiring soon at a young 70 years old (I thought that is what he said concerning his age). He was so appropriate and engaged with our 8 and 6 yo daughters. "Big or small splash?" he would ask. They always asked for "Big". As an adult I so enjoyed the history of the Colorado River which he told us about. Whether it was the train connections that bordered the Colorado River or the marble(maybe granite) that was in the river going to the Lincoln Memorial or how the Ute Indians and trees were taken down for good reason by fire or how cowboys etched the initials in the sandstone. It was a floating history lesson full of appropriate rapids that had my girls giggling and wet. It was an experience that I will always remember. Best part of our trip going under the Colorado state bridge. Could not have possibly asked for anything else except maybe a longer river rafting trip with Paul as our guide. read more

Rich was our guide and he was more than we could have asked for during our trip down the river! My wife and I took our 7 year old son for his first time on the water and he had a blast! Rich interacted with the kids and adults very well and kept the group laughing while pointing out landmarks and discussing all things Colorado. My highlight was following the big "blue bus" in one of the ducky's and finally being joined by my son midway through.
