This trip was definitely one for the books! In the midst of COVID, the entire Mad staff did an amazing job ensuring all protocols were in order to keep everyone safe which is very important during these times. We had a party of 10: 7 adults & 3 kids and we all had such a great time. Quick heads up for those planning to make a trip here - our check in time was 8:30am and we didn't get on the water until about 10-10:30am. During that time, the staff gears you up with equipment and very important information before heading out to the water. After that, the bus drive over to the water is about 25 mins. You're out on the water for about 1.5 hours - and we got back around 12:30-12:45pm. This is really important for anyone planning time wise! All staff members were incredibly kind and helpful! Our guide on the bus was Emily and was such a joy to have, not to mention, absolutely hilarious! Our boat guide was Joe, who we absolutely adored! He had such high spirit and also had a bunch of great facts throughout the ride. Every single one of us thoroughly enjoyed our time and we hope to do this again next time we are in CO, and especially under better circumstances. Highly recommended! read more

I had a blast white water rafting down the Colorado River with Mad Adventures. When you arrive to their store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Our family had a lot of fun, and the guides did a great job. our guide was Auni and she was fun and nice. Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid. read more

We had a great time rafting with Mad Adventures this past weekend! Zach was our guide and he was so great! He had tons of info about the area, wildlife and rafting knowledge. The river was beautiful and pretty calm. A few members of our group took advantage of the cliff jumping opportunity. Very fun to see! The water was a little cold for my liking This location in Kremmling is so close to many other attractions (Hot Sulfur Springs, Granby, Grand Lake). Our group of 6 adults absolutely loved our rafting trip on the Colorado River! The guides were personable and informative and safety was always their priority. The staff kept us interested and laughing the entire trip, especially the bus ride to and from the river, and we even spotted a bear on the way back from rafting. One of the most memorable parts of the trip was when we took a break from rafting to take an ice cold plunge off of Jump Rock. I ended up with a sweet "Colorado River spankin'" bruise though, so I highly recommend you follow directions when making that jump and not land on your bottom :) 10/10 would still do again! read more

Our rafting experience could not have been better. Our guide was Joe...and he was amazing. Informative, great with the kids, and really made sure we had a great time! We learned a lot about the history of the river, were able to do some 360s, get wet, and I was the only one in the group to jump from the 40' rock into the river! Good times all the way around and we would definitely do it again. It doesn't get to crazy, we have never been white water rafting or canoeing or kayaking so we have zero experience. But Ricardo our guide always made me feel safe. We all loved it so much. We had such a great time, even though it rained the entire trip. We signed up for an afternoon float trip in mid July. The crew at Mad Adventures could not have been nicer or more helpful. They kept the mood light with jokes but always made sure we knew all of the safety procedures. Our guide, Steve, gave us lots of information about the area while he guided us through a mild trip on the upper Colorado river. There is a place to jump off rocks into the river. While that was more adventure than I was up for, some people on our trip took the plunge. Colorado weather can be unpredictable, so I would advise keeping an eye on the weather in the area and be prepared for sun, rain, and cold. The trips run rain or shine and ours was rain but it didn't dampen our spirits. We all had a tremendous time, thank you to everyone at Mad Adventures. Also, they sent an email the day before we drove up to warn us about construction on I70 which stopped all traffic at different times during the day. We left earlier and got there in time because of their heads-up. read more

Just returned from a trip to Colorado and the high point of our visit was the 4x4 ride with MAD Adventures. Henry was an awesome guide, he was informative, funny and a pretty good photographer. We had beautiful scenery and great views from Rollins Pass. I would highly recommend this trip. MAD Adventures is a class act all around. I did a white water rafting trip with their sister company last summer (Rocky Mountain Adventures in Ft Collins). It was also a great experience. While in Colorado for a family celebration, members of our family decided that they wanted to go white water rafting. We made reservations with Mad Adventures. I am so glad that we did. Thomas was our boat guide. He was very knowledgeable throughout our float down the river. When members fell out of the boat, he kept this head, calmed the rest of the boat down, helped pull the fallen members back in the boat, all while navigating the Colorado River. Absolute best part of my trip to Grand Lake. My father was concerned with the age of the buses, considering the mountainous terrain that we had to travel. Our bus broke down, but we joined another bus that had available seats. Throughout the transfer, the staff were understanding, and trying to make the situation as best as possible. Our guide, Rachel, was seriously amazing. I am so happy that we had the opportunity to raft with her on the Colorado River. She brought an indescribable positive and carefree energy on the bus and on the raft. I loved getting to know her, and her guidance truly made our trip a lot of fun. Another part of the experience I loved was how deep of a connection the staff had with their surrounding environment, and how they loved to share the history of the land with the group. I took my 4 yr old son for his 1st rafting trip, could not have been better experience for us. We did Class 2/3 rapids out of Kremmling on Colorado River and that was right pace for my son and half day ride the right amount of time. The guide Joe gave great history and commentary all the way. Relaxed pace perfect for little kids. Actually we left some clothes by accident at changing spot and Josh in office tracked them down and mailed them to us. They have other spots (Idaho Springs) with faster rides so if you don't have kids that might be better choice. Also 1/2 day means about 90 min on the water, so pick full day if you are looking for more time rafting. I have seen complaints about that elsewhere online, but half day includes about 1 hr roundtrip bus travel to drop and pick up spots. All in all great experience. read more

There are plenty of rafting services available on or around the Colorado River, but I can't imagine a better experience than we had with Mad Adventures. Cheevers and his team were friendly, helpful and funny. Plenty of bad dad jokes to keep us laughing or sighing the entire trip. Rafting on the Colorado River was spectacular and if you go, you have to take a leap off of Jump Rock. We took the 1/2 day trip and it was plenty, but we also could have gone longer. This was an AMAZING way to spend our 4th of July. My family of 4 had so much fun doing the class 2/3 rafting trip down the Colorado river. Our raft guide Emily is really what made this trip so fun. Not only did she do a phenomenal job effortlessly guiding us through the river, but she also made great conversation and told hilarious jokes. If you can try and get in Emily's rafting group when you come, I highly recommend it!! After returning back to shop, we got to see all the very fun family pictures the photographers took of us. Rafting done right, really. I went on the level two/three whitewater rafting trip and everything was absolutely perfect. Before rafting, the safety talks and information sessions were throughout his but still quick. Then we got to the actual rafting and it was awesome. The rapids weren't anything crazy, but our guide, Emily, kept us super engaged with a bunch of stories and jokes. There was even a stop where we could go cliff jumping, either off of a five foot rock or a twenty foot rock. Overall, it was a lot of fun. Had a great time on the Upper Colorado half day trip with 4 adults and 5 kids ages 4-9. At times, it was a pretty tranquil float down the river with beautiful scenery, plus a few sections of white water that the kids got a huge kick out of, where they got wet, but never felt in danger of falling out of the boat. Our guide, Kass, did a great job of keeping us safe and entertained by playing games or doing a "bump and spin". Paddle high-fives were a big hit too! There was also a spot where you could jump off rocks into the river from a couple different heights. Overall, it was a great trip with the kids. If we would have had adults only, we would have done one of the more aggressive trips. One recommendation would be to wear water shoes and dry-fit clothes (or swim suits).
