When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.

After researching tour companies through Yelp and other review websites I settled on Rocky Mountain Rush because of their great reviews on Trip Advisor. Though we had to contend with a rainy day, RMR did a great job of showing us some of the highlights of the park. The park itself is absolutely breathtaking (separate review) and a need-to-see experience. The RMR vehicle (pretty much a really big Hummer) is spacious and very comfortable. Since it has the capacity to become an open air vehicle, it can get a little chilly inside. Comfy fleece blankets are provided. Our guide was fantastic - he seemed to know a lot about the park's history and was truly funny. Just a couple of things... not easy to make a reservation online. I sent three requests and eventually just had to call. It is virtually impossible for me to use a phone on my work days so I would have found online more convenient. A longer tour, even by just an hour or so would be great. The park is huge so don't get me wrong... I get why you can't see everything in a few hours. Besides the basic hummer tour, they also do downhill biking adventures and wine and cheese sunset tours. Their prices are on the moderate side ($50 pp). Overall, a good service!

Tours are relatively reasonably priced (though not cheap) for the entertainment and educational bits and bobs about the places you're taken to, but for the winter tours where your exposure to several areas of the park is limited, I do think they could knock off a few bucks. We had a bit of a mishap during my tour, where my phone was dropped and my battery tumbled off a bridge and down the side of the mountain. Our guide saved the day by literally sliding down the mountain to retrieve my battered - but still functional! - phone innards. Nevermind the details about how that happened (though I wonder if it'll make it into our guide's stories from here on out), but not having that battery would have really put a kink in the remainder of FH and I's trip to Colorado, so I was thankful, if a bit nervous, that he rescued it. We would love to come back in the summertime and take one of the off-road tours, and will definitely look up this company again if we find ourselves in Estes in warmer months.

The smiles were wide as we tore up the trails on a beautiful sunny day. The orientation was good and thorough without droning on unnecessarily, but still made all four of us feel confident and safe about operating the snowmobiles. The provided boots and helmets were in fantastic shape and were quite warm and comfortable. All of us opted for the one piece snow suits and were all glad that we did, they kept us super warm and dry all day. The trails are very well marked and even if you make a wrong turn it's really easy to figure out where you are and get back to where you were heading. The scenery around grand lake is just breathtaking. There were times when you just had to take your thumb off the throttle and simply take it all in. I can't recommend this adventure enough and I can't wait to come out and do it again! I also must mention how impressed with the staff of this location we all were. They were absolutely professional and funny and helpful. Even after getting one of the snowmobiles stuck they were incredibly nice and helpful with getting that sucker back on the track

No up-selling, no surprise, no breakdowns. This place is definitely worth the drive and I would give them more business in a heartbeat. Last time I came here prior to this year was two years ago. I was surprised to recognize some of the employees. To me, seeing familiar faces means that the business also treats their employees well, which translates into their great customer service.
