What an experience! This was my first time and I was very nervous, as was my teen as well. Kao was amazing and comforting. He would ask us what we were ok with and gave us a little bit of a history lesson down then river. Hands down a great experience!

I had wanted to try this for years, and we finally made it happen. We were a group of 17 people, and our organizers had chosen the intermediate rapids. I watched multiple YouTube videos and reached out to other friends who had rafted in California to prepare myself and quell my nerves. Overprepared, much? Once we arrived, I was immediately out at ease. We were issued wetsuits, helmets, and lifejackets. We all piled onto a bus and taken to our entry. Our guide Christoph was very knowledgeable and personable. He gave us the safety speech, some guidelines for possible emergency situations, and quizzed us on strokes before we even entered the cold water. He seemed to be a lead guide because there were several times we would pull over and wait for the other groups to ensure that we were all together. He gave commands clearly and we tackled the swells. And I'm proud to say that not a single one of our rafts had anyone capsize, have to swim, or need rescue! If you want to get EXTRA wet, make sure you are one of the two paddlers up front; conversely, if you want to stay "drier" (that word deserves quotations because you will get soaked), take up the back two spots. And a word of advice to anyone who wants warm feet: spare no expense and rent the shoes.

I've rafted with Liquid Descent multiple times, and every single trip has been a 5-star experience! The guides are not only experts at keeping you safe, but they also make sure you have an unforgettable time on the river. This year, I went early season on Clear Creek and loved it so much I came back late season for Gore Canyon- an adrenaline-packed, fun adventure! The day started with a swim test to make sure everyone was prepared before tackling Class V rapids. (Honestly, if you're not a strong swimmer, this trip isn't for you, they do test your swimming in the rapids and throughout the trip over half of the people across our 5 rafts ended up in the water at some point! Additionally this would be quite the dive into the deep end if you've never rafted before!) The trip was an incredible mix of thrills, skill, and crazy beautiful scenery you would not have guessed was there when you drive into Kremmling. Midway through, we stopped for snacks, and when we wrapped up, the crew served a delicious lunch and cold beers (NA options were there too!) such a nice touch after a big day! What sets Liquid Descent apart is the crew. Every guide I've had has been dedicated to making the trip special. I've talked to them and many of them have said they specifically choose to work here because of the company's extra training and the sense of community. I even met the owner yesterday at Gore Canyon, and you can tell the company's passion for customer experience comes directly from the top. Specifically the last 2 guides I've had, Jordan and Malia have been awesome! Yes, most rafting companies use the same put-in/take-out points and similar gear but the experience is what makes the difference. With Liquid Descent, the guides make sure it's the best it can be and their love for their job ensures you're going to have a great time. I've rafted with other companies in locations where liquid descent isnt and know: the right guide changes everything. If you're looking for an unforgettable rafting trip in Colorado, Liquid Descent is the company to go with!

My friend came to Colorado for a visit and was excited to go white water rafting. I hadn't done this before and was a bit nervous, but opted in. We decided to do the beginner level, with class II and III rapids. What an amazing time!!! Kyle, our guide, was fantastic! I appreciated how he broke up the instructions into three groupings: putting on gear, safety, and how to maneuver the raft. Mellisa, our driver, was super friendly. I can't wait to go back!

First time water rafting and it was an amazing experience. Our guide, Isabelle, was awesome and so fun to be with. She made sure to "innocently" get us as wet as possible for a beginner ride. I am so glad we signed up for this and highly recommend the photo package. They were so professional and fun to be with along the entire journey. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a great me

Andrew and Justin were great guides for our beginner's adventure on the Colorado River. They made everyone feel at ease and made sure we all had a great time. It was a stunning ride, and definitely easy for everyone. If you want a more challenging ride, they can do those as well.

My wife and I getting splashed with our rafting crew and guide Anjie in the pink helmet.

My boss recommended this place for our honeymoon. It was the highlight of the week! We had so much fun with our guide, Anjie! We did the beginner route. I was nervous at first, but I settled down when I saw how many kids were confidently getting on the rafts. Anjie told us we could go intermediate next time. This place will immediately help you feel welcomed, safe, and confident.

Amazing time! Our guide Christian was super friendly, explained everything well, and experienced. This was our first time rafting ever and was one of the most fun experiences we have ever had! Booking was easy, and nice that the gear was included with the price. We definitely would do this again and try intermediate tour!

Forward 2 Backward 2 Top 1! Like the flow of the river, this outdoor adventure company is so well-organized and fun! Six 50+ women who went to Colorado to adventure beyond our comfort levels ended their excursion with liquid descent. Christoph our guide was amazing. He navigated smooth, directed loud and clear and eased all our concerns. He even through in some fun history as we finished the River. I'm hooked! This is a definite must in your next time to Colorado.

What a great experience. Angie and the whole team at Liquid Descent are truly top notch. Highly recommend.

This was my first time out on the beginners run and it was truly so much fun. Alex was a great guide and prepared us well, while giving clear direction... always with a sense of humor. The rapids were a lot of fun and I felt great choosing one of the OG businesses to go with. You can tell the guides really love working here and have a lot of respect for the family that owns and operates Liquid Descent. If you've been debating this... go! I highly recommend purchasing photos too, if only to catch you possibly at your happiest. Can't wait to try the intermediate run next and remember to tip your guides!

Rafting!

Justin was our guide and the water was high! It was super fun and Justin told us exactly what to do! We've used this company twice and will use them again, highly recommended!

A truly great experience rafting! Our entire group of six had been rafting before and everyone had a blast! Our guide Izzy led a great tour full of excitement and fun rapids! She was super fun and knew the river and how to have the most fun! Gino was also super fun and got us out of a tricky spot! Had a great time and would 100% recommend to all skill levels! If you're from Iowa, ask for Izzy!

Ask the Community - Liquid Descent

Do you have to wear the wetsuit? I'm not a petite person and don't want to be embarrassed publicly. Also, If I do wear the wetsuit, can I wear something under it like shorts or leggings?

As the weather warms up during the summer wetsuits become optional. Typically if you come in June , we do require wetsuits as a safety protocol, but once we get into July, they’re usually optional. You can wear leggings under the wetsuit, bathing… Read more

The…read moreguided tour takes you deep into Colorado's gold mining history and really brings the story of the miners to life. We purchased our tickets on site at the tour location. Tours times fill up quickly and you can also book tours online. You start the tour by watching a video that gives you a history of the tunnel and mill. The Argo Mill and Tunnel became an international center of milling and tunneling innovation and served for many gold mines in Colorado. Construction of the Argo Tunnel began in 1893 and lasted 10 years until it reached Central City 4.2 miles away. The Argo Mill was a state of the art facility providing the latest technological advancements in milling and situated at the mouth of the mighty tunnel. On January 19th, 1943, a catastrophic flood in the tunnel caused the Argo Mill and Tunnel to cease operations. Then we loaded on a shuttle and took a short ride to the mouth of the Argo Tunnel. We start by picking up safety equipment including a helmet. Walking through the tunnel itself is like going back in time, it's cool, damp, and feels like stepping into another era. Then we moved to the Mill itself that had many original equipment items still on site. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting details about how the mine operated, the hardships miners faced, and how important the Argo was to Colorado's development. The guide explained each piece of machinery and the purpose along with an explanation for any missing equipment. You can tell he is passionate about preserving the history. The museum area is well done and adds great context after the tour. After the tour, perused the gift shop and got some great souvineers for 50% off! Highly recommend for families, visitors, or anyone looking to learn something new while exploring the mountains. It's a perfect stop if you're passing through Idaho Springs, especially if you enjoy history, geology, or unique local experiences.

Definitely would recommend swimwear or synthetic (not cotton) clothes and a change of dry clothes after like they mention! Too bad I forgot to read the email details ‍.I hope they send text message reminders about these details as well, it's easier to check texts rather than email on vacation. We went on the intermediate route which was a ton of fun. On this route they also gave the option of trying out some more rougher class 4s which were the most exciting parts. Would definitely recommend the intermediate route if you're looking for something more exciting! It was not nearly as difficult or stamina depleting as I expected. I believe the beginners route is more of a nice scenic cruise more than anything. 10/10 worth coming here P.S. Chris got mad jokes give this man a bonus lol!

He was a patient teacher while I got used to driving an ATV and he was a knowledgeable guide who taught us a lot about the mountains and the area. We did the two hour tour which was the perfect about of time to really go up the mountain. Any shorter and we wouldn't have gotten to see much. Any longer and my hands would have been in too much pain from gripping the throttle. I did end up with a slight blister on my palm that really only hurt in the last 15 min. I recommend that you bring gloves since they don't provide. You can't go wrong with this tour. Lots of fun!
