    Rafting down the river
    Alanna W.

Last Tuesday, my boyfriend and I took the Upper Colorado Rafting trip with Ben and had an amazing time. He gave great directions so we felt safe. On the bus ride to the place where we took the rafts out and throughout the time in the river, he gave us tons of funny stories and information about the areas we passed. We hope to return to CO again and do a rafting trip or winter excursion soon. We loved it!

We had an amazing time white water rafting with the crew at Mad! Our kids 6 and 9 had a blast! James our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny, and had a great spirit to him! He helped make the trip a very memorable one! Plus, the scenery was epic! Saw a black bear on the bus ride down and a bald eagle flying through the canyon and land in its nest. Cliff jumping was definitely the highlight! Thanks again for a great time!

We had a group of four moms, and six kids ages 5 to 8. You could call us "city folk", and we were excited, but a tad nervous about our river excursion out of Kremmling. Well, it ended up being the highlight of our vacation! We were on the river for about 2 hours, which was the perfect amount of time for the youngest. The rapids were exactly the right level for the whole family, and the kids loved the fact that they got to paddle. Our amazing guide, Elliott, was so kind and patient with the hundreds of questions our chatty kids and parents threw at him every other minute, and he gave great directions and narrative about the area we were rafting in. The booking process was easy, and when I called and spoke to Krista, she patiently and kindly asked every neurotic question I had. Kara was our bus tour guide on the way to the river, and her jokes and exposition rivaled the Disney Jungle Cruise (that's right, I said it). She was also amazing with all the kids. At one point, we stopped at a spot along the river that had the perfect depth and rock to jump off, and she offered to jump alongside a little girl who wanted to jump, but got nervous when the time came. Everyone was accommodating, safe, and patient. Biggest thanks to Elliott for making our trip so memorable! We'll be back- 10/10.

MAD Adventures gave us an awesome white water rafting experience. We brought our family for their first time and they had a blast. We loved our guide Emily! She was super knowledgeable & made the trip fun!

But Austin was our fearless rafting guide and part-time therapist--who calmed nerves, cracked jokes, and got us paddling in no time. From the very first splash, Austin made us feel safe and slightly more athletic than we actually are. He coached us through the twists and turns of the creek, and somehow convinced our teens that getting absolutely drenched and paddling for their lives was the best day ever. Miracles do exist. We glided through hidden stretches of the creek like pros (or at least like enthusiastic amateurs with great lighting), hollering with joy and soaking up every second of the adventure. Even the "hold on tight!" moments felt like a ride at a theme park--but with better views and less screaming. 10/10 would paddle again. If you're looking for an unforgettable family outing full of laughter, nature, and just the right amount of "we might flip but only if you don't do what Austin says", he's your guide. He's part guide, part hype man, and all-around river legend. Bring snacks or a picnic lunch for after an early morning trip, bring sunscreen (and put it on BEFORE you get a wetsuit. Rent shoes when you check-in ($5/person). Your family will thank you for this adventure (once they stop laughing and wringing out their socks).

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience…read more My wife booked a zipline reservation for me and our family while we were visiting Colorado from Massachusetts. We were busy getting ready for the day when she booked the zip line and she was unaware of my current weight, and the online booking process did not require participant weights before payment. When we arrived, I was weighed before the tour began and was informed that I exceeded the maximum weight limit and could not participate. It was clear to the acting manager that I was not aware of the weight limit. I completely understand and respect that the weight limit is in place for safety. What disappointed me was how my request was handled afterward. I asked if the company would consider a goodwill refund since I was turned away before the activity even began and that I was not aware of the policy. I was told that my request would be emailed to the owners and that I would receive a response within two days. No one ever contacted me. I followed up after waiting 5 days and at that time was told the owners were away for the week. When I contacted the company again, Acting Manager Brandon told me that the email requesting the owners' review that he said he sent while we were there had never actually been sent. He also informed me that, despite the email never being sent as promised, the company would still be following its policy and would not refund my payment. I understand businesses have policies, and I respected the safety decision without argument. My disappointment is with the lack of follow-through and customer service. I was promised a response that never came, had to repeatedly follow up myself, and ultimately received a denial after being told the owners had never even received the original request. No response from the owners as promised and when I had to call again I was told by Brandon that the owners would be sticking to their policy and I could dispute it with my credit card company if that is what I wanted to do. When I asked for an email so that I could contact the owners I was told that was not possible. If you're considering booking, make absolutely certain every participant meets all requirements before purchasing. The company weighs participants upon arrival, and if someone is over the limit, don't expect a refund--even if the activity never begins and you are visiting from out of state. I respect the need for safety rules. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the way this situation was handled. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of willingness to consider the individual circumstances. Customer service isn't just about enforcing policies--it's also about recognizing when an honest mistake has occurred and exercising reasonable discretion. Despite the circumstances, there appeared to be no meaningful review of the situation and no consideration of a one-time exception. We visit Colorado every couple years and we will make sure to choose another company when looking for an adventure.

When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

You can choose wet suits, dry jackets etc... It was 75 degrees in July here so our family split between wet suits and dry jackets. The latter was the better choice. You take a 30 minute school bus ride and some quick safety instructions (thanks Erico!) And then get assigned to your boat. Ours included 8 of us and a guide. Honestly that was too much but okay. Our guide was Tristan who was fantastic. Funny and engaging with fun facts along the way. But more importantly you could tell he was taking safety seriously. We did the browns canyon ride and it was a good mix of slightly challenging for the kids and fun for the adults. All in all it was a great way to spend half a day!

They have multiple locations and have similar and different activities that you can do at each location. When we arrived we walked in through the building on the right (it looks like a store), and checked in. After checking in, we had to wait for a bit until our guides were ready. Once they were, we went into the building to the left and received our gear. For the ziplining portion, our equipment was a harness and a helmet. *Each of the helmets has cute and/or funny names, definitely spend the time and look through the names. For example: They have an adult one that says: Potato and a child one that says: Little Tater Once we were all put on our equipment, our guides, Tim & Colleen, double-checked to make sure we each had our equipment on correctly and securely. Snug, but not too snug. After checking our equipment, Tim started to read a disclaimer and some rules to follow while we were up on the zipline. Heads up: - NOTHING IN YOUR POCKETS IS SAFE - If you have any glasses or hats, leave them in your car. Wear contacts if you have to, or put the little ropes that can be connected to your glasses to catch them in case they fall off your face. - There is a wooden board with hooks to hang your car keys. They assured us that hanging the keys there are safe. There is only one road, and anyone that tries to steal a vehicle won't get very far down the one road before a police officer stops them. :) You are ziplining on the cliffside of the mountain. If you do not have pockets that zip/button closed, don't put anything in them. If anything falls down the cliff, no one is going to go and get it. It's too dangerous. Personally, I had prepared and worn my contacts - but I will probably wear glasses with the ropes next time. We went in August, and it was still chilly in the mountains. Some of the ziplines go pretty fast, so my eyes would water. I had a jacket with zipper pockets, so I was the designated picture taker in my group. I was able to keep my phone safe by putting it in my zipper pocket. After going through safety and the disclaimer, we jumped onto the bed of a truck, clipped ourselves in, and road all the way up to the mountain. After you get off the truck, there is a narrow trail you have to take to get to the first platform. It is a dirt trail, and it's on the side of the mountain. Important... don't be stupid. :) I'm personally terrified of falling from tall heights, so I had to take my time and not look down to my right. It was fine, it wasn't dangerous. It's just one of my greatest fears. (Hence facing them by ziplining!) - E X P E R I E N C E - If you can request two guides... Request Tim & Colleen! It is very apparent how much they love their job. Tim was the main guide, he has been doing this job for a very long time. They both made the whole experience so much fun. Their excitement, personalities, and overall energy made this a very unique and memorable experience. They were silly and fun, while still making sure we all were and felt safe. We are hoping to come back and be able to ask for both of them again. :) - P A R K I N G - They have plenty of parking spaces in their lot, the parking is a bit rough though - so be careful when driving in and out of the parking lot. - O V E R A L L - We all had a great experience, Colleen & Tim We had 5 people in our group, two of us had ziplined before, and three of us were doing it for the first time. It was an absolutely amazing time and I can't wait to do it again.
