Informative and authentic tour for kids and adults. Focus is on the history and experience of the original miners. The guide (Dave) was terrific - great at explaining and involving everyone at all ages.

If you're near the Denver area and looking for something to do just a tad bit outside of town looking into this place. Hidee (pronounced Hai Dee) gold mine is a still active site. I do like that there is still interesting things like this and not just a bag filled of fools gold you pan at fairs and parks. We were lucky to have the Manager Roy give us the tour. Learning about the history of mining and the equipment used. Seeing 1st hand what miners in the day went through to even having hands on chipping away at our own souvenirs. I was the bigger guy in our group so they put me to work and I was winded after but got some nice size chucks of rock with nice lines of gold silver etc. It's a little damp inside the mine and a steady cool temp in the 40s so wear semi warm clothes and shoes as it will be a little muddy. There are benches inside if you need to rest. You are at a high elevation 8000ft+ At the end of our tour we got to learn about panning for gold. We stayed a bit longer than others and had great conversations with the other works as well. All very informative and all have their own techniques and secrets of course. If you're highly interested in panning etc. Stay talk to them and ask away. We were there for a few hrs and boy does time fly. Everyone one of the guys there had a panning technique we tried and all were great. Patience is key really, I was about to give up till I was shown the other techniques. When we were leaving another group I seen stating to pan weren't patient and were bagging the sand and all lol. Yes you pan and keep what you find. You probably won't find big nuggets like on Discoverys show Gold Rush. You'll have mixed items inside and probably worth only a few coins but still fun. Get out there and enjoy!

We had a great time learning all about the mining of gold! Chris, our guide, was very knowledgeable and informative. If you are ever in the area, it is a must do!

I was on vacation in Denver for a few days to see the San Francisco Giants play the Colorado Rockies. We had some time on our hands so decided to rent a car for the day and on the way to Vail Colorado stopped at the Goldmine. The tour guide was extremely informative and quite fun. The gold mine itself was quite interesting. I highly recommend for adults and for children as well.

This place was amazing. Haven't been to any other mine tours so I can't compare. Our guide was friendly, informative, funny. He took the time to make sure everyone knew what he was sharing and answered every question. The history of the area was great to hear. I high recommend this place and tbis team.

The railbikes were easy to use and surprisingly smooth. We pedaled through quiet farmland and open skies--it was beautiful and relaxing. But heads up: if you're going as a couple, it's a bit of a workout! We definitely recommend going with four people if possible to share the pedaling. It makes the whole ride a lot more chill and fun. It is said that they unveil a brand new theme each year and this year's theme appears to be focused on some Eastern cultures such as cherry blossom and bamboo forest with pandas. Not that I have been to many lights shows and yet I must say that I have never seen anything quite like this as far as my recollection is accurate. In its 12-acre land, the installations of lantern lights are everywhere. After 8:30pm or so when it's dark, the illuminations from the lanterns are glowing brighter than Las Vegas' illuminations (LOL - why am I comparing this to Las Vegas!!) According to the park's website, some of the sculptures are 23-foot tall (such as the cherry blossom gate.) It's currently open from Wednesday through Sunday until October 5th. And last night's was one of the adult-only nights where you must be 21+ to enter (I believe the next and last such night is Sept 17th. And this writing is as of late August of 2025.) I am already curious as to what the next year's theme is going to be. There is a centralized bar, some food vendors, a stage where a performer performs, and a DJ booth. Great for family time, girls' night or date night. Helpful staff were working tirelessly to assist all visitors. Although about 1,300 tickets were sold last night, it was never super jammed packed. There is still time to visit this enchanting light show. Not only for the locals but definitely one of the must-visit attractions for out-of-staters as well.

Tours times fill up quickly and you can also book tours online. You start the tour by watching a video that gives you a history of the tunnel and mill. The Argo Mill and Tunnel became an international center of milling and tunneling innovation and served for many gold mines in Colorado. Construction of the Argo Tunnel began in 1893 and lasted 10 years until it reached Central City 4.2 miles away. The Argo Mill was a state of the art facility providing the latest technological advancements in milling and situated at the mouth of the mighty tunnel. On January 19th, 1943, a catastrophic flood in the tunnel caused the Argo Mill and Tunnel to cease operations. Then we loaded on a shuttle and took a short ride to the mouth of the Argo Tunnel. We start by picking up safety equipment including a helmet. Walking through the tunnel itself is like going back in time, it's cool, damp, and feels like stepping into another era. Then we moved to the Mill itself that had many original equipment items still on site. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and shared so many interesting details about how the mine operated, the hardships miners faced, and how important the Argo was to Colorado's development. The guide explained each piece of machinery and the purpose along with an explanation for any missing equipment. You can tell he is passionate about preserving the history. The museum area is well done and adds great context after the tour. After the tour, perused the gift shop and got some great souvineers for 50% off! Highly recommend for families, visitors, or anyone looking to learn something new while exploring the mountains. Reasons Blue Lantern Ghost Tours was a terrible experience:…read more 1.Misleading or false website information: Below I will be using quotes from the website. "Do we actually go underground? Yes! We go down into basements of restaurants and bars, where we typically see the creepiest parts of our tour." Actually we went into 1 lower level area of the Oxford. I guess you could consider it a basement. "Do we go inside any buildings? Yes, we will go inside 3-4 buildings." Wrong. Not including Union Station, which served simply as a meeting location, we went inside of one building. The Oxford. If I had know this, I would not have taken this tour, being that it was about 8 degrees outside. "On this 1 1/2 hour walking ghost tour, you'll experience stops such as: Crawford Hotel. Here we will encounter the legends and tales of ghostly spirits who frighten guests and sometimes come out of the shadows. Delaney's Pub. Down below Denver's bustling cigar bar a determined ghost still frightens workers and refuses to leave. Blake Street Vault. We take you underground to the original bank vault where employees still leave offerings for their resident ghost. Oxford Hotel. Perhaps Denver's most legendary haunted location. We roam the halls to hear stories of historic hotel guests, a haunted lounge fashioned after a famous cruise ship and beware of the odd happenings in the underground restrooms. Union Station. The iconic landmark of Denver recently received a total renovation making it one of the most beautiful train stations in the country, but the renovations also revealed the station's hidden past, full of unsolved murders, untimely deaths and even a persistent "three-fingered hobo." We never stopped at Delaney's Pub. I never heard anything about a three fingered hobo. The only stories I heard about Union Station was a dark shadow in the attic, a ghost soldier, and an "evil steam engine". After the tour, I asked a union station guard about the hauntings. He informed me that some guards have seen a ghost soldier in WW2 garb. But I was having my leg pulled about everything else. 2. There tour guide was subpar: Our tour guide's name was Sarah. She couldn't seem to get the stories straight. She also had the vocabulary and patter of a 13 year old girl, using crutch words such as "UM", "Like", "You know" and "Whatever" far too often. I'm not trying to be cruel, I just think that for 27 dollars, the tour guide could have been a little more professional. 3. The tour was so bad that people kept hanging behind and sneaking off. By the end of the tour we had lost a little less than half of the tour group.
