There's no water feature here but we had stunning mountain views all around us and lots of shade. It was in the upper 80s but the temperature here (at 6000 ft elevation) was not overwhelmingly hot. Sites are not close to each other and we scored on a corner spot complete with trees, a fire ring, picnic table and a doggie doo station. We had a ton of space! There's a dog run and two Kamp K9s; one is shaded and one is not. There's a short nature trail my dogs were enthusiastic about too. They were very happy here! The hardest thing for them was that even the driving paths were covered in rocks... they got sore paws trying to be nosy. My husband said this location has the absolute easiest and best wifi to connect to of all the KOAs we have visited. We enjoyed this one so much we stayed until checkout time just like we did at the Newton Iowa KOA. Pros: - a few miles off the highway; very quiet - lots of trees and beautiful views - very dog friendly; lots of poo stations - lots of amenities (game room, disc golf, pool, basketball, playground, volleyball court, etc) - lots of picnic tables - no codes for restrooms - huge shower stalls in the Women's Restroom (best showers so far!) - can do dishes in the laundry room or large sink outside - able to have two vehicles (only one at most locations, great for off-roading) Cons: - hard to navigate ourselves to our site (even the driving paths are covered in rocks) - not many trash cans around (but it's picturesque without em)

The Beaver river runs right in the campground, with an accessible area, completed with a park bench to sit on. There is also a group fire pit.

I came back to the site and noticed that a box with two cans of bear spray, a hatchet, a rubber mallet, and more was stolen. It was probably $200 worth of supplies. I talked to the camp hosts to see if they saw anything, but one was totally avoiding me and the other seemed dumbfounded. Neither asked if I wanted to file a report. The dumbfounded one said, "I did not even know there was such a thing as bear spray." To me, both were weird and evasive interactions. I had stayed here previously two years ago but would not trust to stay here again. I canceled my return reservation on 09/21/24 and am losing my $33 payment.

The camp site had decent shade and grass area to put your tent on. There were a couple picnic tables for use as well. There are free-roaming peacocks that are beautiful but are definitely loud in the morning! We went in July which is really hot for the hot springs, but it was nice since it wasn't busy! We had our soak time from 8-10pm which was great to view the sunset and soak while the air cooled off. It's such a unique hot spring location with bathtubs and larger pools. The owner walked around and made sure everyone was comfortable and was super friendly. I liked that they weren't sulfur hot springs so you didn't stink after! The negative reviews here seem like they didn't read the website that explained what to expect. I appreciate the websites honesty in keeping this location rustic and authentic, while acknowledging there are things they could improve. Knowing you're not going to a five-star location would be beneficial. The small business aspect played a huge role, in having great hospitality and a very friendly atmosphere. We stayed at the North campground for three nights and then the overflow area for two. There are a few other camping areas as well, there is a south, and then at least two or three additional camping areas near by. I found them all when I got lost hiking around. The camp spots are not all created equal, some a far better then others, and without knowing the area first, you can't possibly know if your getting a quality spot. We reserved a space before we left. When we got there, we found that the place that we had reserved, did not have a flat space for a table next to the RV spot, we would have to hike up and down a little hill to get to a table every time we wanted anything. It just didn't work for our style of camping this time around. We spoke to the camps hosts and they let us switch spots to another open one with no problem. The next plot fit our requirements much better. Although its good to know that not all spots have a water spicket. Each lot does have a fire pit area with a flip style sort of grill, but no BBQ's. There are bathrooms, just toilets, the hand sinks don't work because they say they are trying to conserve water (although I just found that really odd, because I would just go to the spicket and wash my hands). The bathrooms are clean, and well maintained. Also, the lake was not very yielding. You had to throw back anything under 17", which was everything that was caught by my group. All in all, it was a fun, quiet place to go and I would recommend it to any outdoor lover. Next time I go, I will be tent camping and I will probably stay at the South campsite for that.

We stayed at Bear Valley twice while traveling between Idaho and Arizona. The first stay was great…read more The facilities are clean and area is quiet. Our second stay was a disaster. Our dog, while on leash per the rules, was attacked by another camper's dog which was off leash and suffered bites. I reported the incident to the front desk. They gave us info on vets, but all were closed and none of the emergency numbers returned our calls. What was disappointing is that the front desk folks didn't seem the least bit concerned this happened and there were apparently no consequences for the camper whose dog attacked ours. I went out later that evening to take trash out and the camper had music going, was grilling, and his dog was outside off leash barking, like nothing even happened. Many campgrounds have zero tolerance pet policies. At Point of Rocks in Prescott, he would have been asked to pack up and leave. But not at Bear Valley. No accountability. No ownership. No consequences. So while we traveled over two hours out of our way, incurred as hefty pet bill and then traveled five plus hours home, this camper enjoyed his time at Bear Valley. So no thanks. I'll take my chances camping on the side of the road.

This was actually our 1st time in a KOA and so happy we chose this one and this town! The town is a 1 traffic light town, small and down-home, the campground is just a few blocks from the downtown center and the entire campground was ready for tents, trailers, diesel pushers and even cabins that they rent. Pool and dog park were our 2 main choices for the stop, an awesome lake about 10 minutes outside of town for fishing, a great small town restaurant "Cowboy's Smokehouse" a couple of minutes away, antique shopping for those into that, just an overall perfect location in the heart of Americana! Sites are interesting in that they are "buddy sites" they door to door your campsite side to the next trailer, we loved it because we met the people next door much quicker that way. Also met everyone around us who were having a major cornhole tournament while we were there, they were fun, very open and great neighbors. I honestly was a little worried about the noise but that squad shut it down at 9pm and were quiet as a mouse, not that we really cared but their game was pretty intense for a while! Walked around and met a lot of the other people in the camp, a few full-timers and a few nightly space renters like us, really great ownership in a clean and nicely run camp.
