Having driving pass One Aum many times, I finally decided to call and schedule a Thai Massage. I was very impressed with the massage and after seeing all that One Aum had to offer; I decided I wanted to try Pilates. For sometime, my body had been telling me that it needed to stretch rather than just engage in aerobic exercise, so I finally started to listen to it. The Pilate Reformers looked very intriguing and I figured that would be a good way to begin a stretching regimen!! This is when I meet Sean. Sean will work with you and your body in a patient, professional and knowledgeable manner. He will design a program around you and your body's physical and spiritual needs. I value the privacy and individual attention that Sean provides. He has a sincere desire for his client to be able to master the exercise on the reformer as well as making sure that the client understands the mind body connection. As a result of my time with Sean and One Aum, I am much firmer and slimmer now. I feel stronger and have gotten to know and understand my body better. this is a fantastic place to do yoga and i have trained at several places in both MD and VA. Shannon has a wealth of experience. i recently did a workshop she led and there were 7 of us in the workshop. 4 of them were teachers who came to just learn from her. that says a great deal. the classes are small (anywhere from 2-10 so far). the teachers actually watch what you do and provide specific attention to make your postures do what they are supposed to do. The teachers do not view these classes as an opportunity to get their work outs done or as a place to show off their skills. they are totally dedicated to improving your practice!!! this is the first time in my yoga experience, teachers have instructed which bones and muscles rotate in which direction. this is the first yoga studio i have been that also truly links the postures to the breathing. the school is run by Shannon and assisted by Sean, - both are super teachers. so far they have been teaching most of the classes. all of the other teachers she uses have all been trained under her, so there is uniformity in the teaching method and goals. this is the best yoga studio i have ever been to!!!!! it is a super place to learn and grow in yoga and life david berman md read more

One Aum has been an amazing find and has had a positive affect on my life. I found them by way of a Groupon almost 6 months thus ago and have been a regular customer ever since. I have suffered with a bad back and a lack of flexibility for years. I was not able to come close to touching my toes even though I was not over weight. Working with a Chiropractor helped briefly but did not begin to solve the problem. I thought maybe a Thai massage would help. That's where I met Sean. He not only gave me an amazing message but explained to me what was happening with my body and how I could fix myself. Over the past several months he has taught me Yoga poses, done Pilates and continued the Thai messages. I have tremendous results. I not only can touch my toes but am working on putting my palms on the floor. This is a wonderful studio full of wonderful teachers. I had posted a review before Christmas, but it mysteriously was taken down - makes me wonder if the local competition is getting worried by just how great this studio is. There are a wide range of classes to suit just about every need and skill level - as well as the option to take private classes. Shannon and all the teachers are warm, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable about what works for you - no matter what your needs may be. I have been recovering from serious injury, so started with private sessions with Shannon. I credit her with bringing me back to a level of function that I never would have believed possible - and she did it with warmth, patience and insight, employing her considerable knowledge to ensure that I never overdid or risked re-injury. I've been a client at One Aum for almost 6 months now, working with Sean 2-3 times a week to correct posture, increase strength and increase flexibility. I am extremely happy with the results so far and will continue as long as i possibly can with the semi private sessions. Sean is a master at what he teaches, his inside out approach to fitness is marked by his astute observations of those subtle nuances in how we carry ourselves in our bodies and how to strengthen those muscles that have long been forgotten and that most gym equipment will never get to. He pays attention to the whole person and challenges accordingly. I purchased a Groupon for a Thai massage that was close to home and reasonably priced. The massage was with Sean and one of the best I've had. More important than the massage (although I continue to get them) was that I was introduced to Pilates. I had seen the machines as I was leaving and asked about them. He explained the benefits of Pilates, so I took a chance with private lessons. A year and a half later I'm still enjoying it. Sean is an excellent teacher, knowing when to push harder and when to modify the exercise to something that is beneficial but within my realm of comfort. My shoulders and neck no longer carry the tension that they once did and I am now using my core muscles more than I ever have. It is an ongoing pleasure to participate in Rosemary's yoga sessions at One Aum for the past few months. Although yoga and its terms are new to me, Rosemary displays her rare opportunity to make me comfortable in asking about and learning yoga positions. Rosemary balances her impeccable knowledge of this art with the types of poses of my needs. She observes so well the breathing, the muscles working, the areas of visible tension and the posture. I have been coming to One Aum for several years, as have several members of my family. My wife and I are going to One Aum on a regular basis for Thai Massages as well as Yoga and Pilates lessons. They excel in all three categories! I went through three different doctors, physicians and chiropractors to get rid of an arm problem, but they were not able to treat me effectively. With only two Thai Massage sessions with Sean my symptoms went away. Since then I am going on a regular basis in order to prevent future problems. We have added Yoga and Pilates sessions to address our bodies holistically, which One Aum is the perfect place to do so. the BEST place for wholistic healing. Sean has worked with me to help with chronic pain I was having in my shoulder. His knowledge of the body/anatomy is incredible and was able to identify what was going on. His approach to using the Pilates machine to target muscles that need to get "turned on" correctly and then moving that into my Yoga practice has been so helpful. Bottom line is he helps people with some joint/muscle issues stop doing things that over time will cause issues, and get the whole mind/body moving together. Thanks Sean!! Before One Aum opened, I took a class with Shannon, and knew that I wanted to continue studying with her. In yoga class, the adjustments and suggestions she gave me were eye-opening. I checked out One Aum after rave reviews from a couple of friends and could not be happier that I finally did! I went in looking for some general stress relief and to work through some pain from a lower leg injury as well as some relief for my TMJ issues. Sean's massage technique was a productive blend of strength and a soothing touch that I have sometimes had difficulty finding in the past at other places. THE BEST massage!!! Ann is by far the BEST!!! I'm getting massages on a regular basis for years. The place is very clean and calm. Ann is very professional, nice and know what she is doing. Although it's about 30 minutes drive for me it is well worth the drive. Every time I walk out of there I feel like a new person. I know for sure that when I'm coming in with an issue Ann will focus and work on it. She also makes suggestions as to how better maintain the body and do stretching at home. read more

One Aum has been my Pilates and Thai massage home for the past 2 years. I had to have surgery on my knee and Sean FM, worked with me prior and post surgery to help me have the best recovery possible.
