This was the weirdest massage experience. I was gifted a massage here and booked an appointment a few days in advance. They seemed to have loads of appointments available. I don't know any of the therapists so I let the system choose mine for me. I arrived 15 mins before my appointment time as most places want you to chill out with a cup of tea and some relaxing music before your massage. No dice. The (kinda rundown) building has a janky call box to let you in and you can't hear I'd and when someone answers to buzz you in. Another person came in with me and told me how creepy the building was - the floor she got off on was barely half lit. I get to the floor of the place and it was stinky and dimly lit too. I find the door - it's locked - and I knock. No one is there. It's late morning not first thing in the day. So I call the place and a guy answers but sounds like I bothered him - tells me that he's working remotely and will call my therapist. Then calls me to tell me she's in her way. She arrives just after when my appointment was to start. So now I'm a bit worked up but also weirdly nervous because the whole thing was so off putting. Therapist was curt and arrived with a child. I nearly changed my mind and left but decided to stay went with it. Since no one was there nothing was prepared. Cold table - warmer not on. No music, no ambiance. No offer of a drink before. Just a lot of turning on computers and lights. I don't want to be there for that when I'm there for pure relaxation. The massage itself was decidedly fine. Not terrible but definitely not the best I've experienced by any measure. It was matter of fact with no consultation really. Just business and done. I wasn't impressed. This isn't the experience I'd ever want someone else to spend their hard earned money on for some relaxation. There are comparably priced places where you'd get the full experience of a spa relaxation. Go there. read more

Booked a massage for a Friday and got extra lost getting there so 8730 is the door right next to M&T building on Georgia Ave. The street parking is hard to come by near here but if you can get it, a lot of it is 1 hour only. I parked in a paid lot behind the M&T Building - cash only. And it was right by the entrance to the building. The suite is beautifully appointed and relaxing and even on Georgia Ave the noise is minimal. They don't have a weird loop on the music that jolts me from my relaxation nor do they play nothing but white noise, it's a perfect relaxation blend though I can't say I remember any one song standing out, which in my mind is how it should be. They also have beautiful water features, perfect lighting and comfortable tables. The customer service was awesome, from the communications and directions to the place to the AHMAZING massage. I felt like I was with a chiropractor or physiotherapist. Which I have and use both but these knots needed some pressure work! I got it! It was AWESOME. Ciara was amazing! 10/10 read more

I went to Fresh Start for the first time this week. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage and it was unreal. Ciara did an amazing job getting knots out of not only my shoulders but also my neck which I didn't know was a thing. 90 minutes went by far too quickly and for the first time in a loooong time I didn't feel any tension in my body. Following the massage, they have a cute little room where you can sit and drink or water or tea and listen to a fountain. It was such a relaxing space. I cannot wait to go back! I had an hour-long Swedish massage with Lin. She is attentive to client needs and feedback. I first saw her when I was seriously stiff after a few long days on my feet; my knees and hips were especially painful. Lin organized a perfect session with good flow to address my joint pain with some wonderful stretches I had never experienced before while also spending adequate time on my back and shoulders, which I wanted to relax. Amazing massage with Lin! A friend of mine sent me a gift certificate for the holidays so I didn't know what to expect (just in town for a visit.) I got a 90 minute deep tissue massage which was excellent. Lin was attentive and focused on the areas I had pain. She checked in multiple times to make sure everything was going well. Booked online for two Swedish massages for myself and my BF's Mom, who is in great shape but also elderly. They accommodated us same day. Upon our (early) arrival they greeted us and we were in our rooms within 2-3 minutes, almost no wait. The space was very clean and quiet, with soothing music playing during the massage. A nice and appreciated touch was the heated massage tables! We both thought our respective masseuses provided high quality massages and are skilled at their craft. My massage was with Lawrence. He used the full hour (maybe even a few extra minutes), applied the perfect amount of pressure, and did some extra concentration on my lower back which I had mentioned had a dull ache. BF's Mom had a massage with Tasha and her feedback was she also felt perfect amount of pressure with no pain at all (I get worried because of her age), and she felt "super relaxed" after :). Overall a very enjoyable experience and I will definitely return. One thing to note: the studio is located in a secure building (good) that you have to be buzzed into. Not going to lie the outside system is pretty confusing it seems as if nothing works. There were two equally confused people waiting before us. After seeing the 2 ppl's attempts I tried hitting the suite number of the massage studio with no result, so I ended up just hitting a button marked A and the Call button and someone buzzed us in, much thanks to whoever that was lol. I'm sure this can be solved by a phone call to the massage studio upon arrival - just giving a heads up. read more

Even if you sign up for a specific massage, I think all of the massage therapist have the skill set to adjust the massage during the appointment (in real time) based off of their own professional assessment of what they feel is going on with your muscles and your body. This place is a hidden gem. The office space is clean and calm, appointments run on time, and Lawrence is a wizard at finding knots and undoing them with a combination of massage techniques and stretches. This is deep tissue work, so not all of it is comfortable in the moment, but unlocking all the tight spots is worth the need for some yoga breathing (and Lawrence is great at adjusting pressure to keep the body from reacting with yet more tension). I haven't tried the CBD lotion add-on, because I usually leave feeling pretty zoned out just on the endorphins. Treat yourself! read more
