I felt worse after my massage than before, and the woman hurt my back by using her elbows and hitting me on my back. The female massage therapists do not speak English, therefore no communication was possible. When I was in pain she was laughing but I couldn't figure how to tell her to stop or anticipate what she might do next. You would think that they would at least know the main terms like pain, stop, etc. I came with a sore neck and left with a much deeper pain in my lower back still 2 days later, and I've had to miss work because of it. read more

We came here for a couple's massage (which lasts an hour) and had a great experience. Our massage therapists were Yuyu and Mia. Both were very thorough and detailed and left us feeling really restored, glowy, and refreshed! It might have been even better if they had verbally checked in to ask us about pressure level throughout the hour, since some parts were a bit too intense on harder pressure. I had an outstanding/amazing massage today from a highly skilled male therapist, but I had an odd/uncomfortable experience with the female receptionist, manager/owner, or whoever was in the front. After I tipped the male therapist immediately after my massage while still inside the massage room, I walked to the front and told the female receptionist/manager that I had already tipped the therapist. She then told me that I was not supposed to tip the therapist outside of her presence and had to do so at the register. I asked why, and she said it's a "business rule". I then asked her, did the therapist tell you that I had already tipped, and she said yes. In response, I told her that if you expect customers to hand over tips to the therapist in your presence/at the register then you should have told me beforehand. Please note, I had prepaid for a 60 minute massage at the register and told her that I would be tipping the therapist in cash, and there was no signage stating that tipping must be done at the register. In any event, I have never had such an experience before, especially since the female receptionist/manager had already been made aware by the therapist that I had already tipped. As background, I get massages regularly back home (I'm visiting here) and generously tip the therapists in cash, and I always insist on handing the cash directly to the therapist as a sign of my respect and gratitude. I believe the therapist should receive 100% of that tip for their skill, hard work, and personal service. Since the female receptionist or possible manager/owner already knew that I had tipped the male therapist and there was no apparent issue about the tip amount (nor could there be given how I tip), I don't understand why she would insist that a tip (which is legally non-mandatory) be done in her presence, at the cash register. read more

Stumbled upon 7 Days Spa and told them my sob story. Jessica (receptionist) suggested 90 min massage and cupping. Lemme tell you JACK Jack Jack absolutely worked miracles! In 90 mins he massaged, slapped, kneaded and beat the devil outta me! Best massage ever and I am pain-free 1st time in 6 days!!! The cupping experience was new to me and a little shocking (due to heat & suction sounds) but I figured it was worth the try and I'm glad I did. Highly recommend this place. I have been going to this spa for almost 7 years now. I used to work a few blocks away so it was convenient, but there is a reason why I still go there, even though I work in Fairfax, VA now. To echo another review I read here, it is a no-frills place that provides you with EXACTLY why most of us go to get a massage - to relax and to get the kinks and aches worked out from our muscles. This spa is CLEAN and they do this at the most REASONABLE of PRICES and they do it CONSISTENTLY. I have gotten massages at some very upscale places for double the price and have been disappointed that my body does not feel the way it feels after a massage at 7 Day Spa. My body always feels still and quiet each time I leave here. And I know it's because I no longer feel the aches and pains I was feeling when I walked in. The people who work here are also so nice and welcoming! Jessica is the the warmest and sweetest person ever to greet me at a massage place (and is also the most amazing therapist, herself!). And Jack, who has been my therapist for years, is the BOMB. He, somehow, intuitively knows exactly what to focus on every time I come in. I have never had a bad massage here. Great, no frills massage studio. I'm in town every couple of months and make it a point to stop and get a massage here every time. I get massages very often and this place consistently has great therapists and for a very fair price. I need very firm pressure, good technique and have a lot of neck and shoulder tension issues and Jack is my favorite!! Coco is also great. This place really disappointed me since my first time was great. so I brought my boyfriend along this time to get a couples massage and I was bragging how awesome my first experience was! We called ahead and booked an appointment for 1:30 pm. We arrived on time and the front desk lady asked if we wanted seperated or same room. I said same as I also did before we showed up when they asked. We got there and she said the same room was not available yet we would have to wait 30 mins. I said ok that's fine. Then she said "we'll 30 min is so long come in here and get a foot massage 30 min then room will be available" I'm like ok cool. So we did. 30 mins pass and she comes back in there and says "room still not available let's do 30 more mins, 1 hour foot 1 hour massage" at this point im frustrated because what ??? Then after an hour after the foot massages we go back and do the 1 hour couples massage. The massage was not that great me and my boyfriends backs are still in pain. When we get done I'm like I'm wondering if they charged us for those foot massages since that's not even what I came here for ??? I expected to pay $220. $110 per person for a 90 minute couples massage is what I booked. When we get the receipt she says it's $285. At this point I'm furious ! Plus they stood over me while filling out the receipt to see how much of a tip I was leaving. I wouldn't recommend this place. I felt scammed and you may not get what you book !!!! I have been coming to this spa for years and it is the best in the area for value. I recently had another massage and it was so great, I felt compelled to write a review. My two recent favorites have been Jack and Emily, but everyone is good. I cannot recall the manager's name, but she is also wonderful. As others have said, it's no frills, but it is very clean and comfortable and the massage quality is incredible. I had to call someone who speaks English (the office manager/receptionist) a couple of times to translate. Very disruptive. I wonder how they get certified in the US without knowing English. No one bothered to ask me before the session if I had any pain or had surgery, which seemed unprofessional. Some of the music they played was fast and loud- not relaxing at all. Had a great experience here. I have major sciatic pain issues and desperately needed a massage. I asked for someone who gives a strong massage and my masseuse, John? (but maybe it was Jack based on other reviews) delivered on that. Super strong hands without veering into being too painful. It was $70/hour which is pretty affordable for the area. It was so good he asked me if I wanted more time and he added 15 more mins. If I didn't have somewhere to be after I would've just asked him to give me another hour. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that the rooms are not fully enclosed, they're open at the ceilings so you can really hear everyone else which is generally ok but there was one guy who was super chatty with his masseuse next door so that took away from the experience. But this is an affordable no frills great massage place so I'll definitely be back. They also do cupping and gua sha so I'd be down to try that next time I'm sick. read more

The massage is fine, good even for the price of $70. My 2 star rating is due to the fact that none of the massage therapists washed their hands. While I was being massaged, I heard the therapist from the next room finish one massage, walk straight into another room, and begin another massage without washing his hands. His voice was quite distinctive and I could hear him thank the first client and then immediately greet the second client. When I was done, my massage therapist went to the bathroom (I also had to go so I waited outside), she flushed and did not wash her hands, and went straight into another room to begin another massage. She did a brief facial massage on me and I suddenly realized she probably touched my face without washing her hands. I found it quite gross and went home immediately to shower and wash my face. I'm not really a big germaphobe, so for me to be grossed out is a big deal. Other than this, the massage itself was fine but I won't be going back. read more

What a fantastic little gem!! They give GREAT massages, and because the price is reasonable, I now get massages more often than I would at other places. In addition, I have always been able to get a day-of appointment! So, having a rough day? Got tension? Go! Now I treat myself to a massage and feel ahhhmazing afterwards! I have had both hot stone and regular, with several different masseuses, and all have been excellent. Do not expect this to be a lavish experience - it is very clean and peaceful, but the walls do not go all the way up. This is what I prefer, though. If you want to pay an extra $200 for a massage that is unlikely to be as high-quality, there are plenty of fancy-schmancy hotel spas you can visit in DC. I am super grateful to have found this place in Bethesda - I hope they are here for decades and never change! read more

Main reason for the two star review- the lady at the front desk asked for more money for a tip, which to me is one of the rudest things a business owner can do. This was after an unpleasant massage. Be happy with what I gave you. In case she doesn't know, tips are not mandatory and are given for good service. This massage sucked. I sprained my ankle and needed a massage to relieve the inflammation and soreness. The masseuse didn't focus on where the pain was at all. Instead, she used pressure point reflexology, which I specifically asked her not to do. The massage hurt! Four days later and my right foot still hurts. She did give me a nice facial massage, I will give her that. I don't think she spoke English that well for what it's worth, maybe she didn't understand me. I leave and pay at the front desk, a different lady from the one who gave me the massage was stationed there. $60 for an hour massage, so I give her $65. Her response was, "20% would be better." So rude. I didn't feel like arguing so I gave her another five bucks and left. Won't be coming back here, I don't recommend you do either. read more

First time writing a review! I am so very pleased with how my deep tissue massage turned out. I am a petite female so whenever I ask for a deep tissue massage and ask for the massager Jack for very deep pressure at times it's a hit or miss because they don't realize when say deep pressure and hard l actually do mean it regardless of what l look like. A genuinely excellent place. I don't know Jack, but Jessica, Annie, Tina, and Helen are wonderful, the best in the area at any price and cheaper, sometimes considerably so, than anywhere comparable. If you find yourself with a choice of therapists, Jessica's Tui Na firm pressure point technique is great at releasing tensions one didn't even realize one was holding, while Tina is better at hypnotic rhythms that make one's muscles being loosened more of a meditative experience. I have found myself with Annie most often; I teach dance and thus really appreciate the degree to which her movements are holistic. By grounding her strokes and turning small movements at the point of her hand into integrated whole body movements, incorporating larger muscles, she makes her technique smooth and powerful without reducing her sensitivity to knots and such. Obviously, all competent therapists do this to some extent, but with Annie one can really feel it, such that a massage can feel like one is watching a recital but with tactile rather than visual perception. (Sorry, this was long but I feel like I'm not being good at explaining the phenomenon, so approached it from a couple of angles). Annie's skill is helpful for any massage, but has additional relevance when there are two therapists. 7 Days' prices mean that when I am particularly in need of restoring flexibility this is an appealing option. So far, I've seen Annie and Jessica and Annie and Tina. In both cases, my perception was that they choreographed their movements exceptionally well, meaning that there is considerable synergy; perhaps one will draw attention to a point or engage in repetitive movements that cause you to disengage a little while the other does something less comfortable that benefits from you being relaxed and not focused on the pressure. Perhaps they will both engage in different tasks at different points on the body, then finish at the same time and engage in simultaneous effleurage, magnifying its impact. When a therapist leaves to get a hot towel, hot stone, or some such (which they are always highly efficient at; so quick that one does not lose one's place even with a single therapist), the other will do something particularly interesting, perhaps a novel stretch, or maintain the most impactful activity, either way meaning that the break does not feel like a break at all. Again, my words do not do the coordination justice, but the upbeat, professional relationship maintained between therapists, the high degree of focus, the coordination, and the individual talent make this an experience that substantially deepens the effect of the massage rather than the gimmick that it can seem like in lesser hands (which is to say, pretty much all hands I have known). I should also note Jessica's charm at the front of house. She sets a joyful, welcoming, and wholesome tone for the establishment, with the therapists having the feel of family or friends to each other. Along with, on the days when I want to talk, Annie's convivial, insightful conversations and a decor that is neither uncomfortably utilitarian nor gimmicky, I can rely on my interaction with the spa being a part of my day that will be pleasant and cheering, even aside from the massage itself. read more
