I would strongly recommend that no one go to Massage spring in Rockville. You go to a massage parlor to relieve stress, ease pain, and relax -- but this experience was terrible from the very beginning. First, the pricing is completely misleading. Their website clearly lists a couples massage for $90 (and I have a screenshot to prove it). However, when it came time to pay, they charged $130 instead. That's a huge difference, and it feels dishonest and deceptive. Second, they aggressively pressured us to tip. Tipping should be based on service and left to the customer's discretion -- it should never feel forced or bullied. To make matters worse, they placed us in a room that I'm almost certain doubles as a break room. It did not feel professional, clean, or prepared for paying customers. The most unacceptable part of the entire experience was when the female masseuse slapped my butt and laughed. That is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I did not come here to be touched in that manner. A massage should feel safe and respectful -- this did not. Overall, this was uncomfortable, misleading, and unprofessional from start to finish. I'm writing this as a warning to others. Save your money and go somewhere that values professionalism and respects its customers. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

This was WORST massage I've ever had! Went in for a what was supposed nice Valentine's Day couples massage yesterday and ended the night with pain killers. Things were off the moment we got to our room, I'm not too good for a 'homey' vibe as long as the room is clean but it legit looked like the employees used this as a break room, there were half folded clothes and junk on the shelves, no aroma and the face rest were just bare cloth. I'm used to having a towel, tissue paper or something covering it for cleanliness/comfort so that was off but I trusted that they disinfect it someway. My masseuse was so bad, putting SO much pressure on just straight skin to bone! I let him know a number of times that it was painful, be gentle but nothing changed and I endured trying to enjoy by bf's gift. The light was also on most of the time (until they asked us to turn over), they used Vaseline instead of body oil ( not wrong I guess just odd lol) and both masseuses had a full blown conversation the entire hour of our time. As bad the experience was my bf still tipped 20% and one of the masseuse literally bullied him into tipping more! Apparently this was a great go to spot for a massage but they've recently switched management. Let me tell you, as someone who has currently propped up on a pillows after taking painkillers and too sore to lay down on my back, don't spend your money here. read more

I had a really bad massage tonight 10/2/25. I had to constantly ask for the pressure to be lighter. The lights in the massage room were on full brightness. They weren't turned down until the ens when I had to turn over. Also, the website isn't updates, per the front desk person. So when I asked for the aromatherapy $10 add on, she didn't know what that was. My massage therapist was nice, but the massage was really bad. It as so painful and I did not get a deep tissue massage. So that wasn't the issue. I use to go there all the time years ago. The service has gone down. I don't recommend this place at all. First off, you're not getting premium or luxury Bethesda treatment so temper your expectations. This is in a strip mall. We came here for a couple's massage yesterday using a Groupon deal making each person's 60-minute massage only $40, which was a great deal. The waiting area is small and unassuming. The front desk person was busy on a call when we arrived and didn't greet us. There's a "People love us on Yelp" sticker prominently displayed on the door. We arrived about 20 minutes early, filled out a fairly typical form with personal info, medical history, areas of concern, and reason for visit. We were led to separate waiting area that was essentially a closet without doors and two youth futons face to face and a central table with plastic flame candles not turned on. The staff were friendly. We were given the option of male or female. The couple's room is so small that the door to enter hits one of the massage tables and doesn't fully open. We didn't care about bells and whistles, and smoke and mirrors don't impress us. We didn't need cucumbers on our eyelids or expensive wallpaper or fancy water features. We were there to relax, unwind, and get a deep and soothing massage. And it was deep and soothing indeed! The masseuse was gentle where she needed to be and applied pressure where I needed, checking with me on my comfort level occasionally. Relaxing spa music was playing. I felt rejuvenated and relaxed and less stressed. We were given the full hour though the start time was slightly delayed. At the end, we were given 2 oz cups of water. We tipped $20 each. I had a couples massage at Massage Spring and it was THE BEST massage I have ever had! It was a definitely a full body experience, my masseuse worked in my head all the way down to my toes. I've always gotten a Swedish massage or a deep tissue massage but I was surprised with hot stones. It felt extremely good on my skin, I don't think I'll ever go back to getting a Swedish massage! The pressure was just right. Both masseuses were professional and did a great job. Now for the place itself, this is definitely not your fancy spa. The spa is located in a strip mall. The rooms were extremely small so might not be the place for you if you're claustrophobic. The couples room I was in had very little room to walk in but was clean. This was the worst experience I've ever had in receiving a massage in the dc metro area. This compares in NO WAY to the massage spring spa in dc (sometimes called massage escape spa), altho they are apparently the same business. I made an appointment, albeit at 750 ish, for an 830, 90min appt with a male masseur. If he's not available, just say that. When I arrived, They said they'll be closed so charged me for massage + tip. I have a basic, decent tip for the time charged and figured i could tip more in cash if it was amazing. Now id rather get my money back! Never again. I was possibly massaged for 1 hour total. First they didn't come into the room at all's when someone finally did they said "Andy" the male masseur wouldn't be available for 15 or so minutes. About ten minutes later the front desk woman (she wears a gold gourd on her neck on a black cord), ushered in a woman (845) who she said "would do some massage before Andy"....but what she did felt nothing like a massage. Very disappointed in the service we received at this location. My partner has had a stressful week and I wanted to surprise her with a couples massage. After double confirming the appointment, we check in to the rooms and prepare for the massage. The first 5 minutes were great but unfortunately that was as far as we got until one of the massage therapist's phone kept buzzing with texts, leading to a phone call as she answered. Shortly after that, she leaves the room to attend a different customer.....leaving my partner without a massage therapist--no communication, no heads up. I felt extremely disappointed with the service that it just touched a different emotion because I had planned it for the love of my life to relax in and it was sadly ruined by unprofessionalism. We decided to leave. The manager at the end was polite trying to explain the situation they were in, saying the weekends were their busy days. However, if the customer is paying for a 90 minute session-then I should at least get a massage therapist that is willing to stay for that allotted time with no interruptions--and if interruptions are happening, please communicate that with the customer and not leave us in the unknown. I have been client of Massage Spring Spa for over 7 years. The service they provide is always excellent. They discuss with clients on their pain points and work on them for the entire session. The staff is also very professional and well trained. The price is also very good. They have only raised the price once and with only 1 dollar increase for the past 7 years. They are so good that I would drive from VA to MD for their service even after I move to VA. Definitely worth of my 40 mins travel time to drive from VA to MD. I have been to this spa once before for a couples massage. The service was great. I tried to come back here, this time after purchasing a groupon. I called to make the appointment for my boyfriend's birthday a month in advanced. On the day of my appointment I drove 45 minutes from my house to this spa just for them to tell me that I don't have an appointment and that they dont know who I spoke to about my appointment. Today, February 16, 2024, I attempted to call for another appointment. I spoke with a woman who claimed her name was Lisa and she stated that there are mo couples massages and that it has to be purchased seperately although it clearly states on groupon that they offer a hot stone couples massages which I bought for $109. She also stated that there are only 10 groupon massage appointment slots and that I cannot book for an appointment until March. When I asked to speak with the manager about this she said they were not there. When I asked for the manager's name she claimed that she did not know who the manager was. One of the worst massages I've EVER gotten... My husband and I were visiting from LA. We made a same day appointment for a couples massage. From the start the massage was not pleasurable. My husband asks his lady to do stronger pressure and my lady gets involved and says "FIRST WE START SOFT" with a sassy tone. Then she grabs my neck super hard.... Ummm so much for starting soft. I told her she did too hard and she just starts rubbing no longer massaging my body I look at her and tell her my neck is a sensitive area I want medium pressure but my legs and arms strong pressure is ok. My husband starts talking to me saying it's hard to find a massage place while traveling and my massage lady aggressively joins conversation "what you say?!" Then she starts speaking Chinese loudly while the other lady just tells her to be quiet. At that point I was just riding it out since it was late and there's no other massage place we can go to. A few minutes later the lady that is massaging me SNEEZES ON ME!!!! Full spray I felt all her saliva land on my back and she immediately tubs it with the oil. NASTY AF I didn't even have time to tell her to clean me. I was so annoyed I told her next time she sneezes to cover up (she looks at me as if she don't know this) she didn't even say no sorry she said "oh no no no" as she continues to rub her saliva with the oil ON MY BACK. Upon arrival, they asked me to pay for the service upfront including the tip. Even though I thought it was kind of weird for this place to do that, I went ahead and provided 20% tip for the massage I have not provided yet. The place and massage were fine, nothing special. The reason i gave 1 star to this place is because at the reception i was informed that the minimum required tip amount is $10. Since when did tips become mandatory?! Tips are customer's discretion. Customers decide if they want to leave tips and the amount of tips they want to leave. I pay for the service and businesses need to pay their employees. "Mandatory" tips is the same as charging for the service more, in this case just include it in the price and i will decide if i want to do it or not. Don't charge customer one price and then at the end inform them that there is a "mandatory" tip amount. These massage places are starting to become unpleasant venues to go to. You can't just get dressed and go about your day, they wait for you outside the room, like some beggars for you to give them money even though you have already paid for the service.
