I booked a couples massage for my boyfriends birthday. We usually go to the same massage spa when we're in the area but wanted to try somewhere new. Over the phone, they asked if we wanted to be in the same or separate rooms, of course, since we wanted to do a couples massage, we wanted to be in the same room. However, when we got there, we were in separate adjoining rooms that was technically one room separated by a wall, not what is standard for a couples massage nor what we were expecting from the yelp pictures but it wasn't that big of a deal. I noticed that one bed was made with a rose on it and the other one didn't look to be set up. The sheet was folded up and I had to undo it myself. The massage therapist didn't ask what areas I needed focusing on which although they usually do, some massage therapists will go based off the muscle and can tell what area require more attention. However, the massage felt like a whole lot of nothing. Just a series of rubs and pressure on my body in an aggressive way that wasn't accomplishing much. The therapist spent a lot of time massaging my scalp which ended up just putting my hair into a giant knot afterwards. We went to give a 20% tip for each therapist but was rejected at the front counter demanding we give a 35% tip each?! Mediocre massage and service, will not be returning nor would recommend. read more

This place represents everything I would ever hope to experience at a massage business. So many times at big name massage places I've entered the building in a pre-relaxed state, looking forward to that slightly toxic but blissful hangover after a good massage, only to be greeted by a sales person who wants to ask me 25 questions to "customize" my massage....only to have the masseuse repeat the questionnaire during the massage that started 15 minutes late... to compound the issue, you're often asked to review the massage and listen to massage packages options before you're allowed to pay and leave. I couldn't think of anything less relaxing. Enter Tranquil Moon and the best masseuse I've ever experienced, Vicky. Let me summarize the experience after sharing my expectations with you. When I schedule a massage, my body doesn't feel as good as I want it to. I want to show up on time, be shown to a room, appropriately undress, and get a massage so my body feels better, pay, and leave. Today I had my 3rd (or 4th) massage from Vicky, and the first massage ever where I've honestly been completely comfortable getting a massage (I feel like it SHOULD cause a bit of anxiety if you're a decent man with a female masseuse). I walked in 5 minutes before my appointment. Vicky greets me. Not a sales staff member ready for a meeting, but my massage provider. When I am ready, she shows me to the room we'll be using and excuses herself. I undress and wait for her on the massage table. She greets me back in the room and says, "medium or deep?" "Medium," I reply. Not another word is spoken until I say, "Vicky, can we do 90 minutes today? Is that okay?" "Yes." She doesn't know I'm a golf pro. She doesn't know I've been in 5 car accidents. She doesn't know how many vertebrae I've fractured. We've never had a conversation about it. It seems to me that her fingers seem to tell her. Today I walked in limping. My whole body has been sore and beat up. During my massage she finds areas on both of my hips that were really agitated. I didn't know they were, but she found them. No discussion, she works them out. In 90 minutes, she discovered an ailment I didn't know I had and sent it packing. She doesn't know I have chronic QL spasms in the left side of my back from a car accident 3 years ago. But when she finds the muscle, she's significantly more gentle around it, while still attending to it than on the other side. She doesn't know I have tendonitis in my left elbow and right wrist, but her hands knew exactly where to pay attention for me to leave feeling......for lack of a better word, back in balance. A review is obviously a reflection of a person's opinion of an experience. It is my opinion that a true expert of massage can feel their away around a person's body to locate their needs while providing a peaceful, comfortable, and relaxing experience. That's exactly what Vicky does, and as long as she's practicing in the area, I'll never go anywhere else. read more

Fairly new masseuse at this location by the name of Sammy is very good, quite experienced with pressure points, muscle knots, basic physiology, joints and strong! An hour of massage from her is like 90 minutes with an above average masseuse in the area. It does help that she is fairly fluent in English, very professional and is trained in American Massage Therapy as well. High recommend. read more

I have had a great experience both times I have come here ( I got another massage today). The place is simple, and clean. Vicky makes it so easy to schedule appointments and the masseuse is wonderful! She asks if you would like medium or hard pressure during the beginning of the massage, and of course you can always communicate with your masseuse during. Her touch is amazing, She really works on tense areas, and does her best to alleviate tension. This is a bit long, because it's been a (rather unpleasant) saga. Just returned from my second appointment at TM -- and the second time NOT getting a massage. First time, I showed up on time, the place was locked and no one answered the phone. Left a message, waited a few minutes, then left. Vicky called the following day to apologize ("something came up") and offered to give me a free massage. Told me to call or text her, which I did: scheduled today's appointment through text, so we both had it in writing. Showed up today a few minutes early. Vicky took my upstairs, then told me that someone else had scheduled a couple's massage for the same time slot, that she'd need to do THAT massage, and can I wait an hour(!) I said no. So she called another masseuse, told me that this other masseuse would be there in 5-10 minutes to help with the couple, and she, Vicky, would massage me right away. As soon as I got off my jewelry Vicky walked back in to tell me that I would have to wait for the other masseuse. I reminded her that that was the second time out of two, and asked why she can't have the couple wait, to which she replied "I don't want to get two people mad." By that time it had already been 7 mins past my scheduled time; I know that "5 to 10 minutes" can easily be15-20 minutes; and I got a taste of their attitude, so I left. Maybe they know how to do a massage (if you ever get to that point) but they certainly don't know how to run a business OR how to treat customers. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this experience was so disappointing, I would like to prevent others from having a similar experience. I called to make an appointment and was told it costs $70 for a 1 hr massage which is more than on the website. I was fine with it since maybe things changed due to Covid. I arrived and was told it cost $75, I told her she told me it was $70 and handed her $80. This alone set the tone, I thought this stuff only happened during traveling abroad? During the massage she burped multiple times and was on the phone in an aggressive manner which made it difficult to relax. I didn't sign up to have someone burping and yelling in my ear. The massage was below minimum and wasn't any better than my foam roller. There are plenty of options in Rockville, at least pretend you care about the customer. read more

Tranquil Moon is a relaxing place to unwind. I like that there are actual rooms instead of just curtain/dividers between massage beds. Make sure to make an appointment or call before going to make sure that they can accomodate you immediately. I've had a different masseuse every time, but the quality of my massage has always been the same. They do a wonderful job with the massage itself, but the decor/ambiance is also very calming, and they are very kind and always make sure I'm comfortable. Today I went to Tranquil Moon for the 4th time. I always had a good experience, but today was the best. Annie did my massage, and she was extremely caring and considerate. She asked me for feedback on the pressure a few different times and even on the temperature of the hot towel. I've been here three times and I can't say how happy I am to have found this place thanks to positive Yelp reviews. I have neuromuscular disease and Vicky and Susan understood my issues right away. I went to this place because of the good reviews. Very disappointed and here are the reasons. 1. As soon as you walk in the place, you have the mould smell. 2. The masseuse put the used towel back to the towel heater. I am not sure whether she is going to do with the used towel. That makes me feel terribly. 3. The manager recommended the higher price deep tissue massage, but the masseuse just did the body rub. I paid extra for nothing, and the massage is not different than any other Chinese massage places. I was a member of Massage Heights but I quit the membership because the training levels of their therapists vary. I had to be lucky to get a good massage and making appointment with a specific therapist was not easy. Also, same day appointment was not possible many times. But at this place, I had the same perfect massage every time, because there are only 2 therapists and both are very skillful. Also, I made the same day appointment for all 4 times. If you make an appointment you can save a couple bucks versus just walking in. Plenty of parking out front, look for suite 14A as the physical address is a little misleading.
