Showed up and the door is locked, called and no one answered. Waited for 20 minutes and no one came. At 11:00 on a Friday...it's not like those are weird hours? I bought a Groupon for Beauty MarQ and was excited to go in because of raving reviews I had read. I wasn't able to get through the first few times I called and then finally someone picked up and I was able to schedule my appointment. I knew the date of my appointment but had forgotten to write down the time, and so starts the whole episode of trying to get ahold of someone to just TELL me my appointment time! I called consistently for almost 2 weeks! I left numerous voicemails with my name and number! No response!! I showed up at the salon at 9am (typically normal hours of operation id assume?) and all the blinds were closed and the door was locked. No one came to the door when I knocked. I called again and left a a very unhappy message saying I was at the salon and outside the door and would like a refund. This is way to much work to schedule one salon visit! I sympathize for independently owned salons, I've worked in service, I understand that it gets busy and chaotic but I've been calling for 2 weeks. I think that's plenty of time to get back to someone. If you don't have enough time to review a voicemail or email, then please hire someone to work front desk for you. Now I'm forced to take time out of my day to go back to the salon, which is HOPEFULLY open! (Like I said, no operating hours on the website or posted on the door), to try and get my money back. My friends gave me a birthday gift by giving me a facial deal to this establishment. I was very hesitant because I am extremely picky on who I go to as I had a bad experience with breakouts after getting a facial elsewhere. However, when I walked in, I felt at ease because I was personally greeted by Katana who has a wonderful gift of allowing her clients to feel at home and comfortable with the services being requested. What also helped is that the interior was equipped with nicely chosen decor and you can tell that the business really invested in good quality equipment. Katana's facial service starts with a lot of pampering and massaging to your face which turns out to be the cleaning process. The products used were very cooling and soothing to the skin, not to mention pleasantly fragrant to where it wasn't too strong. This is a good thing because I'm very sensitive to strong fragrances. Katana took the extra time to check all the areas of my face and neck. I will admit, there is pain on the removal of these 'impurities' but as the saying goes, no pain, no gain! I was so relaxed that there were times that I dozed off! Unfortunately, the next thing I know, the 60 min is up and I had to wake up! She's the only aesthetician I've ever had that paid attention to (extracted) my ingrowns and blackheads (yeah, I know, gnarly!) But I really appreciated it.
