Their prices for a haircut for females is pretty cheap and they do a good job for basic hair cuts and trims. I have pretty long hair so my haircuts are $20-$30, depending on how much I let my hair grow from midback to my waist. My grandmother (short pixie hair) and mother (medium length hair) also find they like their haircuts here too and actually refuse to step foot anywhere else. Our family favorite hair stylist is Tammy. She speaks Teochew Chinese, Vietnamese, and has pretty good English. She works quickly, but seems to give the most flattering haircuts out of all of the stylists. I always ask for long layers in a V-shape and with full side bangs and she delivers. But most importantly, she cuts off the amount I ask her to! Other places usually make side bangs too thin/choppy and cut off inches of hair but she gets my hair cut right every single time. This is specifically directed toward the lady with the blond highlights, she was terrible. That lady was rude, speaking to me with an unwarranted, aggressive attitude. When she was actually cutting my hair, it felt like she was doing a speed run or something. Just snipped away chunks of my hair without any care or caution. At one point, she simply stopped cutting my hair and went to the mirror to fix her makeup. Toward the end, she knew she had messed up but didn't know how to fix it, so I just told her it was fine, paid my dues and left. Now looking back at it, it was not "fine", she should really put some effort into what she's doing. I usually just drop in without an appointment and if you're going on a weekday afternoon, you probably won't have to wait at all. I'm not that picky so I don't ask for anyone specific since they cut pretty much the same to me. I usually ask for a trim and layers and the ladies do a great job! Surprisingly, they don't chop off more of your hair than you originally asked for. The lady gave me what I had wanted exactly: a trim. I absolutely love this place simply because Loc is such an amazing hairstylist and person. He is a perfectionist. If my hair isn't up to par, he'll spend as long as he needs to fix it. Went to a salon the day before to get some purple tones in my hair at Happy Salon off Bellaire Blvd and the guy totally messed up my hair. It was badly damaged and the guy doing my hair (he has a man bun) kept walking out for a smoke break and having some other guy who wasn't license doing my hair as well as my sisters hair (we wanted a similar look). My hair turned out all blotchy with purple and bleached. Biggest regret of my life. I almost started crying because my long hair was ruined and I knew I would have to get it all chopped off!! The stylists seem like they know how to cut hair well, but it is a strange place because the salon looks like a pig sty. The place looks filthy with hair in every corner and crevice and it make one wonder what other equipment is not being cleaned properly. The lady on the left aisle, first station was very rude and sharp. She contradicted and found fault with everything I requested and she wasn't friendly, but I never made any critical remarks about her cutting. Because I am white and she is Asian she gave the strong impression of being racist towards caucasian females or having a chip on her shoulder. She could learn some manners or fake it better if this is the case. The other stylists there are more polite, but the place is just too filthy and dirty. The owner would have more clients if they cleaned the salon and in-serviced the stylists on how to be friendly toward clients of every race. read more
