Top notch! Mary had the experience, know-how, attention to detail, perfectionism, artistic ability, and personality that definitely puts her head and shoulders above the rest. I was able to secure an appointment for a consultation on the very same day I called. I was also able to have my upper/lower eyeliner and brows micropigmentation done within a week and a half. She is gentle, had a knack for and clearly LOVES what she does. I originally called "Face It" and was told that I'd have to wait a few months just for a consult. They did call me in January to schedule (mind you, I wanted them done in November) but by that time I'd already had 2 sessions with Mary. I've done the research and know for a fact that Mary IS the most reasonably priced and top quality person around. She'll also be doing "brush strokes" soon. This review is long overdue because I've been going to see Mary for years and I absolutely love her and her work. And, uhh, eyebrows are important. 'Nuff said. Tattooed eyebrows are such a timesaver. And I am SOOOOOO glad I got them done. FYI - I went with powder brows. Ombré powder brows the first time I had them done years ago. Mary is knowledgeable and has a great eye! She really knows what she is doing and it shows. She is personable and overall just a pleasant, friendly, and genuine person with such a bright personality. She exudes confidence in a modest and tasteful way - she is confident in the way that made me feel safe and comfortable. She gained my trust real quick. And the end results are amazing so she talks the talk and walks the walk. She is hygienic and always uses a new, sterile needle. (She shows you the packaged sterile needle while setting up.) She gives an instruction sheet so my best advice is to follow them for best results. And FYI - after your brows peel, the color will appear light and maybe even pink. That is NOT the true color. Give it time, as your brows take time to heal. Like I mentioned, follow her instructions. VERDICT Mary is incredible and does an impeccable job. I believe she is only taking referrals now, but if you're lucky enough to get in - DO IT. You won't be disappointed. I get a ton of compliments on my brows! And even more now after my retouch! Since I'm such a strong supporter of local businesses, I feel the need to let people know how much I appreciate Mary D.'s permanent makeup artistry. In my younger years, I rarely wore makeup but as I've gotten older, I realize I need help to look presentable at work. Getting my eyebrows done by Mary has been a game changer for me. I still don't wear makeup but I don't worry at all anymore about not looking good when I leave to go anywhere at anytime or sweating it off at work or at the club or going to the beach. For those of you who don't know, Mary Dornan (previously Mary Phan) used to work at Paul Brown in the upstairs spa rooms before opening her own place across from Sports Authority in April. Her new place is nice, clean and has free parking without having to go in that ward warehouse narrow-ass parking lot! What I like best about her is that she is always consistent but doesn't make the same shape for everyone.. I should know, because my sister goes to her too. She takes her time and is sure to both TRIM TRIM TRIM those beasts as well as wax with minimal pain and utmost precision. Overall I've been very happy with her and if you know me, I am quite particular about my brows (hence my OCD about finding a good brow waxer and then sticking with them). When I went to school on the mainland, for the first 2 years away I didn't really want to trust anyone else but Mary so I would only wax my brows when I came home for winter and summer... good thing I ended up finding someone decent in LA *shudder*-- the horrors! Anyway, she's pretty reasonable, $20 for brows which is $1 less than Paul Brown. She also offers eyebrow tattooing, which is one reason why she moved. I colored my hair back to dark brown from red/auburn so we went a bit darker and thicker. Can't wait for them to heal so I won't have to ever spend another dollar on brow products! Original review: MAAAAAARY! There's a reason why she is booked 6 months or more ahead. She's simply THE EYEBROW GOD! I booked her in November 2015 and finally went in for my appointment last week. She is most definitely worth the wait if you want *perfection*! I used to spend TEN MINUTES just on my brows when I do my own makeup. I'm a makeup artist, so my face is my brand. I wanted my brows tattooed to make my life easier, but I didn't want to end up looking like the typical "auntie" with bad brow tattoo! I went in thinking I wanted microblading for my brows, but they are thin and very sparse towards the outer edge. Mary showed me pictures of people who'd done microblading, and initially, the work is beautifully done in the "immediately after" pictures. But there were hardly any pictures of "healed" or "1 month out" microbladed brows. The ones that were, looked pretty shabby - the ink had feathered but the scar remains on the skin. So finally I was convinced to do the powdered brows, mainly because Mary was so confident in what results would make me happy. Mary was super fun and professional, and we conversed about so much stuff that I was at ease throughout the appointment. She drew my brows in, making sure that they were even to my bone structure, asked me what I thought, and then made the necessary adjustments. She applied topical numbing cream, and we waited 30 min for it to kick in. We agreed on a color and before I knew it, she was done! Once my madre settled on the microblading/embroidery technique which gives natural looking hairstrokes, Mary proceeded to show us the tool she'll be using. Absolutely love Mary! Been about a year since I've been seeing her for both waxing and permanent makeup. She's sweet, efficient, and knows her stuff. Very clean and her workspace is very hygienic. I'm a cancer patient, and she's always so thoughtful and researching products for her clients who are patients. She's organized, and keeps her appointments. She's also really good about confirming appointments a few days out as a reminder, which really helps me since I can be forgetful. Her permanent makeup is superb, and you can tell she really loves what she does. Her permanent makeup clientele has been on the rise, so she's not really taking in new wax appointments. I first went to her scared and nervous for my Brazilian, but she makes you feel so comfortable and she is sooooo FUNNY that it actually goes by really quickly and less painful! When we were finished she took a look at my eyebrows and said we needed to fix them. LOL! (To be honest I knew they needed fixing.) Ever since then, she is the only person that touches my eyebrows! I have a scar on one of my eyebrows, so I need to draw them in everyday. So I was very excited when she got her license to tattoo.... Still a little scared because it would be permanent, but I totally trust her with my brows. They came out AMAZING, and I am so happy that I don't need to draw them in anymore!!! Mary the brow goddess! Love her! I've been going to Mary for 4 years now. I do my eyebrows every 2 years (only because of my type of oily skin) which is totally understandable. Mary warned me about it. And I was fine. I love her work! She doesn't use any of those measuring stuff. She has a good eye! I love her and her personality. So sweet, bubbly and super hilarious!! Mary is the best eyebrow shaper. It's $20 for brow waxing but she also does tattoo for eyes and brows. There's also plenty of free parking in the lot. read more
