I first met Edine at a convention when she had her shop on Smith st. At that time, I wasn't aware that permanent makeup was a possibility. With that being said, I also learned a lot about the difference between pigments and tattoo ink, thanks to Edine. She's very knowledgeable and has extensive training and I'm sure her staff does too. After many years, I decided to touch up my eyebrows again. Unfortunately, they don't have a Honolulu store anymore, but they do have one in aiea. It's a nice, small salon in the medical plaza. It's very easy to find. Edine is now in Vegas, but her daughter, Shannon, is at the aiea store. I've been to her twice and she is just as knowledgeable, friendly and professional. This is my first experience in getting my eyebrows done. Of course I was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. My first call to inquire... I spoke to Edine. She is the owner and she was very patient .. cordial.. and put me at ease about the procedure. She highly recommended Shannen for the procedure. When I went in for my first procedure.. Shannen was very cordial and explained the steps as we were going thru the procedure ..it wasn't as painful as I expected it to be . I did the ombré technique as was recommended. I went to see Shannon about getting lip liner. I had an accident about 8 years ago & my teeth had gone through my bottom lip and erased a good portion of it. I was hesitant to have it done because I had heard from several people that 1. It doesn't last and 2. It really hurts. I had permanent make up for my brows, eyeliners, and lips done by Cat who is very sweet. The brows and eyeliners turned out great. All very comfortable to have done. I even dozed off while she was doing my eyeliners. However, just as a warning, my lips were a real problem. It took just over 5 weeks for my lips to go down to their original size and without sores [Good thing about Covid, I wasn't freaky looking wearing a mask all the time]. This is long overdue. Shennen at face it literally changed my life. I have an autoimmune situation that made me lose one of my eyebrows. I had long tried to fix it 20 years ago... it was a blue/grey crooked hideous mess. I was so very self-conscious about it. but I have been scared from so many bad attempts at trying to fix it that I had left it for years I finally. Lately I started hearing about Inc. that neutralize colors. I contacted several places here on Oahu. Most eyebrow artist don't want to repair anybody else's bad work. They agreed to take me even though I had told them how scared I was, and how many times I had tried to go get repairs in the past... Basically letting them know I was going to be a pain in the butt !I'm so glad I made the right decision. Edine took so much time to speak with me on the phone and explain to me all the differences. Shennen is an absolute artist... but this is beyond an artist. This was a Medical procedure. She informed me of everything ahead of time that I would have to go through a phase of having some of the ink removed, and then several touchups. After the first process I was completely at ease. She measured so precisely and then erased it, and did it again to make it more her liking. There was no rush and no irritation that I had a lot to deal with and that I took extra time an extra questions . I felt like I was at an actual doctor, who actually cared about me .This is not your average case since she had to cover one eyebrow that was totally not symmetrical with the other. I have been walking around like this for so long and my disease has also taken away all my eyelashes and this repair... I am not exaggerating, has been life-changing for me. I was on the ultimate quest for a no-smear liner & let's face it, no product can live up to that. This led me to conduct extensive Googling on the pros & cons of cosmetic tattoos. With none other than trusty Yelp, I found Face It Permanent Make Up Center & I made an appointment with Edine for the top eyeliner tattoo procedure. Prior to the procedure, there was a thorough consultation about how I wanted my liner, the procedure process & any questions that I had. Edine was a sociable person & seemed knowledgeable about cosmetic tattooing. Afterwards, I was lying down with my eyes closed. Edine smothered numbing cream on my lids & waited about five minutes for the numbing to take effect. I had a strong urge to open my eyes, but Edine reassured my she had a death grip on it. The feeling? Just a bunch of ticklish prickles on the skin of my eyeballs. No biggie. After the procedure, Edine put an ice pack over my eyes for 10 minutes & had her assistant go over aftercare procedures. The swelling went away after two days & I was ecstatic about waking up with makeup, but I wanted the eyeliner thicker. Eight months later, I'm back under the needle. The liner came out way thicker than I wanted with uneven, rounded ends, which Edine said was due to swelling. I instantly regretted the tattoo, especially since I still have to draw the ends out to make it even which makes the liner look more thicker. With a college student budget, I wasn't willing to pay the full retouch price to get it fixed, but I'm not sure how you can make it thinner without laser removal. It should of been done right the first time. For the premium prices with an experienced professional, I was expecting it to be close to perfect so I decided to let this one fade on its own... read more

Upon having two separate phone conversations with this company and being quoted a price of "between 500. and 1000." for the procedures I'd inquired about, I have the following to say: I'm sorry but I don't appreciate the fact that a company cannot book clients for even a consult for a month and a half. I wanted cosmetic eyeliner and brows done for my birthday which was in a few days but was willing to wait up to a month for a consult. I also do not appreciate a company using their "lack of appointment availability" as a representation of how good they are at the services they perform because their lack of staffing is not and should not be used as a marketing ploy. I was actually told: "there is a waiting list until January for a consultation; she's THAT good". Um...... read on. I'd found another EXCELLENT artist for micropigmentation on yelp. The reviews were all 5 stars and the price WAS definitely the best in town. I had the consultation and procedure within a week and a half. The result of my eyeliner (top and bottom) AND brows were wonderful, precise and the service was performed with very much care and attention to detail. Additionally, I will have 1-2 touch ups 6 weeks apart (to allow for healing and color settling) for the price I paid which was far less than expected compared to this place. I am by no means saying that this place does not perform quality work, nor am I saying that they are not customer service oriented. What I am saying is that I'm not easily deceived and that I believe that there is more to it than meets the eye. I would like to note that while trying to be fair... we should be aware and be allowed to base our decisions on information provided from various perspectives. I decided to get a retouch done here because Edine has done my lips where I hardly felt any discomfort. So, I made an appointment with her again to retouch my eyeliner. So i have very thin eyebrow hair and have been wanting to get them done for awhile now. I finally went ahead with the procedure and got Powdered Brows, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. They not only save me time in the morning ( no longer needing to fill my brows in) but have really been a confidence boost. I do need to say that my technician was an artist. Shannen went over everything with me step by step, to assure I knew what I was signing up for and all the possibilities with the healing process (very important). I've been seeing my waxer for about 12 years now. Recently when she was waxing my eyebrows, I mentioned to her that her eyebrows always look so perfect. She told me they were tattooed and I was absolutely shocked! All these years I've known her I had no idea they were tattooed. Even now as she stood just feet away from my face, I still couldn't believe it. She gave me the business card of Edine Swain of Face It Permanent Makeup Center. Oddly, in a random conversation with someone else later that same day, Edine was also recommended to me by friend of the family. I figured I had to check her out--it seemed to be my destiny. After browsing her website, I was thoroughly confused about which style would be best for me, but convinced she could do good work, so I called to schedule a consult. Her bubbly, friendly receptionist answered and I scheduled my consultation appointment. Edine is very thorough and knows her stuff. She answered questions I wanted to ask before I asked them. She spent about an hour with me and what I thought was great was that she thanked me for coming in for a consultation! She said she does many corrections (from other tattoo locations) because people don't take the time to learn about the process (ink, shape, etc.) before they have the permanent make up done. She listened to all my concerns and problems and I felt extremely comfortable talking to her. After my consultation, I was really excited (and a little nervous) to have the work done. I scheduled an appointment to have my eyebrows and a beauty mark (to cover a chicken pox scar) done the following week. The receptionist gave me a detailed handout with instructions for before and after the procedure to mull over before the actual big day. On the day of the procedure, a topical numbing cream was applied to the areas I was having tattooed. After a few minutes, Edine started her work. It wasn't painful at all in the beginning but they explained everyone responds differently. Eventually as the numbing cream started to wear off, the pain ranged from being stuck with a needle to getting shots on my eyebrow line. It was hardly unbearable and definitely worth it. The day I left, I was terrified that I would look like Ronald McDonald for the next few years, but I'm 5 days post-procedure and happy with my results. I have to return in 5 weeks for a free retouch to fill in areas where my body has kicked the ink out and fine tune areas that I need redone. The shape isn't exactly how I wanted it but I'm sure Edine can make the adjustments that I want and make it perfect. My eyebrows were far from perfect to begin with which is why I wanted this done to begin with. The day after my tattoo, someone from the office even called to see how I was doing and hear out any concerns I had. Edine and her staff are great. I would and have totally recommended her because her work is amazing. This is the first Yelp review I have ever written. I'm writing this review because the website and prices are misleading, and the girl at the front desk is very condescending and dishonest. I purchased a voucher from Hawaiideals.com for this procedure several months in advance, and discussed the price over the phone prior to purchasing. After paying $100 for the voucher I expected to pay only $100 based on the price on the website. The deal was for $100 towards $200 off an eye lash enhancer procedure. I opted for a senior technician, who was the owner's daughter, Shannon, at the owner's recommendation. I will say that I think Shannon did a really good job. I'm not happy with the result, but she applied the pigmentation symmetrically, and she was very nice and professional. After the procedure the filipino girl at the front desk said I owed $300, after I already paid $100, and the website said the price was $295. What?? She was very condescending. She said the prices on the website are wrong, and wrong or right, prices are subject to change at ANY time. I said even if they are incorrect the price would still be only $200 because the owner said her daughter is not priced as a "master technician." The "new prices" said the procedure was $395, and already paid $200. The girl proceeded to argue with me and tell me the technician was a master technician, after the owner herself told me she wasn't. I don't know if she was lying and pocketing the money, or just completely uniformed. The girl that did the procedure told her to go ahead charge $200. She finally said she would accept $200, and she acted like she was doing me a favor, by NOT overcharging me. In the end, I'm not happy with the results. My eyelashes were coming out with the dead skin, but I know that's not the technician's fault. If you choose to do business here, my recommendation is to get the price IN WRITING before getting any procedures done. Don't assume you will be charged the price reflected on the website, which they referred to several times, and don't assume they will mention anything about the website prices being wrong before you sign for the procedure. Lastly, I really hope the girl at the front desk gets reprimanded for her attitude. I have not felt bamboozled and talked down to by anyone like that in a very long time. After having been asked about my procedure and experience with Faceit Salon I told all of my friends to look elsewhere due to my negative experience with the front desk girl and the fact that the prices are inconsistent and outrageous, in my opinion. read more

I have a thyroid condition and one of the symptoms is hair loss on eyebrows. I was referred to Face it and had them done by Edine in 2007. She told me they would fade in 2-4 years and by 2011 I really needed to go back in. My appt was 10/18/11. Edine was still as professional as ever. She had my original consul pictures and we talked about the shape and color again and decided to go a little darker. I was nervous to go to dark but I trust her with the color. The procedure took about 25 minutes. When it was done my eyebrows were very dark and I was really worried. As she said in 4-5 days my eyebrows would peel and leave the intended color. I've been their customer since about 2007. I first did my eyeliner and then last year did my eyebrows and eyeliner touch up. I didn't 'need' a touch up on the eyeliner because it wasn't really faded (5 years) but I just wanted it darker. I absolutely LOVE the convenience of not having to put my eyeliner and eyebrows on everyday. When I do dress up, I still put makeup on, but that's only if I want a dramatic look. At least I still look like I have makeup on even after I wash my face. My friends always ask, "how do you keep your eyeliner from running or smearing?" Edine is my go-to for permanent makeup! I previously had bad experiences with another lady but Edine has been able to correct her mistakes. The first time I tried permanent eyeliner it was soooo painful which is why I was hesitant to get a retouch when it started to fade. But, Edine changed my whole outlook on permanent makeup. What I thought would be another pain-wrenching experience with a needle right next to my eye...actually turned out to be a good experience and I barely felt the needle. I will gladly and readily go back to Edine any time I need a retouch. She is very skilled and takes her time starting with the consult all the way to the finished product.
