Recently we stopped by Bearaboo Coffee on the way from the Twin Cities to Ely and a week later on our return. I notice that reviews for Bearaboo are mostly pretty old so a new one is needed. We were very pleased with everything - food service and ambiance. First Bearaboo is independently owned - it's not Starbucks - which is refreshing in many ways. The decor is homey. You order at the front, seat yourself and they bring your order to the table. Everyone on the staff seems happy and cheerful and you feel that your business is appreciated. The staff in many corporate establishments such as Starbucks etc appear to not care whether you are there or not. Food was good and I recommend the chicken salad sandwich on cranberry bread. read more

I'm a huge Bearaboo fan! We spent the last week on vacation in a nearby cabin. Thankfully, we found this place for breakfast one morning. I loved the iced vanilla Chai Tea and homemade cranberry Orange muffins. We came back two more times and tried different items. The breakfast bagels are delicious and filling. And the sandwiches and paninis are great too. But the service surpasses it all! Every single person that helped us was beyond friendly. They seem to really love their jobs. One morning we ordered sandwiches so we could have a picnic later. But we didn't have an ice pack for our little cooler. One of the servers happily filled a sack of ice for us. I ended up buying a cute Bearaboo t-shirt because I loved this place so much. I'm already wearing it today in Dallas, Texas. Go try this place, you'll see what I'm talking about. read more

We just pulled off driving thru to grab a coffee & found this wonderful coffee house with great coffees, chais & smoothies. Grabbed a scone but has a surprising menu. Efficient, personable service from the multiple baristas. What a gem of a find!!! read more

This is a cute little coffee shop! It has a nice log cabin ambiance and friendly barista behind the counter. Bonus points for the adorable name and logo! The menu was pretty standard, but I really liked that they have a drive-through. It makes even more sense when you consider they're the closest coffee shop to the highway. My coffee wasn't very strong (latte) but I liked that they had both almond and soy milks for dairy-free options and they had a lot of Harney & Co. tea flavors (they even had two decaf varieties)! We came in from California for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and were desperately seeking good coffee that didn't come from a chain. Thank you Bearaboo Escape!! They had everything we needed and it tasted great. Added bonus, we didn't have to get out of our warm car and just went through the drive thru! The super sweet barista also gave our pup a snack! I chose this place randomly as a stop on my road trip up to Duluth. I didn't realise it was a drive-thru and that was a very happy discovery for us lazier drivers. However, that's where my good impressions wane. I ordered a medium iced mocha which came to a very steep $5.12 after tax. The mocha was more milk and powdered cocoa than coffee. No one wants to pay $5 for iced and chocolate milk. I would definitely recommend a stronger espresso blend when making flavoured coffee drinks. read more

I absolutely love this coffee shop! They fight for social justice, they support their community, and they offer some of the best service I've experienced! I love the different aspects of decor. Their menu has tons of variety and everything always tastes fresh and leaves you craving more when you're already stuffed. Food proportions are large, their desserts and muffins are some of our favorites, and their drinks are the perfect amount of sweetness balanced with the espresso notes. They're definitely always super busy so we try and always make sure we have plenty of time if we're just going through the drive thru. But that just speaks to how much everyone loves this place. It's always a blur of baristas bustling around behind the counter compared to some coffee shops where they just stand around and argue over who has to do what. Their teamwork is to be commended. I really want to like this place but the drinks are very poorly made ... I just got an iced latte that made me physically I'll due to the amount of sugar they put in it. I went up and said that it was mind boggling how sweet it was am was forced to buy a regular coffee. This place is off my list for good. read more

Very good coffee and a quieter atmosphere (except for the occasional espresso machine whirring of course)! Love their dark chocolate mocha --not too sweet. They have a nice selection of breakfast & lunch sandwiches at reasonable prices. There are several comfy booths and other tables to take full advantage of the high-speed WI-FI. It is nicely decorated with an "up north" cabin feel with knotty pine walls. The staff has always been delightful and great service. Did you know they have a drive-through window?
