I really like the mandarin chicken salad & the garlic fries are one of my favorites. Tonight I ordered a zucchini salad with salmon. Ate the first little piece of salmon, got through the second & it wasn't cooked all the way. If I wanted sashimi, I would have gone to Sushi & Sushi. Theaterpup review - Bear Tooth is my spot for movies! Inexpensive to slightly bougie ticket prices. They have booths you can rent which I love, I'm still dreaming of the day when I'll get a booth for just two people. Seating tiers explanation: General - closer to the screens and the middle Reserved - seats in the back Booths - Cushy booths in the back The food in the theater area is pretty good but not a ton of gluten free options. Also beware if you have peanut allergies, because at Beartooth they use peanut oil in the fryer. This includes the (made on site)chips, and tostada base. They are very accommodating about allergies though. My pro tip is that you can order from the take out area if you prefer the food on the grill side + they have more allergy free options. I always get the half order of the tequila lime AK shrimp tostadas with soft corn tortillas. Highly recommend! If I get something from the theaterpub I get the seared steak tacos, they have a delicious coffee rub on them. Make sure to grab a fork and some hot sauce before you go in the grill. Half the time they forget my fork. The only thing that bugs me a bit. You can also go to the bar on the grill side and get drinks to bring into the theater! It's a Basil Smash for me normally. Just tell the bartender that you are going to the movie. One of my favorite things to do at Beartooth is go to an early Sunday movie and order brunch from the grill side. We were a party of 9 with out of town guests. We were trying to decide whether we going to Spenard Roadhouse, South, or Beartooth Grill. I highly recommended Beartooth because I am a frequent there and like their food and services. So we went there around 1:30pm on Saturday. When we ordered, 3 of us had chicken fried steak and 2 of us had fish and chips while the other 4 had different food. I ordered my chicken fried steak with gravy on the side and extra gravy. I also pay more to change my side dish of potatoes to cilantro and garlic fries. When the food arrived, the chicken fried steaks and the fishes were all in deep brown in color. We know it must be over cooked. Sure enough, they were all over cooked and dry. My order, apart from being over cooked, it didn't have extra gravy and the cilantro garlic fries that I paid extra for. I told the waiter and he said he would bring me extra gravy and the cilantro fries. But he never came back until he brought the check. I understood that restaurants apply service charges for big parties and that sometime makes the servers pay less attentions to their customers because they knew that they are sure to have a certain amount of tips. Instead they pay more attention to the other tables so as to make more tips. In the future, I will think twice before I will take and recommend my friends and guests to eat there. read more

The Bear Tooth Theatre Pub and Grill should really be broken down into two businesses since they are two separate entities. First, the Theatre Pub Five stars! I mean, there is a bar in the movie theatre! So all you have to do is walk to the back to refill your pint or pitchers, not missing any of the movie/ show! They also bring your food to you in the theatre so you can enjoy your gourmet pizza/ salad/ whatever you're into. And did I mention that movies are only $3.50? They are second run, but who cares? If you want a good seat get there about 30+ minutes before the show because lines can wrap around the building. All the pizza is great, but avoid the Chicken Bomber Burrito. It is bland and just kind of sucks. Secondly, the Grill I'm torn. I'm giving it a solid three stars. The grill has great service and for the most part the food is good. But it is expensive! I've also seen some reviews where people complain about how the bartenders measure drinks. I personally like it this way. I know that my drinks at the Bear Tooth Bar are always going to be good and taste the same no matter who is pouring them. Really good- the Oso salad and goat cheese crostini Really bad - the tuna tostadas. I keep forgetting how bland and boring they are and order them once every couple years only to find that nothing has changed. What a pity, especially with the high price tag! The beer for all Mooses Tooth/ Bear Tooth is brewed in their local brewery here in Anchorage and it is really good! I personally love their Apple Ale (not nearly as sweet as an apple cider) and Heffeweisen. My boyfriend loves their Moonflower ESB, Prince William Porter and Pipeline Stout. Food is as always delicious. Ate there "dine in" for the first time since Covid in the theater dining section. Apparently it's all self serve now, as in place your order at a kiosk, get your own water, utensils, napkins etc. their booths are tiny, adequate for one or 2 people but don't order multiple food items and if dining with friends you better be "friendly" Cant say I was all that impressed. I'll continue ordering from them because their food is good, prices reasonable, but it's strictly take out for me from now on. If I wanted to be a food server, I'd have made that my career path. Btw they still expect you to tip even if you serve yourself. read more

When I came to anchorage a year ago, they were a hard 5 star go-to place when you wanted good quality tasty food and drinks without planning. But since I came and visited this year, it's a solid 2.5-3. Ambiance is always solid as well as the workers, however the food didn't meet the expectations. I ordered the stuffed reindeer poppers and I'm positive it was bacon stuffed. My pasta wasn't the right one plus it was watery. Plus a few other things. But I'm still willing to give them all the chances because of their good and service. So I HOPE they improve. I know it's hard to find good workers. But you should still give them a chance because it might have been a bad day!! read more

I so want to love the Bear Tooth, but the food just isn't more than 3-stars to me. Granted now, I've only done the restaurant and bar side, not the movie side. And it's pretty darn cool to be able to enjoy a movie while noshing on food and drinking good beer. So big props on that side of the biz here. The restaurant and bar side is pretty standard. It's nice enough, but it has a bit of a generic feel to it. And it's on the smaller side of things. The bar area is quite small and can feel cramped. The service is friendly enough. Not super attentive, but not inattentive either. I've just been underwhelmed by the food each time I've dined here - brunch, lunch, and dinner. The beer is great. The cocktails are good. And the food is not bad. But it's just average. It's tasty enough to eat, but not tasty enough to devour or crave or absolutely have to order again on a return visit. read more

I've been here several times and am on the fence about Bear Tooth because I love Moose's Tooth and really want to love it here too. The good is that you can order the same pizzas here that you can at MT without the super long wait times you have at MT during the summer months. And the beer is delicious. I'm just not a fan of the Tex mex dishes. They lack seasoning and just don't taste good. I'm sure I will be back on another visit but now I know to stick with what I know I like - the pizza and beer. read more

I've had Good and not so good experiences at the Bear Tooth but last night I placed a rather large to go order and everything was perfect . As usual the place was packed and when I called in my order I was told the wait would be 45 min to and hour . My order was ready in 59 minutes . I can't complain because I was told ahead of time how long the wait would be and it was accurate and the food was delicious . They have some great specials right now and I had a blackened salmon taco with a mango salsa and avocado . It was so good I might go back tonight . Also their beer choices are superb ! read more

Good food, but the guacamole could use less garlic and some some salt. The burgers are delicious and the fish tacos were really good. The garlic cilantro fries were also good. My only real complaint is that the cold that blows through every time someone opens the doors. They could use a real arctic entry with a door where they have a heavy curtain at the entrance. We went early to avoid the crowds. Our large party got sat right away. They have a large selection of tequila offerings and have a house made margaritas mix. I got the coco loco which was very tasty. I hate to give this review. REALLY hate it. Bear Tooth uses to be one of my favorite places, and I've been going there since they opened. However, I've unfortunately moved away a couple years ago, and the before/after difference is noticeable. Their food was always spectacular, plentiful, and expensive. Well...Expensive still applies. The menu has lost some of its wonderfully interesting dishes (we mourn the macadamia crusted halibut). My go-to, always best-I-ever-had Carne Asada tacos were still on the menu..but...Literally half as much meat and a $2 up charge to substitute 1 order of fries for BOTH rice and beans. The meat was also adequate, but no longer great. This was the theme for all dishes this evening. Our service was good as usual, so that was a definite plus. The quality, quantity, and selection were less than usual, for the same high price. After years of recommending this place to our friends coming to town, it's off my "must go" list. The chkn skewers are wonderful but they have been getting smaller in portion size over the years -still worth it though - especially with their ranch dip :-) Love their fries (regular not the cilantro). Bear Tooth Grill is part of the Moose's Tooth family. After having my taste of the best pizza at Moose's Tooth, I was curious to see if this place could compare. First off, similar atmosphere. Fun and casual for lunch or dinner. And the employees are friendly! 5 stars - Nachos. Their nachos are good. Great. Amazing. This is my first time going to a place because my friend tells me, we gotta go here and have their nachos. What!? Really!? I had one bite and smiled big. Amazing. What's good about them? It's the black beans. They get it right here, flavorful and covering every single chip. Then the sliced jalapeños were good cause they were not too sour, and not too spicy. The olives were good and didn't add any extra water to the dish. The guacamole was fresh and not just smashed avocados, but actually guacamole. Oh, and the amount of cheese was exactly right, not too much. 4 stars - Smoked French onion soup. Besides the dry pieces of toast floating on the top that I ate around it was good. The broth was well seasoned. It wasn't overwhelming with the smokiness, and really highlighted the onions more this way. Good combo! 4 stars - Yogurt and Dill salad. Spinach, romaine, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, pine nuts, caramelized onions, feta, parmesan, kalamata olives. The dressing is tart and I like that! Refreshing start to the meal. I am in LoVE with this place! cantina tacos with beer battered cod and either a salad or garlic cilantro fries are my all time favorite meal. So delicious and plenty. Can't order anything else, this meal suffices. Service is pretty good usually and if you go mid-later afternoon the wait is not long. Love the covered outdoor patio but the ambience inside is very nice, with colorful interesting decor. In a booth you can chat and hear each other . It's not a noisy venue, which I very much appreciate. Drinks here are inventive and delicious. I like their Spenard Rita as well as their cucumber Rita. read more

We came to Bear's Tooth grill side for an early Father's Day dinner and was pleasantly surprised to find Vegan enchiladas on their specials menu. I was a little gun shy given the previous experience with the "special" Vegan" nachos. My wife decided to give them a try and I had 2 bites and wished I would have ordered them myself. They definitely earned an "A" for concept and execution. I hope this becomes part of their regular menu! The sauce was smooth and flavorful and know even non Vegans would love this dish as well. This review is for the theater part of Bear Tooth. Bear Tooth is located on the corner of Spenard and 27th Ave behind Plato's Closet and across from Jackie's Place. This is my favorite spot to go to in Anchorage for second-run or limited release movies and to grab a delicious Moose's Tooth specialty pizza. This place holds a lot of memories for me over the years hanging out with friends and seeing films like Gladiator, Gangs of New York, Goodfellas, the James Bond films, Star Trek, the Harry Potter films, Home Alone and Beetlejuice among others. The place is always packed with people. Arriving 30 minutes before the start of the movie is a necessity to grab a decent spot as well as to avoid standing in the long lines that form quickly. The employees are friendly but clearly overwhelmed at times with the flood of people coming in around dinner time or the weekends. A friend and I came in to see the second run of X-Men Apocalypse. Since we came in early for the screening, we were able to snag a decent table in the sixth row on the center-left. The theater was moderately crowded with the majority of people waiting in line to have dinner in the restaurant area. I decided to hold off on this review until trying out a number of the pizzas, burritos, and sandwiches that we tried from previous visits. For this go-round, we decided to try the Avalanche Pizza (pepperoni, blackened chicken, bacon, red onions, parsley, cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, and barbecue sauce) along with an appetizer of Garlic Treats (garlic, cheese blend, pickled jalapenos, and sour cream in flour tortilla pockets). The Garlic Treats were amazing and the Avalanche, like all the other dishes, was delicious as always. I could easily have given this place five stars rather than four. The reason I kept it at four is that the wait can be unusually long at times even when you place your order before arriving or before heading into the theater. A previous visit had us waiting for 40 minutes through the movie before our pizza arrived and it was slightly warm. (That's kind of painful to go through, especially if you spent almost $30 on a large specialty pizza.) Sometimes, the wait isn't that bad which is between 15-25 minutes depending on how busy they are. My guess is that our pizza was finished on time but was left sitting there before someone realized it hasn't been sent to our table. That was probably an off-day for the kitchen or the focus was more on orders for the restaurant section as we enjoyed our food this time around and it arrived hot and fresh. The variety of food here is exceptional and usually worth the wait. For the fellow Yelpers I spoke to who are visiting for vacation or recently moved up here and are not familiar with the area yet, everything on the menu is worth trying out. Some of the menu items I've enjoyed whenever I came down here are the Chicken Bomber Burrito (chicken, rice, whole beans, cheese blend, salsa fresca, guacamole, and sour cream.....their burritos are large enough for two people or two meals), the Backpacker Pizza (spinach, roasted garlic, sundried tomatoes, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, feta, mozzarella, provolone, and garlic oil), the Broiled AK Cod Tacos (marinated cod, cheese blend, beans, romaine, salsa fresca, guacamole, and sour cream on flour tortillas), the Chicken Rockefeller Pizza (roasted chicken, bacon, spinach, roasted garlic, red onions, cream cheese, mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, and Roma tomatoes), and the Caramel Turtle Fudge Ice Cream Pie (vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, caramel, and pecans on an Oreo cookie crust). Bear Tooth has various specials every week that are normally not on the menu like custom pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. They are also worth checking out if you want to try something creative and unique. This place is a must if you love movies and want to see classic films in the theater as well as having an awesome lunch or dinner on the table in front of you while you watch. My friends and I always keep tabs on the weekly film schedule for movies that we've only seen on DVD and look forward to seeing them on the big screen. In addition to the movies, they also hold events from time to time like live music concerts, locally made documentaries on AK wildlife or history with a Q&A session afterwards, and yes, the Super Bowl for all you football fans out there who want to see it on the big screen!
